“How did I do in that match?”
That’s always the question.
But there’s no good way to know.
You want to feel you did well. You want to be proud of your performance.
You want to feel that you are good and getting better all the time.
But what are the indicators?
Did your team win? How much of that was you? Or was in spite of you?
Because of the variation in skill level on random teams, it’s SO hard to really know how you did compared to your expected performance.
Your expected performance is actually based on the handicap the matcher has placed on your team, or the advantage it gave your team. Neither of which are always very obvious.
When you look at the scoreboard after the match, did the top player really earn those points? Or did they “tag” and ride the coat tails of the three middle players?
Imagine of at the start of the game, a big white-lettered message appears announcing that “Red team has a 90% chance of winning, based on MMR and class matchups”.
At least you, on Blue Team, would know the real situation. Or closer to it.
