Anyone out there finding success with a non-elite HoT spec in PvP?

Sad to see my favourite mode getting locked behind a pay wall.

You can compete without Elite Specilizations and/or Revenant. But yeah, it’s pretty much premade vs. solo queue that is the main culprit now with the way League is set up. In a very poor fashion. Completely takes any sort of League ranking legitimacy and throws it out the window (besides exploiters who are throwing games on purpose to get a series of easy wins afterwards—I do hope Anet has a way to find these and punish it).

For now I’ve found the only non-hot spec to work to be DD ele or Necro. Right now the team with most HOT specs wins

I don’t envy anyone playing standard specs at the moment. The elite specs in general have superior damage and sustain. I was in one match and a player told another team member to stay close because they didn’t have HoT. I was like wtf. Good builds can still hold their own but they face an up hill battle.

I still have the same success rate with a PU condi mesmer build as before HoT.

You act surprised that you are expected to buy the expac. It’s common convention in pretty much every single mmorpg to date that you need to buy the current expac to stay competitive.

You should be glad this isn’t like WoW or SW:TOR where you can’t even queue endgame or ranked if you don’t have the expac.

But hey kitten the devs for trying to stay in the black.
