How to keep people from stacking onto a point
Why do people expect to be taken seriously when they speak nothing but hyperbole?
Because literally almost every other game ever, especially most “triple A” titles, that have node capture game modes teach players that stacking on the capture point decreases the time it takes to capture it.
That, and Guild Wars 2 has no tutorial or any sort of explanatory device in game that ever tells players to the contrary.
I mean, we still have players who believe that channeled skills are showing you “per hit” damage instead of a running total, and things like this are supposedly less complicated?
I totally get the frustration, but it would be a much different issue if there was a game mechanic that explained these things to new players, instead of just throwing them into the mix and making them figure everything out on their own.

This.
This very same game won the MMO of the year for the second time.
But still nothing like tutorials.
All is vain.
wouldnt work. rule cant distinguish when you stood idle and when you were team-fighting on it.
Yah, I remember when I first get into pvp a year ago, I thought that stacking on point made us capture it faster. After a few games, I then thought my client was bugged, until my friend whispered me and told me that didn’t make it faster.
Already quit PvP. Just log in here and there to troll.

it did? i knew it. GW2 is the sh**. i love gw2.
Sometimes I’m capping a point and someone else comes and stands next to me.
I’ve found a foolproof solution to this problem however.

Great solution. I do that as well. But, your teammate is wasting time approaching that node because clearly he can see on the map that you are capping it and no enemies are there to contest it.
People just do it to get the 10 points from contesting it and/or 10 points from capturing it. Makes them look better on the score board. They could be used somewhere else but in hot join just chop it up to a noob. If its happening in tournies then they need to be told.

Wait, really? I actually didn’t know that.

Great solution except when the one coming to the same node will follow you instead of loading the node… then i angrily turn back, and s/he stops, wondering why did i turn back…
If that happens a short line in team chat usually solves the problem, at least for me.

If you are on far, he might think you’ll soon need help, maybe because 3 enemies just died at mid.
Oh, wait, I’m sorry, the skilled decision if someone is taking empty far should be to spam in team chat “Y U ON FAR NOOOB!” And leaving the match. That’s what good players do.XD
because he doesn’t know it himself
If you cap a point and someone was already there capping it before you got there you should get -1000000000 rank points and -10000000 glory and all your PvP achievements should be nullified and restarted.
Seriously, how long has the game been out? Why the kitten are people still stacking onto a single point in order to cap it.
Because anet reverted reward system, now you have to get scores to get any decent rank points/glory again.

Happened to me last night. And then the match ended and I requeued and we ended up in the same group.. and the guy apologized to me after I explained why I was hitting far (we won that game).
In the second game we lost.. mainly because their team kept decapping our home point. I love irony.

You don’t even have to look to other games.. every other capture mechanic in GW2 works the “classic” way where more players in the circle makes it cap faster. Players get used to it in WvW and assume sPvP works the same way

Double capping exists because Anet rewards this. Proof following:
a) After a well played match you might win. This gives you RANK-points. They mean nothing though.
b) After ANY match WON or LOST you get to keep your SCORE-points. They count to your PvP achievement title like “Ransacker, Marauder…”.
I am only interested in rewards in b). I hope deeply that Anet fixes this ASAP because tbh playing b) makes me feel like **** but I am after my title and thats how it goes.
