Hot Join vs Solo Arena vs Team Arena
not everyone wants to wait for a match to begin.
please stop blaming hotjoin for your bad experiences in solo arena / team arena already.
differences:
hot join
- no need to wait
- can join in anytime
- can leave anytime
- casual
solo arena
- must wait
- can only join in before start of match
- cannot leave anytime
- competitive
Who said I was blaming hotjoin for anything? I just dont understand why they have the 3 different modes. I can see 2, one for coordinated group effort, and one for joining up solo.
To re-phrase, why have a split between hot-join and solo arena? I don’t see the point.
Solo Arena and Hot Join are both competitive and arguably both casual.
“Why split the community this way?”
i see that as if you are blaming hotjoin due to not enough players in solo arena.
no. you are wrong.
solo arena = competitive
hot join = casual
both cater for different groups of players.
The fact that you can join them by yourself makes them casual.
The fact that you are competing against other players makes them competitive.
You don’t understand the words you use.
90% of the time I can guarantee a win on my team in hotjoins but in soloq its a 50/50 because the majority of players are more skilled.
For example Ive never had anyone try to stop me from taking stillness and tranq in any hotjoin Ive ever played
I heard that in solo queue people try to cap some points and do all kind of other boring stuff. 8 vs 8 hot join is best what sPvP can offer.

players who spend time in hotjoins do not necessarily play to win the match. they simply find joy in the process be it winning, losing, escaping from certain death, finding uninterrupted 1 v 1, enjoying zerging etc.
in solo arena it is different. players play to win and blame their random team mates when they lost.
you, clearly, have no idea what casual and competitive means.
Deimos thank you for proving my points for me. Now, the question still stands, why bother having a difference between hot join and solo queue?
IMO
Hotjoin > yoloQ for pvp’ers (no rewards)
Hotjoin < yoloQ for pve’ers (rewards)
TeamQ = voip (mix of pvp’ers and pve’ers)
Deimos thank you for proving my points for me. Now, the question still stands, why bother having a difference between hot join and solo queue?
because most people still prefer to play casually on hotjoin servers.
hot join can start and stop anytime.
solo arena cannot.

solo and team arena are separated because when they werent teams were stomping solo players (or even coordinated teams with voip were stomping pugs from the mists who didnt want to join solo, so just getting a team werent always a solution) and it was not fun for both of them… it is better this way…
difference between solo/team and hot join is obvious for everyone i hope… but if its not…
hot join is without any obligations or restrictions, you can join/leave anytime, you can do what you want, you can try new build, you can troll, you can 1v1 if you want and if others let you, its just hot join… solo arena is competitive play and it is required to play seriously, this means punishing for afk, leaving, trolling etc, question is if this punishment is already big enough to force people to take it seriously, but i dont meet many trolls and even leavers are not as common as they used to be
