Just to get this straight, This is just my oppinion and I’m not a gw1 pvp fanboy. I played reasonable amount of gw1 pvp (mostly random arenas, some heroes ascent, tried team arena and hero battles) so I got a bit used to it and as a casual PVPer I really liked it.

So. This is an example of random arena (RA – not the word “RANDOM”) which is kinda equal to solo queue now I guess. The fight start slowly, people stay back, they don’t want to get exposed too much, players are much more careful, skills are not just spammed (now shown in this example because it’s a disabling/shutdown build as far as I understand):

This how gw2 pvp feels like. Everyone cluttered in one space, prepeare with some boons and run in and spam autoattack and rely on signets and so on. Maybe I should’ve used tournament pvp for the example but this particular fight is not far off from what I’ve experienced in solo queue before. Here’s the video:

I don’t know the exact solution but it certainly feels like gw2 pvp is a bit off. I like gw2 pvp but there’s something missing.

So far the best solution I’ve seen mentioned somewhere was to reduce dmg in pvp overall. This way there would be no kills just from spaming auto attack. We gotta be forced to use skills smart not just spam everything on cooldown.

The other thing that comes to mind is that some resource management (like energy) could prevent that. Spaming 1? Yes you can. 5 times, then you’re out of energy. So, you gonna to that or wait for a proper moment?

Well that’s all I can think of. Any other suggestions?

a global increase on health pools could work

balance aside, the pace of combat is too high at the moment.
offensive skills are buffed while defensive ones are not, which leads to a even more uncontrolled damage race
Anything more than 1v1 is going so fast I hardly have any nanosecond to see what my opponent is doing and think. The only reaction I could have is the reflex I have based on hours of playing my character, not something I “come up with”

In GW2, people who stay back and don’t expose themselves too much then choose the correct moment to push a kill win. What you’re seeing is a L2P error. Let your bunker frontline until you can get someone exposed.

Why do you think people complain about AoE so much? It’s because they’re stupid and get AoEd. Against good players, AoE hits 1 target, sometimes 2. Aside from down contests. Hotjoin awarding glory to everyone on the point when it caps has a lot to answer for.

If you’re not playing to win, don’t complain when you lose.

If pvp was like in the first video i would quit. The player barely even moves…what the hell is that crap? It just looks aweful, even in Wow back in the day they move around waaaaay more than that. That looks incredibly dull.

being rooted while casting is a punishment to balance ranged damage vs melee. moving more meant you dealt less damage but were harder to catch. if a game allows too much movement then poor positioning is difficult to punish.

You have shown enough of your ignorance already bro, just…door is that way

OP just seems like a bad warrior, he doesn’t believe Bulls Rush stuns? he takes mobile strikes any movement skill breaks immobilize. Sounds like he doesn’t know his class too well.

Hope you don’t mind me expanding on this.

Berserker Stance removes all conditions and stops them being applied to you for 10 seconds…possibly 12 if you trait stances.
Signet of Stamina removes all conditions.
Restorative Strength – Removes chilled, immobilize and weakness on heal.
Mobile strikes – Any movement skill removes immobilize.

Berserker Stance removes ZERO conditions. It is preventative only. You cannot pop it after the conditions are already on you to make them fall off.

Should learn your class then it reduces duration by 100% that means they are removed.

“i think it’s an underserved nerf. now we have to slot a stun breaker??”
“berserker stance clears all CC on you and you’re still immune to CC for 8 seconds”

When I tried Neverwinter I kinda disliked the rooted thingy while attacking or casting but, I’m kinda missing it more and more because because there’s so hard to really punish someone for bad positioning in gw2 in my oppinion.

In my oppinion AOE damage should be increased but given a pulse effect, like damage over time if you stay in it. This way people would learn where to stand and where not. Now the staff ele for example is just sad in pvp. Or maybe we should get more pbAOE skills that require you to actually stay in combat to deal damage.
