Hotjoin used to be exciting. 16 maniacs blasting each other to hell and back. limiting to 5v5 means endless 3v2 matches. Boring and forces 1v1 specs. Please fix.

you can thank the team swap exploit for that.

funny isn’t (it, people find a way to exploit the system in pve, it gets fixed within 2 weeks,
people find a way to exploit the system in pvp, it gets ignored for months…

this exploit has ruined pvp for me, i’ve not logged on since last wednesday,
but all anet only seem to care when its their precious pve.

also yeah, 8v8 was the most fun i’ve had in pvp,
before skyhammer, before 5v5, before swapping exploits,
basically before Anet ruined everything.

Besides Hotjoin needing to have the imbalanced teams to get fixed, I agree with you Faeyd. Keeping the matches always 5v5 with the same game mechanic (Conquest) makes for a pretty stale experience as far as variety is concerned. Those 8v8 matches are a fun frenzy, and the dynamic is completely different than playing 5v5. There is no reason hotjoining can’t have both. While they are at it, it would be nice if Anet actually made a map that could accompany 10v10 or 15v15 to further diversify what the meta is. Builds would be all over the place with different gameplay maps AND different numbers of players per team. This would, you know, actually make the game more diverse and FUN.

I do wish they’d bring back 8v8, yes. It’s too zergy for official competitions, but it also promoted a much more freewheeling PvP style. Newbies are more likely to just hop in since unless one team has like, all rank 60+ and the other has <20’s, your sheer numbers will likely make up for any inexperience or lack of skill.

Team imbalances also have less of an effect; a 4v5 means that the understrength team is down in strength by about 20%. In contrast, a 7v8 is down in strength by less than 10%, which means that the understrength team could still win if they have good players to carry them.
