You have it all wrong. They are communicating by their character’s movement and actions. If you can’t understand their plays and follow their lead without them stopping to explain, you are just bad, and may deserve a block + rage whisper after the match.

Such is the logic of most solo queuers.

Well, maybe I don’t have 4 ppl that have the same scedules as me, so when I wanna q outside of a few hours in the evening, I’m gonna have to solo-Q. And who do I meet with my rag-tag band of solo-Q’ers? Yes, a mix of GnR and vM players multiple times in a row.

Yes, you shouldn’t be able to compete at the very high level as a solo-Q’er, but there is definitely a better solution than the one we have now.

Atm. it’s the worst for decent players that play a lot, but that don’t have an FL full of top-100 players that q 24/7, which is exactly my situation. And it’s pretty rough.

And trust me, I’ve been looking for guilds, trying to expand my FL etc. but if you’re not in those higher echelons of the known players, you’re gonna have a very hard time.

Or they could just add a solo queue. Sometimes people simply don’t want to listen, even if you make an effort to communicate. I was on foefire earlier in a game that could have easily been won with a lord kill, which we had more than enough time for, but when I suggested it, everyone just stood on points even though 2 enemies were dead. We couldn’t just stand around because we were 100 points behind and wouldn’t have been able to fight the other teams bunker off the point and cap it before everyone respawned.

I even said we would probably need lord 2 or 3 mins in advance, and still nobody attempted it.

They can’t add a solo Q because they know everyone would go and solo Q.. so I think their logic is this…Made all the Solo Qer’s frustrated to the point where they want to quit the game or work forever to try and find 4 others that have their same schedule and skill level to play a game that doesn’t give out rewards worth the time of finding the people to make a team with.

What do you think happens when you’re in a PUG? The design of the game makes it so you have no metrics on other players to review to take any comfort. You don’t know their builds, you don’t know their win to loss rations, you don’t even know if they know what you mean by “Im going far”. All you know is that you are with this group of people you’ve never met and when things start to go wrong there they are conveniently available to scape goat.

People like to listen and communicate with people they trust and the design of the game gives you no reason to trust your pug team mates. This leads to communication problems immediately. You have one person (who’s usually just trying to save the match) try to put together a plan or call plays as the game goes on. He or She is trying to be team captain, but the team doesn’t know them so no one is listening and following the plan suggested. The person calling the plays is trying to follow their own plan and usually goes down and becomes a burden on the team in the process.

Having a system where players can trust other players in a PUG scenario is all about the game studio giving players the tools they need to gain that comfort level. Their are endless possibilities of things ANet could have done. For example, there could have been a “team captain” achivement progression and the game could auto assign a team captain. There is design that could be in place to have led us to outcomes were Pugs had incentive to trust one another and if those were in place PUG groups would communicate.

100% of the problems with GW2 sPvP is on ArenaNet and poor design decisions not on the community.

My guild (wich is love for it’s people, not truly another reason), doesn’t do serious pvp, and most pvp guilds require full time representing. I still haven’t found pvp guild advertisement that is open to ‘sometimes pvp playing’ people.

So atm soloQ is only option, but hey SoloQ is by far underpowered to TeamQ. Oh wait game over, no ‘next level’ for me.

Also a lot of TeamQ only ppl think they are super good/great/over the top skilled (to exagerrate a bit like them). This is not true. While they may be medium-to good, they are nothing more. Why? Cause half of matches they play against premade and it’s a FREE win. If the win feels deserved, they actually didnt play hard enough for TeamQ versus TeamQ standard (so easy should a SoloQ blowout be). And now all these people come here on forums ‘no no no, get away SoloQ people you suck’. That’s not really honest isn’kitten

I’m TIRED, TIRED, TIRED of players defending the system. The system is not good. It’s bad by DESIGN. It doesn’t matter how good or bad of a player you are. The matchmaking is designed to make sure nobody succeeds or fails. After the loss of solo queue, individuals are the mercy of premade teams. It’s a terrible system.

You say ‘make a team’? I say don’t take away queueing from solo/individuals, then maybe they WOULD be open to making at team. Alas, that’s impossible now. The artists and programmers designed a great game, but the leadership and direction of pvp is absolutely unacceptable.

Exactly. Also most PVP guilds are looking only for ranks 70+ / soon only diamond players.

And with the added PVP icon showing up in PVE/WvW , why would anyone go for unranked or open arena matches?
All PVErs want to look like the best in all areas somany randoms will play solo at least until January 26th.

I was moving from close to mid, but someone pinged me. So I halted, thinking someone wanted me to stay. A couple of minutes later, I learned through insults that he wanted me to move mid. Oh the irony.

Apparently, just drawing a line on the minimap requires too much effort. That or I suck at mind reading.

Balance team is a bunch of clowns, hurting the game to the full extent of their abilities.

ur teammate has full hp and 1v1 at home. do u leave him and +1 mid? do u +1 home? u leave him; he dies and loses home, is it ur fault? u +1 home and u guys don’t get mid, is that ur fault?

do u stomp, cleave or bleed them out?

do u rez or go for the rally?

can u tell wen someone says ‘i got home’ or ‘go mid’ in chat, can u tell if it was said 1min ago or 4mins ago when ur in the middle of combat and can’t really look at the timestamps?

communication is a team-queue strategy, and nearly impossible to replicate in solo-queue.

solo-queue is where u need to make the calls on ur OWN. if u can’t trust them to 1v1, then u +1 that fight and if they blame u for losing mid then so be it.

Don’t be that guy that tries to play like a team queue wit a bunch of solo queuer’s. solo queuer’s got their own way of doing things. let the team queuer’s do their thing and solo queuer’s do theirs.

Communication is not hard if everyone complies but people don’t and that’s the problem. You have ONE MINUTE before the match begins. Most people use that to jump around rather than look at the opposing team’s build and create a strategy. If no one else will then I will be that guy that tries to make the team, A TEAM. You know what’s the worse thing? The people who keep silent until the team starts losing and starts blaming everyone when he didn’t follow the plan. Everyone says they want solo queue but what’s the point if 95% of the people just want’s to do their own thing in a TEAM based pvp?

I will agree that pvp is presently a bit of a cluster….

I don’t necessarily agree with the OP. Yes communication is good, but it’s not the be all, end all of a game. Its helpful, but doesn’t mean you’re gonna win. Especially in a pug. Does help to get you flamed though by …uh..certain types of people.

Doing exactly as your told is not always the correct option, because sometimes the person calling the shots is wrong. Of course, even if you do exactly as you’re told, you may still get raged at because hey, you’re supposed to know better, be omnipotent, or at least a mind reader. shrug

Personally, as a causal solo queuer, having lived through the assorted GW1 RA shenanigans, GW2’s pvp just leaves me kind of ‘meh.’ You win some, you lose some, and the block list needs to have more room.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

This guy gets it.

But knowing how to be good in SoloQ is really hard. You just have to “know” a lot of things and recognize common situations. You have to know counter strategies to lots of enemy moves. You have to know classes in and out.

In many ways, following an assignment in a TEAM on instant voice comms is MUCH easier.
