How could they even remotely think this is okay?

You want people to get hooked to competitive play and then pause the whole thing for a month and force people to play some unranked clowns show?

I am sick of people playing with a preschool mindset and telling me to “chill because its just unranked”. And would you react to this issue that was made prevalent by streamers during the first week? Nope. We have to wait yet again. Wait until again people stopped playing and matchmaking getting worse and worse due to low player counts.

Can any of you pvp devs either:

• step up their game and do a better job or
• gather the courage to tell the higher ups that the resources they adress are not enough?

The whole system is flawed. Fixes happen way too slow. I see no flexibility whatsoever if players give feedback, changes don’t happen before 3 months later. And balance wise a single person has the job to polish 2 or 3 classes including elite specs in all modes at once. Obviously this will go wrong. Even unemployed people that grind this game all day will admit that they never know multiple classes at a high enough level good enough at the same time in pvp/wvw/pve. You need more people and you need to tell the Arenanet leadership that you need more people.

Maybe because they released a patch and people are still adapting to the new patch?? Or maybe because some classes got nerfed and those folks are still adapting to the meta? What would have been unacceptable is to start the league without giving time to those classes (buffed or nerfed) to adjust to the meta.

I’d really like to see a training game mode in off season, something to prepare you really well to the season.

For example arena 2vs2 would be great, people would improve in teamfight situations.

Unranked is basically a waste of time, Anet needs to fix this month break.

I’m not against a month break but like others said, we need something different.

Right after patch, when the balance is suppose to be tested, and you can’t test balance in Unranked, cause the amount of bad players in unranked is extremely high, even with good winrate. How many other actual Esports games do you see disable ranked queues for a whole freaking month??

Yea, didn’t get the month → 4 week thing either. But still, queues should only be closed for a week, 2 at max. No more, or the game population in PvP starts to drop heavily.

That was a typo. I meant 2.

Btw I disagree that an artifical break is even required for normal league. Why? Because it is not like you HAVE to play right after reset. It is perfectly fine to wait 3 weeks or longer before you start ranking up again. And those first few tiers don’t matter that much anyway.

A month is ridiculous. Two weeks would still be a lot. One week would be okay I guess but actually no break at all is needed.

Have you PvP recently? It’s a big total mess with even less viable classes.

Just wait for ArenaNet to come in, screw up combat improvement again, then release the next league

The OP has a few good points having ranked disabled forces you into a game mode you havnt played during the season (your unranked mmr drops during this time) forcing you to play with people who are testing builds just because its unranked or who are pretty new to the game and are just playing unranked as hotjoins are impossible to find for new players, unranked during off season is a joke like ranked was during the previous season (with the last meta balance issue’s exploiters etc.)
I just wish they had ranked enabled offseason idc about divisions (just disable divisions) i just want a game mode were there are no people testing builds 24/7

So what, its obviously a typo, it doesn’t take away from his basic point which is correct.

I prety much quit the game now, there is no stats to accumulate, no leaderboard on the website anymore, and no more league rank ladder. So boring….zzzzzzzzzz Add that to the fact anet sold out with their pay to win hot builds, and its pretty much game over for them.

Really don’t know what the fuss is, in fact I felt ranked was worse because of all the try hards that would afk/rage in chat just for losing after 2 mins of game play, How is that fun/competitive?

That’s why I left this game, I check the forums once in a while and it makes me glad I made the right decision, one of the things that bothers me the most is the management of this game, decisions that don’t make sense with very little communication to what’s going on. A game that wants to be esports needs to maintain the competitive level always no matter what.

I see Helseth is playing Blade and Soul. If anet thinks its acceptable to have leading players streaming other games over this break then they’re idiots, they should be trying to keep players in the game.

I dont know how it is acceptable, but hey if they give you an answer then quickly ask how no WvW tournament for 1.5 years is acceptable as well.

I mean if you get the chance, no rush. Its not like another couple weeks will matter.

Today I felt like testing new builds and I’ve got matched with/against some ESL players. I dont want to be stomped cause running a bad build, but I dont want either to be forced to run a competitive build just cause Anet has coupled both queues, it just kills both competitive and casual play

But… then why did you even join an arena, knowing full well it contain people that might go in to win? Why not custom/hot-join? Thats what its there for. Unranked is just unranked, not a designated casual queue.

Unranked is like a training ground.
I agree that there should be a competative pure solo que mode, that doesn´t try to mix bad/good players and is used for the ladder board. No board for unranked. It´s useless if you have a matchmaking system that tries to force a 50% win rate by mixing good with bad players …

Given that Anet just released/announced a new matchmaking system, We will see if unrank will stay as bad as it is now.
