How hard is it to make an in-game ladder
they are adding them in their feb patch like it says on their website.
yes, it probably screwed with things… their current setup of pvp is very “fun” and not competitive.. so to turn that into a competitive scene probably took a lot of thought, not to mention pvp is not the only thing they have to work on in their game.

Do we get a ladder for normal matches as well or is it just torny only?
Either way, thank god for that lol.
But really, Ladders are kinda important for pvp to run, if you know what I’m saying.

i don’t know the specifics. i only know as much as they tell us and they don’t tell us very much
but yeah it’s very important to have that. that’s why all the serious pvpers have left this game to do something else already.
I wouldn’t expect a ladder tbh, as they are careful to phrase it like:
" So we are happy to inform you that we have begun testing our ratings and matchmaking system."
Only matchmaking, nothing about an in game ladder. The game may hold the statistics hidden and only use the rating when you enter the matches.
They dont even need a ladder if they would just give us arenas we could have our own 3rd party systems…
This would be a temp fix and probably easy for them to do.
(YES I know private arenas are coming, this is a temp fix)
Let us claim a empty arena, password protect it.
You don’t even have to give us the ability to control it.
And if your worried about glory farming.. remove glory from it if its a private temp server.
And if your feeling generous give us a spectator mode.
People would create their own leagues, broadcast games, practice with teams, run scrims etc etc etc.
At least it would be a start and would be fairly easy to do.
They dont want ladder, because they like the things the way they are now.To be competitive in pvp you need to form a team and go into paids to pvp against established and experienced teams. Ofc you will lose a lot and then you will buy tickets because no one likes to grind them in frees, and what you get from dailies/monthlies is not nearly enough. Ladder means that all pvp players are rated by some common principle ( number of games won, glory acquired or something else) and they dont want to rate players who play spvp and free tourneys because they dont buy tickets Instead of concentrating on earning money by selling cosmetic stuff, pets etc in game shop they decided it would be a good idea to milk pvp players for money. Simple. This is also a reason why they pamper so called pro players so much and raise them on a pedestal, in order to make their business model work, they need them.
A rating system would be an improvement, but If the ticket system stays then spvp is still pay/grind 2 play which has little appeal to new teams who are probably going to lose a lot in the beginning. Its very disheartening to lose hard earned tickets over and over again and it ultimately becomes too expensive to learn how to play at a competitive level.
Its no wonder why the hardcore would-be e-sport heroes who sit in queue all day farming new people have barely any viewers or competition. Beating newer people over and over makes it impossible for them to keep playing because they have a net-loss of tickets so they just leave since farming frees or buying gems over and over is lame.
