hey all,

Im looking for advice on how to move faster in PvP….not as in buffs, but from controls.

I usually use the WASD to move about, but when every I come across really good players they seem to be running circles around me…they move back and forth really fast.

Should I be doing something different? I’m not new to PvP, but I feel like i’ve hit a glass ceiling of some sort, and would like to learn better gaming habits if possible.

The boon swiftness makes them faster.

1. don’t use A D. just use your mouse to turn around.
2. try not to use S so much it’s super slow
3. use Q E to strafe left or right.

It’s properly the use of Q+E to strafe as this is faster than the backward walk, the is also an 180 about turn key in the control options thats unbinded by default, that is very handy for movement

IMO, scrap A and D as your turn keys and remap them to strafing. Mouse turning will always be faster than keyboard turning, and avoid moving backward with S completely as it’s much slower. I like to use Q for my heal skill and then set up my utilities for E, R and T. The less you have to move your hand while playing, the better. Good luck!

I honestly don’t know if pure strafing is actually a good idea in GW2. I do know, I couldn’t get rid of it, even if I tried. Never seen a game that handles strafing as poorly as GW2, since it slows you down as much as backpedaling for some reason.

The fastest way to move around in combat is probably a combination of just moving with your mouse (RM + LM), while holding your strafe key at the right time to get LoS on your target before the ability fires.

This is what I did:

I’m not a good pvper, I have poor reaction time and very very bad hand eye coordination. So I can’t move my hands very quickly and hit the correct key. The faster I try to go the more I screw up. It’s a massive curve on the screwing up part. So I just stop trying to be serious and enjoy it. I know I’ll never finish a monthly achievement because I don’t do tourneys. Again because I’m terribad.

MMO’s have a very poor way of getting a skill separation thing going. If an MMO came out that assured me that I would only play other terribads like myself, I’d play that game and quit everything else.

I’m not good, I keep fighting people that are. People that are very very good, and it’s usually what convinces me to stop playing the game entirely.
