How'd your season go?
Fun, stressful, interesting.
The meta this season for Thief was condi hands down. Nearly every game this season had one of those which was frustrating but really interesting that Thieves had two viable options this season. Comes to show how just one little trait and skill adjustment can completely alter the meta!
For the first time ever I reached legendary rating using a bunker Mesmer. Bunker mes is completely underrated since people think “that” patch killed Chronobunker, well the truth is a few trait/skill/stat changes did the trick for me in bringing chronobunker back. It’s not a true bunker, more like a bruiser ala Druid / Scrapper.
Oh and after the elite change for Ventari revenant, a lot more of those too. On that note condi Revenant has made a fair comeback. All in all this season was interesting—a couple shakeups in the meta but similar to the last two.

i dunno i didnt bother… gotta get the wvw back legendary lol
Black Gate
Ruthless Legend
Pretty kitten
Amazing start though, my 10th match qualified me for tier 2/3 gold and its my first time playing ranked
I got off afterwards and hopped on the next day to be welcomed to plat where the hell truly began
I took 7 straight losses back to back which put me back in gold (1 match we loss which ill take responsibility for cause their thief was just better than me and was keeping me on lockdown) but the rest I have no clue.
One team even tried to blame me for losing cause I didn’t have a boon rip set up and the other team had a boon share rev….my issue there was…..I got top defense and top damage (I almost broke 500k in damage) yet it was my fault we lost….I’ll never understand how.
I eventually made my way back to plat and that’s where it left off
Gonna have to wait till next season to get my wings…..fml
Good matches, bad timing on my part. I tried to push for top 25… I should have tried harder earlier. I kept pushing things off b/c of work (which is good), but I’m disappointed I couldn’t make it…
I make PvP & WvW videos
Matchmaking still broken. Mostly blowouts, a handful nice games. MM needs fixing.
I made a lot of gold. rewards were good.
fisrt time I made it to platinum, can’t believe there are idiots even at this skill level.
I ended up pretty, well rating of about 1624 playing s/d power thief soloq. Granted no leaderboard cause I didn’t play enough due to work and other desires in this game.
Getting there? So kitten stressful. It was pure luck of the draw to see who would be on your team and who was on the other team. Same cheese builds were carrying the same bad players and it was very evident when the complete noob carry potential of the builds ran out because you’d start having matches where you had to carry like a madman due to your team being near perma downstate. The worst part was the meta we had to play in imo. It’s so stale and there’s so much bs in this game it just kinda ruined the excitement of fights. Condi thief cancer, pathing bugs, dh (cause hardcounters are annoying), druid, etc.
I could complain for awhile about that but I don’t need to because we’ve all heard it before.
I played my placement matches on a few different professions to settle on one. Did really badly, since I don’t normally play those professions (some of them). Placed Tier 1 Silver, decided to roll a Glass Staff Elementalist, and worked my way to T3 Gold. I stopped playing mostly after that. I did a few extra games at the end as Rev, thief and Engie. I was about 40 points from Platinum.
Played about 38 games all season.
Given how my final 6 games went on Engie (5/6 wins), I’m pretty confidant I’d have made it to Plat. I didn’t really feel like grinding though. I got 1 grandmaster crafting mark, and that was as much pvp as I could do in one season.
I quit after about 40 games even though my w-l percentage was about 65%. The skill level was as low as its ever been. Same uneven unfun matches for the most part.
Looks like I’m going to get Merciless Legend. So I’d say pretty darn good for my first PvP season.
I thought it was ok, it didn’t have all the crap of s5, and the population was better than s6.
Got a little tilted toward the end though because of being a necro main queuing in platinum where everyone else is a Thief/Mesmer/power rev with a spattering of guardians and scrappers.
YouTube
The game is severely lacking players who know basic rotational tactics, which makes it hard to advance out in the 1500-1600 range without being dominant ala someone as good as Sindrener or Helseth (but maybe not quite as good)
Every single game there’s a Druid on the opposite team who 1v2(or 3)‘s our home. That’s hyperbolic, but that’s the kind of play there is around the top 250.
Which basically says that the game lacks good players which is unfortunate.
I did notice I did much better when I did the same “cheese” tactics, but that’s not really cheese just taking advantage of players who don’t know how to do anything other than fight. They need duel arenas for simple minded players like that.
Sorry, it’s boring playing only carry classes like Engi/Ranger/Ele, while the others need a very high skill level to carry with.

I started at low plat, dropped to heckin’ SILVER, but finished at low gold. Got lucky in placements, I guess. This was my first season seriously PvPing – there’s a lot of catching up to do with folk who have doing this consistently since release.
Even though I lost a bunch, I still had a ton of fun! Plus I managed to make an engi build that’s both fun and effective in my hands. Next season, I hope to earn that platinum for real.
Shame that so matches were rolls, but I used the opportunity to re-examine what I was doing and drastically improve my playstyle. The close matches are always WAY more fun, and I’d rather lose in a situation where I feel like I could have turned into a win with better decision making.
Can’t wait until next season! I want those legendaries real bad.
I started the season in gold. Stopped playing ranked when it became one blow out after another.
Oh well, maybe next time.
I stopped giving 2 Fups =d about it day the Arena opened up. Been stomping legendary players regularly. So worth it….also be cause my inventory was full which I may or may not make a post about. Inventory Clutter. I have pics. Horrendous.
PLaced in Gt3 stayed got one match away from Pt1 took a break. Saw I had decayed….and then stopped caring. Played a match every so often the Arena was empty.
the problem is that players are just so bad… made it to plat 2 to on a eu f2p and stayed there. Mostly on thief and guard. Great farm.

Solo queueing thief, I started gold 2 and crossed plat for the first time. I’m now hanging around ~1550 rating. Official rating is 1536, since I got a week without playing and I played only 104 games in ranked….First time I’m not doing the quota in a season.
I really got better this season. Learning to use shortbow to temporize duels ( especially vs thieves ) really helped with survivability and rotations.
I think I started at Silver 1 and ended up in Platinum 2. I played around 150 games, won more than 50%. With the inclusion of legendary armor to PvP, I’m just going to focus on playing as many games as possible and not caring about winning/losing as much. I have enough shards and tickets for 2 legendary items so I’m going to try and finish the last 4 once the new season starts.

I’m sorry but this is the problem with PvP rewards at the moment. It’s great that it draws more people into PvP (and well done on that climb to P2), but whenever a system rewards losses and encourages “I don’t care about winning/ losing” mentality, the quality of pvp becomes awful.
Sure, keep PvE rewards in PvP, but make people earn rather than grind them. This applies to all abilities of PvP.

If a system didn’t reward losing then you won’t have many people playing. It’s pretty much a catch 22. But I played my games sparingly because I didn’t want to get stuck in a massive losing slide. I could’ve easily doubled my games played but chose not to. Now, I don’t have an incentive to keep rank because I know I’ll never reach legendary so it’s moot for me to really care about rank. To clarify what I Mean that I don’t care about winning/losing is what I just wrote – instead of limiting my game play to keep rank, now I won’t care about doing so and will play (to win – winning grants more pips) but I don’t care if I lose.
Fun, cool, a lot of people blocked, peaking the top 250.
Really, a have fun time. I don’t remember if I got low plat1 o high gold3 then half of the season I had been bouncing between those tiers reaching the lowest at gold 2 but some how it is noticeable the difference of experience. Ending the season, I got a amazing win streak and got 1650~. I should quit playing but noo… I kept playing and bounced between plat1 and 2. In general, it was a mental and emotional test that I think I pass.
Sadly, I learned that you play all the season for nothing because a lot of people (or accounts I should say?) appeared from the nothingness with the 120 -130 matches the last week of the season. And I ended with 1631 but I was pushed me away from the top 250
Well. I think that the next season will include PoF spec and it should be more challenging and creepy. I am waiting for it!
Started good with high gold, stayed good for awhile then it went to hell real fast, got more than one insane losing streak and fell down hard into Silver. Ended near high silver. Necromancer solo queue for someone that isn’t a pro is extremely feast or famine.
Only played when I had my buddy online to test Seasons from a non solo play PoV.
Won 9 out of 12 of my matches ended in Tier 2 gold, instead of Bronze Tier 3 when solo queuing. The few matches I got to play in gold was decent. I refuse to solo queue and will not play rank unless my buddy is online. Playing Ranked solo is just pure kittening cancer, and the system purposely make solo’s afk for rewards or get rekt in highly unbalanced matches.
I honestly think if my buddy had more time. I could’ve easily ended in Plat this season. Our Herald/Druid combo was pretty good.
But at least I admit it!
PoF guys get ready for PvE joys
Started late, quit early after I finished out my leggy wings. Practical rating was mid gold or so(now effectively low bronze from decay… lmao anet sure being away two weeks makes me trash tier w/e). To some extent, I think that rating is accurate. I did take heavy losses when I had to switch to other professions for my wings – I still feel the painful losing streak from Scrapper (10 losses, no wins) and the sub-comparable stats from DH(17 wins, probably something like 25 losses), but I’m really happy with my stats as mesmer and thief.
Way I figure, if you’re good, playing a rotating class causes the stats to more adequately reflect your actual skill rather than the modifier from playing one of the main fighters and being subject to how much your team actually works together. You’re also guarenteed to have a rotating class, whereas if you aren’t a thief/mes, there’s decent odds you won’t have either on your team and will have to pick up the slack yourself on one of the less mobile classes.
Thankfully, now that I’m out of backpack hell, I can probably play with much less stress since I don’t need to secure profession wins. Maybe I’ll pick up something else and feel enabled to swap more often before the match…
I wasn’t going to PvP at all until, I heard about legendary armor. anyways, I decide to queue up at the end. Played a few matches. I will have to try and play more during next season. Hopefully with a more viable reaper class not scourge, reaper.
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.
Hm, I didn’t put very much effort into this season. I got qualified with Silver which was more than Bronze I got for the previous season. As my skill level after Celestial removal is between silver and bronze, this is fine for me. So, I only played ranked to keep the decay away. I mostly play Battle of Champion’s Dusk which is currently at unranked only.
The good thing is that I’ve got lots of transmutation charges and quite an ammount of gold, that’s always good. Overall it was quite an irritating experience. I don’t really know if I did good or bad due to too many lopsided matches where either my team wrecked the opponent, or the other way around. Easy wins, easy losses. My jimmies were also a bit rustled becuase I got to 250 but didn’t have enough matches to make it count in the system. Was about to get back to 250 but met with a guy who literally threw matches. For the whole duration of the season I was stuck between plat tier 1 and 2, mostly winning/losing one sided massacres. I’ve faced players who (due to their skill) didn’t deserve a place in 250 but got there due to sheer luck of soloq or a good duoq. It left a bitter taste in my mouth.
Pmeh. I was at 1590 at one point, and there you have to both be lucky and grind.
I dipped down to gold a few times and stomped my way back up.
Hoping for a top 250 finish next season duoq.. its only 4 wins away at 1635… just gotta find a duoq partner.

Started out better than I had in previous seasons, until I hit a 12 game losing streak. Decided I didnt care about my MMR anymore since the matchmaker is crap. Just played for gold and rewards instead of placement.
I made some gold, but I already used it for PvE. I am currently trying to learn more PvE because PvP is no longer an option. PoF comes with no PvP content, so there is no point in playing PvP anymore.
