How to climb ladder as full solo player
I am glad ladder is back, but I think Anet shouldn´t reset ratings.. it just cause mix of experienced and new players. To answer your question there is no way to solo carry whole clueless team mainly in gold division and bellow. You can try duo with someone from top 50 aswell but its not guaranteed otherwise you should wait couple of months till the system settle down.
U complain on everything anyway if ur not one of the best or whatever. So why even try to take ur posts any serious still?
So after i played my placement matches and other matches full solo i got in gold 3 after that i getting nowhere. Stuck in gold with players that die in seconds as fast or faster than necromancer and losing games. Thats my experience so far.

Why even try to take you serious after making a nerf necro damage thread. You want the damage nerfed when almost every class that people play still have better damage burst/condi burst damage with 100% damage avoidance and mobility.

As many people already said, SoloQ is just stupid when you lose and win the same as DuoQueuers when facing eachother (full soloQ team vs a team with one or two DuoQ’ers)
If Anet won’t separate full soloQ’rs from DuoQ’rs, at least make it that when in a team of soloq facing a team with duoQ, you win more or lose less points.

Thats weird im actually doing more damage in the games i suck. Ooh wait thats because i dont coordinate/ time my kills so the fight keeps dragging on.
I could be a kitten and say “hue hue, but i did so much damage it cant be my fault that we lost”. Or i could finish ppl off faster, get less damage but win instead.

I do down people but since im often outnumbered after my teammates die/respawn i cant get a stomp or enough damage to get the kill because they get rezed. im not new to spvp or spvplike games so i k ow what im sayin, i get bad eles on my team for ex that cant survive a 1vs1…. not gonna explain anymore because people that are LUCKIER with solo queues will just keep thinking they r right.

Try to play for example ele, scrapper or druid if you see all of your team are squishy players. Scrapper can stealth downed allies + double rez same goes for druid. Elementalist has best heal support ever so you can keep them alive.
Otherwise you just have to talk before the match start if they could change to something tanky. Or you have to play something tanky for your own.

I ll record record all my matches for those who try to defend the system.. as I said I like they gave us ladder back… but since HoT you can get new players in your team even you have like 10k+ games.. if some of you have better than worse games it doesn´t mean others do aswell, it´s pretty same as gambling in this game. I know there is too much qq and some players just don´t deserve to climb the ladder but still there are players who play this game since beta and now they are stuck in w/l rating hell just because of the “mmr” reset

The reason is maybe you farmed your way in duo q while i doing full solo q. So dont compare my solo q to your duo q thanks. I don’t care much about ratings till we get fair system where everyone full solo q or 1v1 rankeds then you can show how high are you on ladders without any support.

Just remember from all the know it all’s is IT IS YOUR FAULT.
I’ve run in to this exact same problem, though I also know it is too early in the season to really gauge my skill when we haven’t seen the full number of potential competitors. The patch came in early in the week when some players are still working, or taking advantage of some of the festival activities.
I consider myself to be a medium skill player though on good days some of my opponents tell me I am better than I think and on bad days, my own team shuns me on map chat for being the worst. So i may start in Gold but find I am actually Bronze after a day or two.
There is something extremely weird about the matches though. 2 out of 3 matches seem even where the win or loss is by 50 or less points. But the third or fourth match will be an utter landslide like one match was 500 to 30. It happens so regularly that I believe it’s a part of the system – some top tier team is being pitted against people way below their level which doesn’t reflect skill at all. The top tier players are surprise! Still bored! and the lower tier people have to struggle 3 times as hard just to resume where they were a match ago.
I agree with the sentiment solo and duo should be separate. I find people in a duo are coordinating with each other but not talking to the rest of the team. However in order to truly separate Solo and Duo, Duo teams would have to be only as large as 4, or increased to 6. Anet is not going to do that.
Finally, you may be the largest contributor of damage – but a good player needs to be more than that for the team. You need to be able to stomp and support and capture points too. Your goal should be to do as much as these things as possible in any given match.
With all that said I am finding this season to be really painful and not fun compared to last. Also the reward system is just so strange. What am I being rewarded for? Just participating? What am I working towards? Crossing the rank threshold doesn’t offer any more or less reward than I am already getting. The prestige of a higher rank is nice, but it’s passive/silent. Last year rewards were tied to your tier and helped add incentive to working hard. This year – it literally doesn’t matter.
I don’t understand that, and I wonder if…it is maybe attracting some people to play it JUST for the loot reward.
Serious answer for OP:
Necro is (In my opinion) really not a good solo queue class. Necro is the definition of a class that needs team support to thrive, and you simply cannot rely on a solo queue team to provide that. If necro is the only class you can play at an acceptable level, then i’d recommend finding a druid or ele player to duo queue with.
Personally, I did my placement matches on necro and got put in mid gold, however since then i’ve found that solo queueing on mesmer gives me much more control over the outcome of the match.
Im not sure what happend, but after a bad losing streak playing in group with weak players like 10 games or something like that. i get better players in my team now and i win all games.

Oh that’s good to hear. I am hoping for that. I am really getting better at supporting allies on Druid, for sure. But there really is an odd mix of players in Gold. Some are really, really new. It’s kind of depressing at times, to be honest. I’d say 1 in 5 games are nail biting awesome. The other 4 are slaughter-fests.
I even started playing Mesmer more. That class does really well with/against newer players.

Full blowouts is irrelevant.
I just lost 120 points by loosing 3 matches in a row – 475 vs 500, 475 vs 500 (yes literally same), kitten vs 500.

I also think its a gold problem. As i have said before i get players for like 10 matches that totally bad at pvp, cant kill anything die fast on 100% damage avoidance high mobility classes after that i get people that somewhat decent and can win with them.
Necro success ( “your rating” ) is really up to who plays more with better players as its not your rating it’s the team rating you play with. So all your rating says is you played more games with better teams as any necro good in good team and any necro free kill useless in bad team as he is not able to do his job with bad team while also vulnerable to focus. You use duo q with good player and matchmaking also gets you pugs with better players that have chance to win game then you will have high rating. If i put you in group with same players i had that bad lose streak you also stuck there where i am you are in group with players that don’t ever help necros, die fast, dont do any damage, don’t killing focus target that 2k hp already, never switching targets in fight etc.
Duo Q with good players + luck on getting players in most of your games that are not noobs = High rating
Everyone that not duo q with good players and not lucky on getting somewhat decent players that knows how to pvp will have way lower rating.

Hello im John. I played 20 games just now and ALL the bad players where in my team. Can you believe it? Is it the system or am i just unlucky? This is why i whent 0-20 and now im at 500 rating. How can i ever get up like this?
I mean i did EVERYTHING right! All pro ESL plays and even solod 3 guys at one point but to no avail. My teammates are just uncarryable and at 500 rating u see plenty of pro players on the opposing team for some reason. Just never in my team.
Btw did i mention that I played perfect? I have really good rotations, know how to burst, when to ress, rarely die and im always top healing damage and kills.
This system must be all about luck right? Im just unlucky that im stuck at 500 right? Or is it because im solo player? ye that must be it. If i duoqueue i probably will go from 500 to 2500 over night.
I lost because I had 2 Deer ranked players on my team who were learning the game and didn’t want to learn in Unranked because rewards were better in Ranked. They were free kills everytime they left the spawn. I had them on my team in following match too. Same result.
I can dominate play all I want. I win 1v2 and even 1v3. But I can’t hold two capture points at the same time.
I’ve got 16k matches played and I’m struggling to get out of bronze because I can’t get any rating separation from players like these.

I have no problem dual queuers. There’s very little advantage there if any.
I have a distinct problem with not being able to separate my rating from players at the bottom because I’m only rated on the team’s outcome.

Too bad it’s still very farming and luck based and have nothing to do with players true skill level.
Ranked 1v1 and ranked full solo q would be a lot more accurate about players true skill level than the current system.
Ranked 1v1 to rate the player how is able to handle 1v1 situations against your own class and vs other classes and ranked full solo q for rate the player for his teamplay skills. That 2 together = a lot more accurate to get some info about your true skill rating.

My tip:
Play a build that conters dragonhunters and don´t die instantly on thief or a necro bomb. I play more offensive ele and eat DH´s. 2-3 on oposing time is quite normal and the in just smule and run between them withm my team moping up after me ….
Learn to kill DH´s fast and you are golden at the moment.
