So apologies in advance for not diving deep into the MMR calculation code but with all these threads on MMR Hell and how losing 3 or 4 games in a row could doom you to MMR Hell i have a question.

How quickly does the system change your MMR to the point that you are consigned to MMR Hell after a very short losing streak?

I mean players have hundreds and even thousands of ranked matches. A few losses shouldn’t change your MMR unless there is a significant weighting attached to recent games vs zero or very low weighting attached to older matches.

I haven’t played that much ranked this season due to work commitments and other Real Life stuff but my last 10 ranked matches have been 8 wins 2 losses.

Thanks

if player mmr is similar to team mmr then it’s easy to gain if you’re low and easy to lose if you’re high.

No idea but one thing is for sure. If this new system really does put same MMR players together vs whatever, then the higher MMR players should be the ones in higher divisions and the lower MMR players be in the lower divisions.

Yet, we consistently see players in diamond and legendary who have no damage or offensive pressure yet still manage to die non-stop, have no awareness and or no team orientation/play, and no idea how to rotate. So either they got carried up by better players of SIMILAR MMR, which means their MMR is broken, or either MMR or the algorithm is so broken that it can’t distinguish between different ratings.

I get matched with - as in, on the same team - with players you know are very good from having encountered them before, and players you know are good because they have put on a good display in competitive tournaments. Yet, at the same time, I get matched with people who, if their character wasn’t moving on the map, I would genuinely assume were brain-dead. Does the system see me, these competitive tournament-going players, and the beyond-bad players we all know and love, to be at the same level? ANet?

Nobody know.

But, i think it’s quite fast.

Why?

Leaderboard 2013-2014 show RANK from 1 (top) to 1000 than giving % for the rest.

I did PUG a lot with mid tier players at that time and over a “week” we could be in the 95% to the top 300.

Losing versus low rank, was removing hundreds of RANK in 1 go. So, possibly, MMR related the same as the old RANKING system.

BUT, before… you had the chance to come back and grind your MMR, because your opponent had a MMR similar of yours. Now… not anymore.

So, more you go deeply in the lower MMR thing… more it’s harder to go out.

The only way out, is finding people with good enough MMR that want to QUEUE with you…. so your other random would be good enough to carry the matches versus the lower MMR team. (pay them GOLD, it doesn’t matter, this LEague is not Skill based even if the high MMR make all trash talk on forum to make sure they don’t change that false grind based system to a real skill based one… this mean, that if you can buy your MMR, you could wins way more game than lose even if you are an average player)

Higher your new friends are, easier it will get. It’s why you see Java, Helselth, Leeto or any other high MMR player saying MMR Hell don’t exist. Their MMR is so high, the Match Making system find them high mmr soloq guy. (new account included because new account got a higher mmr than average to give you incentive to buy new HoT box… another Buy to Win scheme from Anet).

Season 1 was harder for high mmr to compete than mid tier players. Many Legendary players got there before their big EGO top players.

Season 2 is all about easy win for the top 20% MMR players.

What Season 3 will reserved us? Long queue time, no matter the system is. The Veteran Hardcore Average players are already on other games right now.

Actually rdjudicator and I know, check the legendary queue time thread page 3 and 4. If you are new, you MMR can change by 200 or 320 point max, of you are a vet your between the 20 – 30 range.
