Specifically shortbow/greatsword

You can’t fight them in melee because the evade everything you do.

You can’t fight them at range because they’re keep you crippled and they kite away.

usually I try to line of sight them, and it just becomes a big war of attrition that they always win. I can’t get in and bust them because of their disengages. Fighting them is suicide, running is suicide.

Aoe the spirits.

Rangers are weak against those 3

Depends a bit on your profession to be honest.

if you have aoe condi, dot up ranger & pet then focus pet when EB triggers.

in general, you can guarantee effects will land if you target the pet vs the ranger ( pet can’t evade ) & if pet dies, no more condi cleanse for Ranger.

dogs are also the source of much of the control you are having trouble with, as the only cripple on SB/GS is a 3s cripple on SB4, but the dogs have 5s+ cripples + knockdown & Fear/Immob. dogs die fast without BM traits. edit: forgot about cripple on GS4 Sword Throw, but that has a huge telegraph.

don’t give up your back against the weaponset if you can help it, or About Face to accept CC while kiting so you are only dazed instead of stunned ( presuming this might be a 30 Skirmishing Ranger with double duration stuns ).

What class are you?

I’ve never seen a spirit ranger use greatsword… well I have but that guy also used pink moa and pig and had no runes in his armor. Sword and dagger have way more evades. If you play with energy sigil you’re pretty much like a thief but with condi damage.
