I want to know how a player (particularly engineer) should handle confusion once it has been applied, and that player has no condition cleanses immediately available. Generally speaking, I think there are two viable options:

1.) Try to Line of Sight enemies and use minimal defensive skills until condition cleanses are available (or condition ends).
2.) Continue fighting as normal with only slight regard to the confusion stacks.

The first option seems like it should be the correct answer when viewing confusion’s game mechanic. However, from my experience, not using or using very few skills for several seconds versus a skilled player will likely leave you dead or worse off than if you had just taken the confusion damage.

I would like to hear players’ thoughts on this. As of right now, it seems to me that if confusion can’t immediately be cleansed it is better to just ignore it, for the most part, and play on.

Depends on situation, if u ate a prybar they u should be playin passive and recover, call for a +1 from your team since you are already in a disadvantage. No shame in losing 1vs1s everyone has those….Now if you are a celestial however, you can recover from confusion then be offensive. No need to rush the fight if its too risky in my opinion unless the situation forces u to be aggressive.

Switching to longer cast time skills tends to help. When that happens on my ranger ill usually cast rapid fire or whirling defense during that confusion time. Whirling defense is nice cause it goes a long way towards resisting some of more painful engineer skills.

On my engineer though ill usually focus on skills that have there effect last awhile. Something that isn’t meant to be spammed for example. Thats usually the time ill put down the nail field. Or use jump shot or overcharged shot. Just any skill that does more than JUST damage mostly OR comes in multiple parts. In a way my goal is make sure I don’t lower the number of attacks im throwing out. Yet im using attacks that either take longer or have more significant effects to reduce the per tick damage from confusion.

I use Conjure Earth Shield number 5.
