The Custom Arenas we’ve always wanted.
“*Aside from the Red, Green, and Blue teams, there are two additional teams you may unlock—the free-for-all team and the invincible team.”*
Instead of Anet giving players more custom arena tools for new custom game ideas, they incorporated these ideas (and then some!) to Guild Halls. I think it’s going to be amazing for several reasons.
There’s potential for Meta Maps – an across-the-board standard for 2v2/3v3 TDM and XvsXvsX Multi Team gamemodes. I see these becoming very popular, at the very least, for Tournament play. I’m curious as to whether or not Guilds can store more than one arena map template)for their guild.
i’m overly excited about potential multiteam gamemodes, building maps, as well as the overall competitive GvG scene – i’m new to it (I know there’s an underground GvG fight club some where) and cant wait to be a part of it.

unfortunately, it will be using PvE gear and stats.

Why don’t we have both?

I know it sucks. I can see pvp guilds getting around with this like incorporating a set of rules for example only allowing players to wear greenies or something like that in order to prevent the spending of ridiculous amounts of gold and that way players who spvp can give it a go, could be a temporary solution until we pressure anet to incorporate spvp stats into the arena.

Yeah, like a rule forcing every players to reduce his/her retaliation damage by 33% xD
Also I forgot to mention, GH arena could definitely become a really big thing, just imagine large guilds hosting tournaments, group of players who want to participate line up and pay a small fee 1 gold for example and spectators paying a small fee as well. Guilds will be able to grow and make profit while being able to host a good quality event. I can even bet anyone something like a 3v3 deathmatch sandboxed mode could probably bring more viewers on twitch than boring conquest.

You already lost that bet. There are already deathmatch tournaments (I think 2v2 even on a weekly base), but no, they don’t generate a lot of viewers.
They don’t need Guild Halls, they just use Custom Arenas with their own ruleset (ban different traits/amulets and force them to battle on a specific place of a certain map).

Agreed. The previous tournaments.. like 1v1 or 2v2’s… were no doubt difficult to showcase. Other than dueling, there were no previous standards that the community to look back on.
There is, however, a Guild vs Guild community on a competitive level. There will no doubt be an evolution of gamemodes in the map creation (could take time). That’s not to say that other gamemodes can’t be popular through GvG custom map making.
[2v2/3v3/5v5 TDM or even standard X vs X vs X – I see multi-team being popular]
I’m think of SC:BW mapmaking. I hope this isn’t just wishful thinking in an mmo game like GW2. Hope to see diversified tools for map development for Guildies to take hold of.
