How to play on the keyboard?
Its called mmo gaming mouse but they make it look like it isnt >.>
Wow… so I have to pay $60 for a special mouse just to be able to compete. That is so stupid. If the interface wasn’t so horribly programmed, this wouldn’t be such a big deal.
No you can compete with others who don’t have gaming mouses.
I’ve got 5 buttons on my mouse brah…well Technically more but w/e
If you move around keys, you’ll find something more in your range. I believe some are changing A and D to strafing and putting extra skills on Q and E for quicker access having their mouse focus on the camera.
I thought this was about console controllers
You don’t need a gaming mouse to be competitive. But yeah, the default keybind is horrifyingly awful for the tons of skills and utilities you need to press. That is a fact.
Just find the right keybind setting for your left hand. I personally would suggest moving the movement keys to WERD instead of WASD. And then work around your utility skills around those keys for easy access. Weapon skills I set to the default 1-5 keys.
later. It doesn’t care that I’m there.”

This works wonderfully for me:
Camera: hold right mousebutton
Movement: WASD (A&D bound to strafe)
Utility: QER
Heal: C
Elite: Z
Dodge: V
Weaponswap&F1: Mouse 4 & 5
Call target: Scrollwheel button
Would redo my binds a bit if I’d need to use F1 to F4, but so far up to F3 hasn’t bothered me that much to rebind it (I play bunkerguard sometimes). I mostly play professions with only F1 needed (warr, necro, thief).
my set up goes like this: I have a razer naga mouse which helps alot and a blackwidow keyboard. Utilities: Q E R F / SHIFT+E for elite / F1-4 are on my mouse including mark someone and target marked player. You can keep W pressed to move forward while with the left mouse button you pan that camera.

Hello guys. I recently started pvping with my ele and what a nightmare. No I dont suck, I been the top player a few times. Problem is when I have to 1v1 some one. Crappy interface problems aside, I’ve been watching videos of people pvping with an ele and some how they are able to use skills with hot keys, move the character, AND move the camera all at the same time without changing any hotkeys. How the hell do they do this? Do they have 3 hands or what? Any advice appreciated, thanks.
You can change keybinds in the settings interface. You can use shift, ctrl, and alt + any letter/number key. So no, you shouldn’t need a mouse to bind all of your keys, I was able to play WoW arenas pretty competitively before I ever got a good mouse. But in pretty much any game, most players are willing to shell out around $100 for a decent gaming mouse (Razer mouses mostly); the utility and comparability you gain outweighs the price, even most casuals have a razer mouse these days lol.
Shift and/or ctrl modifiers. I use Shift+1-4 for Profession 1-4. Makes it easy to change attunement and cast something quickly, instead of jumping up to F1-F4 and back down. As others have mentioned rebinding 6-0 is also essential.
This allows your left hand to always stay in the same area. Instead of having to play Bach up and down the keyboard, you play more chords (two keys at once).
You do NOT need an MMO mouse to play GW2. However a mouse with 2 side buttons helps.
My keybinds are Q for heal, ERF for skills 789, Caps Lock for Elite, Tab for weapon swap and “`” for interaction. A few more changes that I probably missed, but those are the ones most relevant to me.

invest in a Razer Naga makes a big difference.
As others have said, you can just use alt/shift modifiers and triple your hotkeys within reach so you never have to move your hand. The one thing some people use “gaming mice” for is macros which do give an edge in some cases.

I use a gaming mouse to make use of my mouse wheel in this game (Gw2 does not let me remap my mouse wheel), I have mouse wheel back as my heal and mouse wheel forward as my roll, and man O man does it help big time.
