Q:
How have i ever killed daredevil?
AOE fields and interrupts, specifically shocking aura or 6/6 nightmare bonus pretty much force a thief to pick another point to +1 or decap.
This constant thief bashing gets boring, you know?
Get to legendary playing thief and we talk again … oh, right, you won’t.

Thief is too op, thief needs to be nerfed etc.
Seriously, the only class worse off than a thief in current high game is a DH.
The thief is at the same time both the most overpowered and the most useless class according to this form. If the thief wins the thief is God, if the thief loses they are trash.

Where in this thread i said they require a nerf?
If Anet aren’t going to nerf thieves, then i found my new main.
My question, though, how other thieves perma-dodge everything and why other thieves don’t view that as broken?

And which part is asking for a nerf?
Simply thief is fine as it is, other classes are not and require a nerf bait. Finally AoE condition spam is out of control.
but they’re a lot stronger
than they will be next year!

Normally I’m against calling out implications because most people don’t have the proper linguistic training to do so, but Ashamir makes a very good call in this particular case:
If Anet aren’t going to nerf thieves,
The above sentence clause begs the question of why which elicits the answer that they should. Quite simply put, it is very implicit in your wording that they should nerf Thieves.

Because all the people who grinded their way into low-tier ruby are now crying that they have to make a coherent playstyle strategy to kill something that was free food before, and are too lazy/too weak minded to even attempt at effectively adapting their playstyles.

I’m assuming this is a troll post. Thiefs are not much of a threat 1v1 vs any class in conquest. They are only a threat if you have a lot of cooldowns or are +1ed and don’t see them coming.

Don’t put words into my mouth. Anet have a history of nerfing random things (Dragon hunter anyone?). And it seems you never took any logic based courses (programming, etc) if you don’t know what “if” sentences mean. It does not imply one outcome, it present at least two outcomes:
1) if yes
2) if no
I never implied any of these two to be true. Or is englisn not your first language?
I think Daredevil is way OP. Why did thieves get so much evade when they already had an almost exclusive hold on Stealth? Evade was a Ranger mechanic. It is not right that there are players much running around PvP almost invincible except to AOE. Even CC isn’t very effective.
I say this as a 2-year ranger who has tried taunting, blocking, and kicking them. They just stealth and stun break, while throwing deadly conditions and evading at the same time. Played against 2 daredevils today in my super healing Cleric build (over 2K power and toughness and almost 1400 healing) and still died to these daredevils in about a minute each. This is nuts.
(edited by Calanthe.3857)
I can easily beat them on a druid build on my main as well as a pew pew build on my ftp account. They are good for back capping and +1 but unless you have a lot of skills on cool down you should not lose to them 1v1, assuming the relative skill level between the two players is somewhat close.

I beat some of them, but there have been too many that I just cannot. I am an experienced PvP player, reached Dragon like a year ago as a Ranger. My tanky build uses automatic regen, signet of the wild for more automatic healing, sigils and runes of water and purity, Cleric amulet, axe/horn/greatsword. Even with the occassional evades and mega healing, and the sword’s block/push, they are creaming me. Using drakes with Taunt—my drake even did a 10K hit on someone today, but I still died to these 2 daredevils in 1v1 in 1-2 minutes. Not all but some don’t even seem that skilled—its their build and it feels very overpowered.
Then again I’ll admit I don’t have HOT, so maybe its because I’m not using Druid? This is the tankiest build I have though and it often is able to hold a point 1v2 for several minutes.

Maybe it is your build. I go for damage. I beat them even faster on my f2p (no hot) with LB/GS and zerker stats. Time your ls5 or your bow 3, or pet howl. Once you get a stun/knockback they are done. I use protect me on that account. Can also trait beast mastery to taunt on pet F2 for even more control although you give up quickness on pet swap. Also if you go LB its channel will still hit them if they try to stealth during it, although most thief’s aren’t running much stealth. I use a bird and the wolf on my f2p account.

If a character is immune 90%(evades) of the time , it doesnt mean that it cannot be killed .

i agree teef op
one time in my life i tri to kill teef but he evadeded all dey and den i dieded from fall damage
gee gee anet
Op is merely claiming it’s easy to spamm dodge all day while doing dmg in the meanwhile,it’s just a kitten mechanic.
I agree with the OP. Thieves spam evade + invisibility too often, even on basic thief build. On my power shiro rev, on which I have a lot of experience and I think I am fairly good, I just stood no chance against a thief in 1v1. 90% of my attacks were evaded or got evaded during the time I started inflicting them. Making the thief losing only a bit of health and hiding in shadow. And in turn, he could inflict deadly damage on me that I could evade only by shiro evade, shield bubble or glint healing skill or staff 3, which was still not good enough to beat him since he can pop a lot of damage almost every time he hits. So for him, it is just waiting until I am on cooldowns. At best, it would be a stalled, never-ending fight. The only thing that can stop him is big burst AOE like scrapper or DH.
The OP has multiple threads calling for Thief nerfs, yet he plays DH which Hardcounters Thief, one of his biggest gripes is unloading 3 times can do 18k damage to him on DH and thinks that’s is too powerful but ignores the fact his traps can do over 20k damage without the DH even being near the point.
Just bought new character slot and made a thief.
After trying it out on my new computer, i can say that AOE is real problem for thieves. That aside, how have i ever killed any of them? I am killing people 1v1, 1v2 and sometimes 1v3, if they lack AOE. Used to be guardian main, but i can’t even compare these two. If Anet aren’t going to nerf thieves, then i found my new main.My question, though, how other thieves perma-dodge everything and why other thieves don’t view that as broken?
Thieves can easily be defeated without ever being killed. Play against a team that sits a druid on home with a condi war rushing far and you’ll see. =P
Not that many thieves play perma evade, simply because they know they’ll get CC’d and burst down, if they’re somewhat good. Perma evade sucks, unless you are playing against total noobs. If you think that perma evade is broken, try playing druid.
Still waiting for that Shield/Shield meta
Gonna call it, OP is playing the only thief build that can 1v3 unless you’re playing against ambers.
cough Condi thief cough

English is not my first language either; that has nothing to do with one’s ability to subconsciously or otherwise imply one thing or another in a second language. Implications are not exclusive to the English language. Also, see below:

Nobody put words in your mouth. However, feel free to see above where you were called out on your passive-aggressive charade. Also, you should actually educate yourself as to the subjects of linguistics and informal logic (as opposed to your mathematical and programming applied logic) before you attempt to argue on such topics. The “if” modifier does not detract from your implication, and your attempted obfuscation by inapplicable basic logic does nothing to salvage any ethos you perceived yourself to have.

Lots of meaningless words. Started playing thief, winning matches never been easier. Anet may neft theives, or may not, but in every game in spvp there is at least 2-3 thieves. When necro was this popular, it got nerfed. That is why i said “if”. But, well, it seems that was too hard for you folks to understand.

1 Necros stack well when they were OP thieves never stack well unless you outplay the opponent, 2 it’s the off season people tend to play more classes when there is no repercussion for losing, and you are playing in Unranked where skill is not the highest in most cases.

Necros were never OP. Anet stated that chill damage did not stack and non-damage-dealing chills were replacing damage dealing ones. That is why deadly chills were nerfed.
And thieves stacks incredibly well. Before season ended, i played in team with 3 p/p thieves. We ravaged enemy team like it was nothing (sapphire 2). People were dropping like flies. Can’t even compare with any class i have ever played.
Where did you pull that i plaid thief in unranked? Out of you kitten? With guardian i was able to reach sapphire 4, the day i started playing thief i reached sapphire 2. No skills or practice was required. If i had started playing it earlier, i would probably be in diamond 5 or 4.
And thieves stacks incredibly well.

Says something is op in Sapphire now we have some context behind your skill level no wonder you think P/P is over powered though…. And the chill damage was stated to not be effective in PvE while it was effective in pvp. And if Necros were never OP why were there 3-4 on most teams Season 2?

2-3 Thieves in enemy team theres nothing more easier then that) and if they all are p\p its even easier) p\p thieves are dangerous only if they came from blind spot and burst u down and if not they are bursted down because of lacking escapes) And yeah some saphire 4 guy is teaching others what is OP XD such thieves are melted in Ruby 1 and all the way after it) even condi thief 3-3-3-3-3….3-3 build is more anoying then p\p thief, ive got probs only with skilled d\p thieves but they were easily beated by my condy rev)

Rawr!
Thief is the second most frustrating class to play against right now, because of the continual stunbreaks and immob clears.
It’s balanced if not actually underpowered, but it basically negates absolutely everything you can throw at it (until you hit a certain point and it dies instantly, but most builds can’t hit that point)
