Why is there such a big Xp difference between winning and loosing in hotjoin when players constantly, join, leave, swap team ?

An example of how bad the Xp system is:
Match A:
The score is 180-50:
I join the loosing team
The team works hard to win ,
During 8 minutes I score 200 points, team lost 500-475
Earn 160 xp.

Match B:
The score is 300-20
I join the winning team
Team is just zerking the spawn of other team
During 1 minute I score 10 points, team win 500-80
I earn 165 xp

So basically there is no point to join the loosing team in an ongoing match and
it is more rewarding/faster to swap team/server and join a winning team if your team is loosing.

How frustrating is that system ?

- My suggestion is make no Xp difference between winning and loosing in hotjoin.
- Give a Xp boost depending on time played, player score.

I know people are going to argue that hotjoin is not serious and just blablabla, but I constantly see players/groups playing for hours in this mode. Players in the loosing team should be able to earn as much reward as the winner in this mode considering the constant changes. What do you think ?

No, you should not get the same amount of rank points for losing as you do winning. They already prop up bad play by awarding anything to the losing team. Anet needs to make hotjoin an actual place for beginners to learn about conquest mode rather than zergfest 2014. Removing the team swap ability and taking away losing points would make people actually participate in conquest and maybe try to win rather than just killing everything.

And how would you fix people leaving ? By the time auto-balance happens the match is lost. So your suggestion is to keep a bad system bad or make it even badder ? Please do make fun of me…

You learn more from mistakes than success, no reason to not reward the losing team?

I believe that the rank point rewards should be 300 for winning and 250 for losing in hotjoin, because of how terrible it is for this game’s pvp. The low rank points per game played would encourage players to Queue up for Tpvp instead, which is the intended way to PvP in this game.

I am utterly disgusted that such a mess of a game mode is even rewarded to be honest, but 300 for winning and 250 for losing would at least minimize the team switching issue, while promoting Qeuing for increased rewards.

Also, hotjoin was made for people To be able to come and go as they please… Therefore forcing them to finish would probably keeping people out because they are only there waiting for there queue to pop. So forcing them to stay is impossible but you can get them to atleast stay on the same team and attempt to win.
Also, if they leave before te match ends you don’t recieve anything so them leaving doesn’t benefit them.

I agree with that.

Therefore forcing them to finish would probably keeping people out because they are only there waiting for there queue to pop. So forcing them to stay is impossible but you can get them to atleast stay on the same team and attempt to win.

Yes players will still leave but in that case the whole team is penalized , that’s why team reward should be minimized in this mode. Also you should know most players just wait to see which team has the advantage at the start of a game, then they snipe the join button. Most of the time a 50-100 points lead is unrecoverable.

One’s trophy is only worth the effort put to obtain it, giving one to those who did nothing but brainlessly play while simply having a better team is no better than giving one to the guy who played the best they could while having an inferior team.

I agree with the OP. The reward gap in HJ should be narrowed down BUT the overall average reward for HJ should be lowered. So winning rewards should be lowered while losing rewards be raised.

This will help stop the desperate need to team switch or rank stack. HJ isn’t competitive anyway, anyone who is arguing that losers should not be rewarded are kidding themselves, it takes no skill to win in HJ. We all know that high rank players stack teams. I do it too. I can win almost every match by manipulating the system.

HJ will never be competitive so why make the reward for winning so much better than losing?

how about we make the rewards exactly the same as the team score?

for example,

say 16 players participate in the match fully, from start to end.

blue vs red
500 vs 450

each blue team player gets 500 rank points, plus any top stats they got.
each red team player gets 450 rank points, plus any top stats they got.

another example

blue vs red
500 vs 250

each blue team player gets 500 rank points, plus any top stats they got.
each red team player gets 250 rank points, plus any top stats they got.

players who did not participate 100% only get partial rewards.

This is an old discussion. Look back at threads 6 months ago or so about this topic.

The current reward system is a response to what was happening before.

Before, the developers were rewarding the winner and loser more equally, and people were not trying to win.

Instead they were too often just farting around in a deathmatch mode paying no attention to coordination or holding objectives to get the win..

I am getting tired of people in hotjoin for the same reasons as the Origional Poster. Everyone always joins the winning team. If they’re on the losing team, they spectate until they can fight their way onto the winning team. If you do not believe that this is a problem, play a hotjoin game and watch how many spectators there are when the losing team is down a player.

I don’t care about the losing team getting more, less, equal rank points. I just don’t want these degenerates to get rewarded for stacking games. There has to be a solution. Something like : at the end of the match, the server calculates how long the match took, and how long each player spent on the winning and losing side and in spectator and awards appropriately. That’s just an idea I came up with, so I challenge you developers who might be reading this post to come up with something better. Until then, I think I’ll leave hotjoin and only play on my Guild’s server where we can drop-kick hot-joiners who stack for the win.

I’m sorry to say this again, but all those problems that pop up with hotjoin, I’d rather see it removed.
Instead add a unranked queue for Tpvp. This way you can still test builds and whatnot but in a little bit more of a competitive setting. Meanwhile put every -r10 (or even 20) in those unranked queues before they’re able to join soloq/teamq.

I think this would be a valid change but Anet wants to keep those CA’s, I guess. And CA’s are great for organising pvp events but again it’s abusable too.

Well, I just don’t enjoy being placed on a team that does not try to win. I watch who is actually playing to win, and I join them.

Also, when someone drops out and it becomes 5v4, I always force an autobalance.

And that’s not happening now? Except right now, it’s usually rank stacked running around in zergs. Like I said before, HJ will never be competitive, stop kidding yourselves. But we can fix it so that everyone can have a good time in it instead of the stupidly overwhelmingly one sides matches we get so often.
