How do you deal with minion mancers
Well I am not good at these things iether but as long as I go 1 Vs 1 against a MM-tanky build can handle them.
First of all I try to put down as many AoE’s as possible and i single out the MM’s Blood Fiend first of all and after that I focus everything on the MM. This though requires that you are not a tanky build yourself becouse then you will take to much time getting down the MM before it can resummon it’s Minions and also go into Shroud mode to earn some more time to get it’s minions back.
I mostly play Cele Symbol/med Guard and Cele Bomb Engineer and can handle most of them pretty easy if as I said it’s 1 Vs 1 if not I get a hard time.

Which class are you playing? As a well necro, minion mancers are very easy. Throw some marks, throw a couple of wells, switch to Death Shroud, hit “4”, and minions are dead. Necromancer is then alone and can be easily killed.
On the other hand, if your build focuses on single target damage, you’re dead. The MM has too much sustain if you can’t take out the minions.
Lots of aoe and crowd control will mess them up. That said, if they are death/blood/soul with soldiers amulet, just realize that they are incredibly tanky.
You might be better off just going to a different point, and waiting until your team can try to aoe them.
I have been using:
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-3_-33;0kH-D0z3gI-K0;9;489A;0036257147;4PBZ520;0TsW6TsW66U
which is much more tanky than the metabattle listed mm build. You can switch death perception for foot in the grave, but honestly the build is tanky enough to get messed up a bit with crowd control and not die, and death perception is really sweet.
What are the traits and armor that make it hard to kill?
- Necro has high natural health and on top of that we have soldiers amulet plus melandru runes.
- Death makes it hard to kill because of increased armor and minions taking conditions.
- Blood makes it hard to kill because of vampiric abilities and unholy martyr. Unholy martyr is this life force battery where when you apply conditions to minions around the necromancer, you just let him stay in death shroud longer.
- Soul makes it hard to kill because it helps life force management.
If I were to choose another profession to fight the above build and win, it would probably be some crowd-control-heavy mesmer sort of build. Also probably a ranger spamming longbow at max range would work.
Throw some marks, throw a couple of wells, switch to Death Shroud, hit “4”, and everyone is dead.
I fixed it a bit,but this summarizes Necro gameplay perfectly..
The only thing I would add is some 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1s.

We don’t know what class you play but I usualy concentrate in positioning their minions in a way where I attack both the player and at least 1-2 minion, with this even tho I killing minions but also putting the pressure on the player’s self health too;
Also try to watch out for the flesh golem cuz if you take out that first, you not going to see it back since it’s an 50 sec elite summong.
For example a warrior’s hundred blade is usualy dodged by the player but minions will hang around long enough in it to die.

Is your class “Target – Light Golem”?
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
Yeah, that spec seems incredibly tanky. I tend to just rotate to other points.
Minion Master is basically made for 1v1 side point tanking. Tricks:
- AOE
- Ranged***
- Kite pets to higher ground and kite them, they’re usually pretty dumb.
- More AOE
- +1 them, no pets cleave and they are easy to over-pressure.
- Moa
- Force them to avoid team fights, ignore them, essentailly. Let them weigh down their team.
Not saying they aren’t strong, they can be decently strong 1v1, but they can also be a huge burden to a team as well since they’re basically good for 1 thing and even then, have some pretty hefty hard-counters.
Hope this helps!

Come on. Necro bottom tier class. Are you guys seriously complaining about it too?
I’m at loss at words to describe this absurdity.
Already quit PvP. Just log in here and there to troll.
MM is a bunker spec, you shouldn’t be trying to kill it unless you have enough aoe to burn all the minions before backup arrives.
Minions remove conditions from the necro and heal the necro if he picked up vampiric traits. You have to kill the minions if you want to have a shot at killing the necro. Going straight for the necro will just get you killed.
On the plus side, minions do not dodge and cannot be controlled to move out of aoe. You literally just need to place down some aoe and they will all die.
Things that are super effective vs MM necro:
1) Trap condi trap ranger (melts minions in about 3 seconds). Power LB ranger from long range can also dispatch the necro without ever taking a hit.
2) Shortbow berserker thief. Cluster bomb 2-3x and all the minions are dead. Then the necro is basically naked with no support and utility skills
3) D/D or Staff ele – better sustain and that fire field melts minions super quick.
4) Condi engi – bombs + grenades = dead minions.
5) Shatter mesmer (just have to make sure you use blurred frenzy and shatter in the middle of the minions). A three clone mind wrack and one blurred frenzy should kill all the minions, including the golem.
6) Celestial Hambow warrior is also quite good vs MM. Not many other real options for warrior unless you want to do stances + offhand axe.
7) Burn and medi guardian melts MM.
8) Power necro + wells obliterates MM.
Are you an engi or mes? Moa and GG.
Are you not an engi or mes? Get to cleaving the minions. Once the minions are down, take your time reking the necro if you can neutralize, since they don’t really deal much damage on their own.

Not really on these. The minions are likely to just load you up with all the conditions you just applied, and the Necro can handle condition pressure much better than you can on either of these builds. Especially when it’s returned to you fivefold.
Bring poke-balls or a bunch of your own pokemon! Better yet, just fire up your gameboy and enjoy the REAL game!
Moa is the easiest way to beat a MM necro.
The minions are actually pretty dumb and can be kited. They also don’t defend themselves much at all.
Personally, I ignore the minions and zero in on the necro. If I notice a coterie of Minions strung out behind a necro that’s travelling, I will attack the Flesh Golem to kitten them a bit.
certain builds can’t deal with them in 1v1…. ppl have to realize that not every build can win any 1v1 (neither should they).
In teamfights, just AoE or spike them down.
I kill blood fiends and wyrms whenever I see them. If you can deal damage at range, you should be able to kill MMs without problems and kite away if needs be. I don’t play melee often, and don’t really want to imagine how that would pan out…
Zoo necros are basically the new turret engie, takes about as much skill and is about as effective.
The problem is that it is so easy to play and do nothing to hold a point that it is quickly becoming the only thing most necros will play. That is pretty much on Anet.

Uh. It’s not even close to the same.
Turrets couldn’t be kited (Los, yes but on point that doesn’t matter much), had 1500 range, immune to conditions, self healing, more DPS, brainless CC, and half the abilities used, almost literally.
Let’s not fool ourselves. They aren’t even close to the same level.
But yeah, they still 1v1 certain builds without enough cleave or sustain as long as they’re not in a team fight. That’s what they have going for them…
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
I said about as effective, they are not as effective but the necro itself is much harder to kill so it sorta makes up for it.
My point was that it has taken the place of turret engie and does a pretty good job at it and it is about as hard to play. Which means it is a tanky stupid spec that is just annoying and maybe needs to be toned down while other things get a buff so necros can play a real build.
It’s probably not the right thing to do in PvP, but if I see a MM sitting on far point, I ignore him and help mid and wait for someone else to go far before I follow to help for a quick kill…
(I don’t play AoE heavy classes)
….. And Elementalist.
Do not engage him 1v1, you’re no top and pro player (neither i). bring your friend preferably Skirmisher, kill the life stealing minion to neutralize his big heal and heal/sec make him go Deathshroud as soon as possible. Taunt work as well, especially in teamfight.
Although rumors says, turning him into a Moa will make him useless. who knows?
Between a master and apprentice, i would love to see the differences.
Moa blows all of his minions up.

Lol, no. I maybe see MM 1 out of every 10 necros I encounter. I also main necro and I never play MM, except when I FIRST started GW2 and had no idea how bad the AI was.
Just kill the blood fiend first – there goes the healing skill. Then focus MM. Throw down wells, Moa, they’re not difficult if you can target the actual MM. IMO, the only benefit MM has is distracting the other player
((helping out non-thinkers since 1989))
I really dont understand this post, MM are terrible, their pets do nothing half the fights they go into and just stand there 2 feet from the enemy.
Its a bunker build, if you are burst, they are meant to counter you.

As others have said, minion mancers are still bad. They can bunker home against at most half of the current meta builds, and against the others they should get destroyed. They aren’t good at anything else. If you don’t have cleave or aoe, you can ignore them at far most of the time, and if they try and come to mid just focus them down.
extra dodges, real stability, mobility skills,
burst skills, sustain, or good support. GG ANET.
Thank you all very much.
I appreciate all the friendly and constructive feedback and will definitely apply them in-game.
I don’t think necros are OP and believe they are the least OP out of all light armored classes. I just had a hard time dealing with one of the builds and would never cry for their nerf.

Worth noting that the SoV bugfix and subsequent bugging have double-nerfed the skill, which was a really good heal for MMs, and the Unholy Martyr nerf also hit MM, and was probably directed at MM builds abusing it and Unholy Sanctuary. So effectively 3 nerfs to MM this patch which will reduce the damage/sustain of the build a bit.
