Hot Join Stacking.
Yes, groups of people will join a server and try to all play on the same side. That is when you leave, and move to a different one. I can not even fathom wanting to do that, but let em live if that is what they want to do.
To be fair, though, there are groups of people that join the same servers in hopes of just having fun; where most of the time they end up fighting on opposite sides, but sometimes the same issue pops up that you speak about.
It is hotjoin, so there is no penalty for coming and going as you please. When I see it happen I’ll stick around for a game or two to see if they get bored of being lame, and leave if need be.
gw2 is great if you have 4 other friends online at the same time as you. If you only have 1, or a few guildmates, stacking is one of the few ways you and your friend can play brief games without WvW roaming w/ your full exotic/ascended gear needed. (Which some ppl can’t be bothered to grind it out to ascended gear and are only casual players.)
the argument “its hotjoin so no penalty so it doesnt matter” just dont work
hotjoin should bring new people and not slap them in face
we dont have any pvp population anymore and still people dont care
matchup in hotjoin should be RANDOM
when wanna play with your friends in 1 team go teamQ or custom arena
simple
It’s… hot join. What’s wrong with letting friends stack on one team? There’s a 75 point difference between the winning and losing team in regards to glory so I don’t see winning as an issue. If you don’t want to get facerolled, just join a new server. It’s hot join.
“I’m so hard right now” – Ozie, in solo queue.

But that’s besides the real issue here.
I ( who has played gw2 since day 1. ) has grown with the rest of the community pvp wise and I know its ups and downs. Much like most of the community who has bothered to play pvp. Heck, pvp was the MAIN reason for me to get the game.
But think about our already dying game mode ( pvp ) that could use some fresh blood.
They join and expect a mostly random match with varying skill level, not to get facerolled by tpvp comps ( full guildies at times ). Its honestly a MAJOR turn off for them I can only assume.
Something else, is the removal of “rank” in hot join. No one in their right mind can tell me that they’re farming hotjoin/skyhammer for glory. Its for the rank.
So might as well split up the players by telling them “Hey, if you want to ‘rank up’, you will need to be yolo q’ing or playing tpvp.” Players who just want to have fun and get themselves into pvp can play with like minded players in hot join for quick pick up matches. While all the stackers can go back to where they came from (tpvp) and actually play against other like minded players for their rank.
hotjoin is for everyone newbies or high-ranked players.
although, it’s really sad to see new players getting ganked by ransackers/marauders. it doesn’t feel right. i even read qq’s from new players about rank imbalance but i don’t think there’s a solution to this. matchmaking is only applicable to tpvp.
first months you could NOT choose your team (red/blue) – your team was random and there was not this stacked teams
with custom arena and spectator mode patch they started this feature and i dont like it
People complained because there wasn’t a way to play with your friends (without, you know, joining a team arena and playing against other groups of friends). I can’t think of any solution to this except to re-design hotjoins to unrated matches, which I don’t think Anet will want to do. For some reason that I will never understand, some people apparently enjoy playing hotjoins.
Considering that A ) hot join matches tend to be horribly balanced anyways and B ) players that join together just get autobalanced against each other anyways, I don’t think it matters.
However, Hot Join is pretty much the only decent option for small groups (less than 5) of friends to jump in some casual PvP (not sure if less than 5 people can even queue for tPvP anymore, but I don’t see why you would want to do that anyways). I mean, if I just want to run a few games of PvP with my wife, we can’t solo Q together, we can’t do full group tournaments, and even when we hot join, we have to hope the autobalance doesn’t try to break us up.
Honestly though, experienced full groups of players have little reason to stomp in hot joins since the glory/rank is better in tournaments anyways.
Look at it from a higher ranking hj hero’s POV…
These low rank players very often are completely ignoring the game objectives to duel/die in the roads. The mid-high rankers who try to help them and give advice are either ignored, or laughed/raged at for suggesting they try in lolhotjoin. That kills the motivation to help.
On top of that, after a match or two it’s clear who you want on your team and who is a liability. As unfun as it is to zergstomp noobs, it’s way less fun to be that one guy on your team trying to cap and win, while a half dozen rank nothings get farmed.
The new scoring has helped a little. I suggest some type of MMR system where hotjoin is just that. You join and get placed in a room with similarly ranked players. Teams should be randomized each match. Give a quitter debuff instead of autobal. Draconian and WoW-like perhaps, but then at least it would be “fair.”
stacking doesn’t work that well due to auto balance
hotjoin is the only option right now. tpvp is kinda lame with those pve rewards.
Oh But its great fun when playing hotjoin against 5 people in the same guild. I’m sure it was complete coincidence that they ended up on the same team in the same server.
stacking doesn’t work that well due to auto balance
Autobal very rarely prevents stacking. Just spectate, wait for autobal again and get back on the winning team. That’s how servers die right now. Everyone trying to game the autobal or stack at the beginning and you end up with a full server and 15 spectating a 3v2.

oic, yea it’s annoying when you have all these spectators all spamming the stacked team to make it more stacked

Very much so, I hope when enough ppl know how to game the autobal they might change it.
Last few comments summed up most hot join servers.
