Ive noticed that there are more condi thiefs in pvp and tournaments. I can’t beat them as warriors because of their endless evades and condi’s…. Its so broken…..

Any advice?

Practise against the super saiyan version in WvW (duel in OS) and by the time you aren’t being roflstomped you’ll be able to deal with its massively nerfed PvP version.

it´s hard if you don´t concentrate on the fight …. Strong against it are abilites that hurt/CC him when he strikes you. A tipp as power warrior: use surging rune.

As a power rev I leave them to someone else, there is basically no chance for me to win/survive that 1v1 unless they are braindead. Just remember some 1v1’s are going to be weighted against you and you should rotate to avoid situations that your build isn’t suited for. Condi thief is definitely one of those cases for many builds as they can basically one shot builds without substantial cleansing by equipping spider venom and pressing steal which has no counter other than cleanse or random dodge.

Grab the condi thief build and goto the test golems (Heavy, Med, Light). Steal to them then dodge away from them. DO NO EXTRA DAMAGE BEYOND THAT.

Come back to this thread and post your results on the % of life left on each golem after all condi’s finish tic’n.

In terms of effectiveness though the PvP ranks, Condi teef can potentially be countered by a single DH, mid fight pressure with heavy aoe such as symbolic DH. Most Condi thief would stick to sides and would try to avoid the guard unless he’s not equally skilled.

Burn DH’s biggest concerns are good power thieves who know how to cc and burst. This can be problematic for burn Guards to 1v1 because we won’t last very long unless we’re able to burst the thief ahead of time with a ready available cd. Aside from that, we perform 3x better in team fights and debatably better on side points.

Both classes are at the mercy of matchmaking but in terms of “carrying” a team by 1v2ing or 1v3ing classes, burn DH comes out on top. (my opinion).

You shouldn’t be losing to thieves on guardian period. Guardian hard counters thief and has since the release of the game. There has never been a longer or harder counter in this game than Guard vs Thief

Did the test, steal + spider venom does 90% to light golem so ~15.5k damage and potentially more with confusion procs. Steal+spider venom+1 dodge easily killed the heavy golem from full. I was using dead-shot amulet, so not complete glass. Cleansing is definitely required to handle that much pressure.

Did the test, steal + spider venom does 90% to light golem so ~15.5k damage and potentially more with confusion procs. Steal+spider venom+1 dodge easily killed the heavy golem from full. I was using dead-shot amulet, so not complete glass. Cleansing is definitely required to handle that much pressure.

Use Carrion you will kill the light w/out spider venom.

Basi Venom + Spider > Steal > Dodge will kill the warrior NPC without having to do any extra damage

To be clear, I’m not defending condi-thieves, but those examples of golem damage are dumb. You can do far more with a burst build in the same amount of time.

are you struggling with the constant d/d condi thief or are you running into the shortbow condi field into d/d thief?

Either way, if you cant snag some hits in the beserker stance, then run once you pop the healing signet.

If you want to counter run longbow with cleaning ire and simply run the signet for a elite skill and a mace/shield so you have blocks. With this build they should not be able to down you since you can remove the condi on F1 as long as Anet didnt nerf that.

Side note, Anet the endure the pain change really really really ………………………… really…………………………………

That’s pretty much what I’ve been hearing as well. Just wanted to get more info into the matter.

Condi teef, on equal skill (or skill less…however you prefer to put it) should beat a burn DH. Condi teef removed condis on evade, which means entering or exiting the ring while evading cleanses the DH’s only condi, whereas the teef can apply multiple stacks/conditions while the DH typically doesnt move much.

I highly recommend carrying Dogged March and Melandru runes to negate their condition duration. Also, of course, resistance. There are times you won’t have access to resistance, that’s why I recommend those two things.

The way you have to play around it depends on which condi build you’re fighting.

1) D/D Evade: With this it’s all about timing cc onto their weak frames of dodged and getting out quick bursts of damage. Constant attacking will screw you over if they run acro so be very meticulous about when you use a skill. Berserker stance and healing sig will be super effective as the build normally carries little to no boon removal and ci will give you additional cleanse access when you need it.

2) SB poison burst: This build is particularly nasty if you don’t have resistance available or a massive cleanse. It can 1 shot you by doing steal, dodge, sb4 and you will also be dazed from the heavy poison. Generally that setup runs carrion to maximize usage from mug and pulm to hybridize the build. Try to dodge the burst (Likely preceded by an activation of basi venom) and punish hard as the set carries few defenses outside of high hp and mobility. They don’t have a particularly high sustain damage so once you evade the burst and 1 or 2 follow up attempts for damage you can hit them freely or force them off point for at least the next 20 seconds. As with the d/d evade build you want to time cc carefully around their defenses and then burst only when you see the opening. This build also possesses little to no boon removal so resistance will be your best friend here as well. Against this it’s easier to land a burst skill mid combat but it’s harder to force the thief into a sustained combat scenario.

Hope this helped a bit. The biggest part of the fight is identifying which build it is so you can take appropriate action. If you’d like I can post each of the builds so you can examine them for weaknesses.

the rotation is: all slot rage skills to stack much burn as u can → headbut/fill adrenalin → berseker mode → longbow burns, → swap to sword/torch → use torch skills, →sword #1 to stack bleed on him. … hes dead even before u finish thins rotation.

its impossible have so much condi cleanse. Every rage skill proc 1 burn stack and its aoe, theres 3 slot, plus butthead, plus when activate bersker mode. this rotate is effective even against condi necro cuz burn is the highest damage condition, so the burn kill necro before bleed kill u, burn kill thiev even much faster than necro. … thievs have low hp and defense, 4 burn stack is enough to make them run in panic mode.

if thiev stay jumping like monkey, the sigil is regen u.

the worst scenario is P/P thiev hitting u, when u fight another person, so this case is 2×1 scenario. if u fast enough to change target to thiev, u can still scape.

Its not they can stack 4 burns on you , and you can remove it from evading in the next attack , if tey keep pressuring you all the time
Even Driven Fortitude + Signet of Malice + Assassin’s Reward +Regeneration doesnt negate 100% of 10 burns

Increase all vigor for all classes plzzz or give them cleanse on evad …. dont nerf again theifs ..
