Lyssa’s Grimoire – a guide every Mesmer should read.
I honestly dont care what race my target is. If you learn builds and how to counter, its quite easy to predict, instead if react.
Especially on skyhammer against a guardian… See him swap to hammer? Keep a stunbreak or evade ready. I like Illusionary leap, and then burst after the swap, they just never see it coming.
Oh, and just go with whichever race you like best, not with the one that gives you an advantage when playing vs noobs :P
The advantage is greater than many people think.
The real issue is the advantage is greater than it should be (i.e. none).

Asura are a smaller race with smaller weapons, so give them less range and smaller AoE in PvP.
Fixed.
Just give asura cast bars to even out their advantage over other races.

Too much of a disdvantage unless rolled out for all races, and doesn’t address the targeting issue.
The advantage is quite great – it is difficult to see what asura is casting, it is difficult to spot what weapon is in the hands, it is difficult to target it in a particle effect mess if tab targeting glitches out.
My solution is one that was suggested months ago – add an option to see all enemy players as humans. So people that like those rat people for some reason can still use them in pvp just for looks, but people that want an unfair advantage cannot get it from race select.

It’s actually easier to spot a Asura leap 10 feet into the air for Earthquake instead of a Norn which leaps like 2 feet.
If anything big characters have a bigger advantage. A mesmer male norn at max height covers so much of the screen, combined with clones you cannot see kitten.
I recall this one PvP match that this one team was only naked, male, Charr Mesmers with names like Illl Illlll Il and all they did was spam confusion. They’re naked, easy kills!
For them, we were swinging wildly for what we thought was easy kills triggered confusion to much and with so many large characters on the screen we couldn’t see a thing!
The race advantage is non-existent. I main a Charr Ele at max height and I have no issues focusing smaller characters nor do I have any issue seeing key animations.
And I play with an Xbox controller, I don’t have an issue targeting. What’s the problem?
I like to think I’m the best Elementalist in the game as I yet to lose to any Elementalist in a duel, regardless of their race, I’m thinking player skill is the issue, not the race.

A tiny asura standing amidst spirits? Having trouble clicking them?
Well, suffer no more, for I’ve found a solution to all these targetting nightmares!
Introducing: tab targetting!
Tab targetting skips npcs, and will immediatally target players.
The “I cant click asuras” argument isnt really valid x.x
@ nova striker, how do you use an xbox controller :O?

I would love to see a game implement a system like this. The small race issue in pvp is common in every game I have played. Its even worse in games that really heavily on aiming to hit (no tab targeting) like Tera.
Of course it would be totally impractical and probably impossible to do it in GW2; but a dev or community mod mentioned on the forum that it was possible to normalize character size.
only newbie will have a hard time targetting MM asura or spirit rangers from thier AI’s

Oh, hello Mr.Pr0feSSi0@lPl@y3r, your opinion is very important to us! Too bad that others thinks otherwise.
I do believe skill is enough to let you distinguish between actual ability casts and autoattacks. But anything beyond that I just don’t believe. I think it’s more like “oh hey, my random evade dodged that warr’s stun… err I mean I was totally watching for the stun animation all along”.
It’s just confirmation bias. If you always dodge abilities, which is feasible, a lot of the time you’ll dodge something you really wanted to. Then you convince yourself you did it on purpose, ignoring the dozens of times you dodged something you didn’t care about.
There’s an element of self fulfilling prophecy here. I do believe that the current meta is shaped to combat the difficult to read animation and combat.
IE, good players are those that understand you cannot really dodge the important skills except the very very few that are massively telegraphed. And so, having a build that has “more dodges than you need” so that you can use them on cooldown or close is stronger that one that has just enough and tries to use them when it counts.
On another post, Jumper said :
Dodge rolls just don’t feel right to me right now. Even back when watching players like Teldo, when a player hits full endurance he just dodges. Doesn’t matter if its to avoid autoattack damage.
So we got the GW2 PvP meta history of the like :
- full burst
- evade spam
- tanky passive damage that doesn’t care if you dodge (spirit ranger, conditions that proc on crit etc…)
- CC lock burst

I use it myself, but I’m pretty sure it does not skip minions or summons.

You’ll tab target enemy players first, then AI. But first you’ll have to search for the player.
If you miss click or tab too many times, you have to first cancel your target. But thanks to Anet’s genius, we don’t have a button for that, we have to double click somewher hoping nothing will be on the cursour while we do it.

im pretty sure that was the last fix that was broken later again cause problems in pve. so im sure but 100% we are in old tab targeting. so not always enemy player is first selected.
I played Charr thief before, thought I was bad.
Asuras are a shame of design, such inequality it feels like cheating. Only good thing holding them back is that theyre freaking ugly and their visuals are too small to show off.
Some added Facts :
-Movement sills (heartseeker) on uneven terrain are clunkier with charrs. When u land, your charr might turn as much as 180degrees
-Your big character can block vision of a asura infront/melee of you.
-You are easier spotted by enemy team ( sneak for decap, going in for a burst, even aproaching teamfights)
-Your orientation/run direction is harder to estimate
IF ANET DOESNT HAVE THE TIME TO RESIZE ASURAS, THEY SHOULD BAN THEM FROM ORGANIZED TOURNAMENTS. IT WILL ADD A PSYCHOLOGICAL STIGMA TO ASURAS, AND POEPLE WILL AVOID ABUSING THEM.

Ah. Even better.XD
Now I feel no shame in playing simple builds and one button spam my way to GLORY!XD
The worst thing I have encountered are Mesmers named after phantasms, which is horribly difficult to play against when they are asura too.
