How do you gain and loose pips?
lost a 4vs5 ,lost 2 pips
They say Ponce de Leon searched for the secret behind the pip system in the early 1500s, but gave up and decided to seek the less elusive Fountain of Youth instead.
But seriously, a friend mine DC’d in a game while in a 4 man queue and lost 3 pips. His teammates didn’t lose pips due to the Forfeit, but it seems that the system decided to punish him by taking from him all the pips his team would have lost. I don’t understand.

Not a clue – I’ve tried keeping track of why I lose or gain a certain amount of pips… needless to say, i’m still stumped. This is coming from a educated graduate student. Haha!
Lost a game and got -3 pips. We had a full sapphire team with 1 ruby.
Won a game against a quad team with a ruby and gained only +1 pip.
Lost a game with an even amount of sapphire/ruby and both teams and gained +1 pip.
So many more examples that’s just not consistent at all. Nothing is consistent with this system. Ever.
Close matched won , boost your MMR by slightly , PiP is another story (the system predicts the chances that will win or loose)
You cant manipulated the system forever , by having low amount of team score deference in order to stay in the Medium MMR rating (at some point you will get in a cap in your MMR ganied and 0 or -1 points gained)
Lost a game with an even amount of sapphire/ruby and both teams and gained +1 pip.
Your ‘’hidden odds of winning’’ predicted that your team is proned to loose (by 15% for example ) ,
but because you reached ‘’a hidden threshold affected by you odds of winning’’ (lets say if you have 85% chance to win = you have to win or reach 350 Team Score ) you get a PiP even if you lose (if you won you would get 3 , while if you gave up and afk you would lost -1 , or if you reached 250 team score you would get 0)
