How to kill shoutbow as d/d ele on point?
I typically start out doing the optimal might stacking rotation (fire earth water) and then once my health starts to drop (you’ll be at/near full health for maybe 2 whole rotations because of cooldowns) and I need a bit more healing I switch to prioritizing water attunement. So during the next rotation you’ll likely go fire water earth and then start fully prioritizing water. Honestly past this point it’s more like freestyling your rotation.
Starting out dealing a lot of pressure to the shoutbow is actually very important. If you do not they can use every single cooldown for offensive purposes and it’ll be too much pressure for you to deal with.
What prioritizing water looks like after doing the might stacking rotation:
1. Fire water earth
2. Air water fire
3. earth water air
4. repeat

killing them as a d/d ele is most of the time not possible (speaking of top shoutbows), what you can do is keep the point or keep it at least neutralized.
what you want to do is blocking the combustive shot with ring of earth as much as you can, if possible also the arcing arrow when they cast it right after. if you can afford to dodge the pin down then do it, if not keep your cleansing fire.
you generally want to dodge the geomancy/doom swap and good shoutbows generally try to make use of it as much as possible so count to 5 when they swapped to sword to know when the longbow swap is availlable. they will try to come close to you so that can be a sign.
applying damage is not so easy because your conditions are more or less useless and burning speed won’t really make a difference. you can try and pressure them when they’re on longbow after they used combustive, applying burning after that is also better.
cc is good to interrupt their rotation, for example when you need to regain health or when your ring of earth is still on cooldown.
try not to tank all the sword autos and the fire aura.
first step would be to survive against them, killing can come after and even then it’s very hard or not possible.
the key to winning would be outpressuring them and blocking their stuff so that they can’t outpressure you.

So count to 5, then dodge when they’re in range of you?

Is it better just to run around and not hit them while they have fire aura up, to deny might stacks and burns? And by avoiding sword autos, won’t that also screw up your own dps?
It is commonly agreed that good shoutbot > good dd ele. its normal that u lose.

counting to 5 only really works against players that really try to get everything out of the rotation, against average ones it’s a sign that they try to get close to you similar like engis with overcharged shot.
when they have fire aura up try to use hard hitting skills to trigger the aura less, you can escape the sword autos by using burning speed through them and by using immob and chill at the right time (after the warhorn is good for chill, after warhorn and leap the immob). you need to figure out yourself when you can afford to pressure them and when you need to be on the defensive.
a rotation on war would look about this way:
lb 2 – combustive – auto/pindown (blind when needed) – arcing arrow and switch to sword while arcing is in the air to get the intel proc.
warhorn 4 – leap – final thrust for the last intel proc – auto attacks and warhorn 4 when needed – close to you weaponswap

Don’t get hit by something with permanent swiftness and a firefield that covers the whole point?

burst and cc thier butts immeadatly, I stack might and immeadatly pop the fiery greatsword or summon. I also have the glyph that has a 25 percent condition per hit. I just start bursting them down., no need for a prolonged fight, Infact I advise you not t do so. thier bleed ticks are very long and they will force you use your cond cleanses early in battle. Honestly those builds are the very few builds I actually use powerfull elites on such as supply crate etc.

Counting is not really reliable imo because of all the variables that occur during combat. (e.g., warrior may not choose to weapon swap every 5 seconds, may not have fast hands, may not have doom, etc) Its pretty easy to just see the weapon swap and then know that you may be hit with a sigil proc on his next attack. Doom shows up as a buff on the enemy so if you can learn to identify what it looks like, you’ll be able to tell when you will want to dodge/avoid his next attack.
Or try and make a mental note of the weapon that the warrior is using as soon as you notice Poison on you. Next time he switches to that weapon again, you’ll know that you’ll need to avoid his next weapon attack without needing to look for the Doom buff.

you wont kill a shoutbow as dd ele unless he’s terrible, the fight will go on until someone shows up and make the fight 2v1, he wont manage to kill you as well
Don’t worry boys, Blade and Soul is coming.
