introduce a new option, call it “Shuffle” or maybe some other better name if anyone can somehow come up with a better one.

this Shuffle is enabled by default for all custom arenas official hosted by anet.
with Shuffle enabled, the following will occur:
- if one team is dominating the other by a wide margin, say by at least 200 points, Shuffle will auto activate and shuffle the players according to experience (total amount of games played) in order to better mix the teams around.
- any players who got shuffled to the other team will receive auto balance rewards.
- if the teams are not even, the losing team will have one more player.

another one of the current trend in hotjoin is that, experienced players often stack in one team while obliterating the other team with less experienced or less skilled players etc.

perhaps this not so simple fix may address this issue a bit?

Well, this could be an idea, but why not directly fixing the problem, instead of finding a solution after the problem occured?

I think that they should just remove the “pre-match” spectate, automatically filling the teams when the new map loads. This will not, of course, 100% prevent the problem of one team dominating the other, but I pretty sure it would drastically reduce it.

No more “oh, blue won, let’s join blue!” or “oh, there are 2 rank 80 on blue and 2 rank 5 on red, let’s go blue!”. Everything would be completely random (asking for a sort of mmr for hotjoin is something which requires too time to implement, so just go for the random thing) and if people decides to spectate, others might automatically join, preventing the people who spectated to join again.

i agree with frenk, the better option would be to remove team select and change spectator so if people spectate a match don’t let them join it until the match is over.

its such a simple change, its crazy that anet haven’t added this.
and like frenk said, it wouldn’t be perfect balance ofcourse,
teams can always get majorly outplayed,
but it’d be a hell of a lot more balanced than it is now.

yeah hotjoin should be random, spectator mode is only useful for streaming and king of the hill anyway.

well, randomly shuffling the teams based on their experience should be okay too.

hmmm so what does everyone else think about mid match shuffling?
