The title says it all.

I’m trying to use my tempest abilities in PVP but can’t unlock anything. Anyone have any idea how to unlock my elite spec? Does it occur at a certain level?

Any help is appreciated.

You need HoT.
Also, you can put the Elite Specializzation traitline of Tempest (or any other elite spec) ONLY in the THIRD Trait Slot. if you try to active it in the forst two you can’t.
Put it on and you’ll unlock every skills and weapons of the elite spec

You have to select Tempest (or whatever else elite you’re trying) on your specializations. It won’t be available in the first or second one, only the third.

Read better my post and try to look at the Trait line on the Bottom of the screen (the third one), you’ll find your Tempest Elite Specializzation Traitline there.

Then, if you’re a newbye, I can remember you that to make your own build in sPvP you have to look on the top of your screen and click on the Helm Icon to opne the Build Pannel, where you can find every rune, sigil and amulet you can use (even some that you can buy).

It might be worth mentioning that you have to be in the pvp lobby for the pvp traitline to appear on the top portion of your screen. You can enter the pvp lobby by clicking on the crossing swords icon on the uper left of your screen then there will be a button that says to enter pvp lobby. You go there then you will be able to equip the elite specs and weapons.

So a friend of my was in a similar situation, turns out she was doing the exact same thing u are doing (I know for a fact that this is true)
So here’s an easy Step-By-Step guide to explain how to do this.
Step 1 – Ensure you have HoT (you’ve said you do, so I believe you and you can skip this step)
Step 2 – Ensure that you are in the PvP Lobby (Heart of the Mists)
Step 3 – Ensure you are selecting the THIRD (BOTTOM, 3rd, OPPOSITE of top, VERY LAST one when starting at the top headed towards the bottom)
incase you don’t understand and I have failed to make it 100% clear of what bottom means I’ve included a helpful picture.
(and buddy has already specified the same, so I’m certain you’ve checked this right?…RIGHT????)

Step 4 – If step 3 fails contact customer support
Step 5 – If customer support tells you the same thing that we did… well… all i can say is … really?
