How much is "Champion Slayer" worth?
It only measures games played, since everyone will eventually win enough for it. ‘X of the arena’ is the only meaningful title, and even that is a little sketchy.
Oh, slayer. That’s even easier.
Champion Slayer is 200 tPvP kills. You can obtain that title within 20-30 games if you average 5-10 kills/game. It will be the first title you gain in tPvP and will be of little worth.
I look at titles in this order:
Champion Slayer
Champion X (150 tPvP wins)
Avenger + (ransacker etc.)
QP titles
Champion slayer is meaningless, anyone can get kills in tPvP. Champion (class name) is a little better a judgement since the person has to have WON 150 tpvp games, but it’s still not that great a measure.
One of my key worries is you’re judging people on a 1v1 basis. Some professions far outshine others in a 1v1 scenario. Phantasm Mesmers were the bee’s knee’s at 1v1 once upon a time (no idea of their standing now) and so you’d be great at dueling, but they brought nothing, or at least very little to a team 5v5 in tPvP. It was (is?) an extremely selfish build.
Myself as another example. When I got my Champion Magus title I was running a full Beserkers Fire and Air traited, scholar runed staff build on my Elly. Would be ripped to shreds like toilet paper vs a machine gun in a 1v1. But I’ll tell you what, when it was Khylo week in Tournies and I was stood on clock tower roof the enemy team would drop like flies.
I run a staff build still for PvP, even though it’s not a popular choice… It works in PvP because it’s a capture the base game type. In a 1v1 only idiots would get hit by my AoE’s.

The only title that’s worth anything is Champion Brawler.
Its worth what you want it to be.
If you expect any title to suddenly mean the person you are facing is inherently an exemplary player you’ll likely to be disappointed.
There won’t really be exceptions to this no matter how the title is given players leave, players rejoin, players can be carried or do the carrying. The circumstances for how someone got a title and whether they are just coming back from a break for instance all just mean the Title is a Title and nothing more.
If I see my Puma running Champion Slayer Im not going to think he got worse.
Yea but if I rock champ Brawler YOU KNOW My life is guildwars2

Not even this title is worth someting. You literally can lame through soloque.
Thank you all for your insightful replies
I usually try to fight “Champion x” opponents because there is a chance that I’ll learn something from those fights. I know that some classes are more suited for dueling than others (I do not expect to die when facing every type of Elementalist, for example), still I have always “respected” those players and have always fought with great focus when challenging them. I know you could be carried all the way to your title, but I hoped that these guys at least knew how to play their class properly.

Nope because I don’t open up the achievement panel.
You mad?
I label the ones using this title as total newbies.
Because they haven’t got champ titles nor too much experience but they try to show off that they do PvP.
Champion X kinda shows you know that class. Not assured to be pro, but you’re still not new with the class.

I like champion slayer because in GW1 good players had the title “champion” so I just find it amusing.
It’s definitely a joke title. It’s by far the first one you get by doing solo queue only. I wear it ironically, because I got it by losing a ton of games.
I wouldn’t necessarily say a person wearing this title is bad (because it’s pretty cool sounding and I think a lot of people wear it based on that alone), but the title itself means zilch. It’s easily gotten in a week of casual play.
Priorities, what to do?
