I really think what spvp needs is a place where new players can actually have a place to play unranked matches but still have the tournament playstyle. Make unranked matchmaking system and take out hot-join servers.

I really think arenanet should consider this so people can actually learn how to play in tournaments(ranked), how the game was intended to be played. They have hot-join but 8v8 does nothing to show how the player should be playing the gametype(its just a zerg fest). This in no way teachs the new players on how the gamemode was intended to be played and they also have no real reason to want to win the match. Making matches very dull and boring.

I think arenanet should step it up another notch with a matchmaking(unraked) for people to get a feel for the game before going into ranked matchs this would help people practice without having to worry about rating and would help people in general with introducing how spvp/gametype was intended to be played.

With this change you could add a reward chest giving new skins/dyes/crafting mats and some extra rank points/glory for winning so people actually want to capture and hold points because they are going to want to win since now they have more incentive to do so.

So what do you guys think?

The problem is people who want to zerg on overpowered DPS cannons. How do you stop them from doing that?

Not really sure what your getting at???

But if people want to run glass cannon builds then let them do it.

If they still want to zerg in a 5v5 match they will likely loss to a group that is more
Organized in capturing and holding points.(of course the zerg can still possibly win for being a more powerful group and other team lacking knowledge)

its already ingame but i guess to hard for most ppl to find it

you dont need to play 8v8 hotjoin you can do it 5v5 too^^

maby arenanet should add a big button 8v8 and one 5v5

I suggest that they remove hotjoin and instead add an unranked matchmaking system just like how ranked games are set up right now. This would help people get prepared for ranked games.

Stop the nonsense 8v8 games which in no way teach new players on how to play spvp.

I would think arenanet would like their players to play spvp on how it was intended and teach them the right way to play it instead of boring zerg v zerg battles… you go to wvw for that.

Yes i do know they have 5v5 servers but whenever i join one of these servers usually the teams are always unbalanced since people keep leaving/joining( i know this can happen in ranked servers but usually its more unlikely). Not really a good experience.

Yea, remove hot join compleatly. If people want to zerg they can go to WvW. The way hotjoins are beeing played now discurages any common sense play in tournaments. People at lower ratings play 5v5 tournaments like hotjoins. They dont watch on twich GW2 pvp and they have no ways of learning to play tactics.

play unranked matches in regular servers.

You want duels? play them in regular servers.

What else do you want? Play it in a regular server.
