How do you kill a guardian as a necro?
As a necromancer you can’t kill anyone in this meta in 1v1.
But if you really want to try, evade they’re spear of justice (F1) or active a stability while afflicted, making them unable to pull you, then spam some poison and try to dps as you can (I don’t know what build you’re using, a condition or a direct damage build and more), then jump on them as a reaper full of Stability and burst them. If they active F3 just more around them, cross them and hit them from behind or the side to hit them anyway. Basicly, charge them, make them use they’re F3-elite-F3 and then just kill them. If you can spam some weakness to reduce they’re dps and active Spectral Armor or other defensive skills to survive enough to see them end they’re defensive skills.
The best way to kill them is move around in melee hitting them from the side (and some skills if used right in front of them count as you’re using them on they’re back, ignoring they’re block), dodge the spear, use your stability at your best and if you can slot Nothing Can Save You to hit them with your burst when they active they’re block and think to be safe from your hits.
maintain weakness, dodge true shot and pull, use soft cc when they charge you with sword/shield, corrupt their f3, cc their heal/f2. gotta have good reflexes to get anywhere in this game.
imo the necro meta is kinda sucky. I would go with pack runes and foot in the grave. having a stunbreak on reapers shroud will save your life countless times.
Stay off point and wear them down. If you have rise, use it/minions to proc traps. DH doesn’t have much sustain if they blow their cooldowns, then go in and finish them with reaper form. Also of course avoid the F1 pull or line of sight to make it hard for them to pull.
Use power necro. Take well of corruption, nothing can save you, elite shout or plague, rise/spectral armor/flesh worm. Use axe/wh and staff. Trait spite, reaper, and the trait line that makes marks unblockable. Whenever a dh blocks with f3, if no stab is on, wail of doom > nothing can save you> axe 2.

This has to be a joke!
Necros are very capable of 1v1. With DH, all that matters is not walking into their traps and carefully waiting to burst during a window of opportunity.
Convert their Retaliation.
Don’t attack them when they have it.
Do your condi burst when their big cleanses is done.
Profit.
With lifeforce managing, you should be able to sustain a dh 1v1, you need to dodge their CC tho.

- Spectral Armor -> Shroud Combo when he jumps at you to tank the damage
- Warhorn4, NCSY!, Well of Corruption to deal with the blocks
- Line of sight is key
You won’t kill a skilled Longbow DH in open field – neither on condi nor on power reaper.

I’m playing dragonhunter now and, seriously, i never lost against a necromancer. Or only when i was with all my skills on cooldown (but every class die with his skills in cooldown).
The necro try to keep the distance? Not a problem! The DH have better dps and defence from range than the necro, and when the trap skills cd end is just the time to spear of justice>sword teleport>trap>shielkittennock back>F1 pull>LB3>>> profit, the necro is dead. if he active his stability just wait a little more, run around, active your F3 and repeat the trick. Not so hard.
If you need you can use your teleport to breakstun, your healing trap, fight some more and kite a little when he go in reaper shroud (cripple him and there’s nothing easier to flee from as a necromancer). Necromancer don’t have any good burst skill, expecially if condition, and until you don’t active your F3 (obtaining stability, if traited) he don’t have any good thing to corrupt.
In 1v1 there’s not a easier class to kill as the necromancer.
Play power, whoop their kitten
I was wondering cause they keep healing themselves and removing condis. Can they be killed? How long of a cd are their abilities on?
Forget the pie in the sky answers if they are equal skill level wise to you, and thats the only situation worth discussing, you wont beat a DH 1v1 on a necro or beat most classes really. Necros are a team fight oriented attrition class they pretty much suck at duels.
To really understand a class go play it.
This is the only chance you will really have in beating it.
Even then its risky to 1v1 a guard or any tanky class on necro. Necro is better in team fights.
Play Nos’ power build with plague and you’ll never lose 1v1 to a Guard ever again.

Lol, i find Necromancer extremaly good against Dragon Hunters in team fights. When DH players usually rely on Shield of Courage, you just cast unblockable Reaper’s Mark, so everyone can stab him in his butt :P
No matter what, take CTTB! without its stability you will be pulled into 100 traps or kept in them.
Bursting them before i get bursted or after they wasted their CDs on a teammate tends to be the best. Guards are very squishy behind all those blocks.
Even better, take “nothing can save you” and use it after you pressured them into using dodges/invuln (unless you’re sure you’ll take a lot of damage before that happens).

I kill guardians with my necro all the time, but I am not sharing my build,. seriously, later people are going to says it is over powered and wants to nerf it.
The bigger issue is that you are trying to fight ANYONE 1v1 as a Necro.
There’s a reason people who play Necro are extinct on duel servers. There’s also a reason why any team with more than 1 Necro loses far more times than other class stacking (maybe thief but Anet would have to confirm).
Even with full life force and all your cooldowns, you need to be extremely skilled to beat the kiting and sustain of other classes in a 1v1 scenario.
You just can’t play certain parts of the game and expect it to be equal as a Necro. You have lots of AOE pressure, so you basically need to always be around others and ideally have an ele or engy to support you. At the start of a match, you have to walk on egg shells to survive or risk screwing your whole team with an insta-death.
Don’t worry about beating a Guardian 1v1 (even though some of the suggestions mentioned will help). Unless you are vastly superior skill wise, he can still win by losing. Even if you have superior skill and win, it will take you longer to kill him than him kill you. Thus, you run a far greater risk of a +1 will showing up.
You’re better off not taking the risk in a 1v1 and instead going where you KNOW you will be supported.

Totally untrue imo.
