Just because you can turn invisible doesn’t mean you’re no longer there.
And for a refuge state, you sure spend a lot of time there offensively.

I dunno…I think it’s quite reasonable for some pets to track stealthed targets. I mean, some animals have a great sense of smell right? Just because you’re invisible doesn’t mean you’ve lost your scent.

When I’m on my mesmer and thief, it feels like I am always getting hit by chains in stealth. Not only is hitting people in stealth unrealistic, IT IS AN ANNOYING BUG AND I’M NOT THE ONLY ONE COMPLAINING! Especially for mesmers and thieves, this bug is annoying. We have no armor and when we are still hit in our refuge state (stealth) it ticks us off. GW2 needs to fix this bug. Chains do enough damage already. Stealthing during a chain should INTERRUPT them.

Every channeling move will continue to hit through stealth if they cast it before you go into stealth…definitely annoying.

Yeah, channeled skills hitting in stealth is annoying. But you can still dodge while stealthed, remember. Just gotta deal with it for now.
For those that don’t know. (I doubt there are many.) If an enemy starts channeling a skill while you’re visible, then you stealth, the channeled skill will still hit you.
As for a stealth nerf that’s coming. I use it on my mes for what it was intended. It’s intended to be an oh crap button. It’s for emergencies.. I tend to only carry decoy anyway so I shouldn’t even notice, myself.

You are not invulnerable when you go stealth, you are only invisible. You can dodge roll attacks when you are stealth, you should figure it out.

Well, it is a bug. It’s a bug you can deal with, but there’s no way a channeled skill should hit you while you’re stealthed. Stealth breaks targeting for a reason.
And ease up on the thief/mesmer hate. It’s off topic and nothing but flame bait.

After a while, you get used to it.
It may sound ridicolous, but having the Iduelist to hit you after stealth is not even that bad.
kitten is when that kitten wolf pet hits you with Brutal charge, deals 5 k damage to you, you’re knocked for 2 secs and when stealth ends, you’re still there lying on the field.
Just in time to get spammed with traps.
This if the ranger has not already seen the wolf charging up into nowhere, and already spammed his traps before you reveal.
Sadly community hate toward the thief is too blinding to understand ( and let aNet understand) how gamebreaking this issue is for thieves.
Even more, they’re going to nerf both stealth and damage in the upcoming patch, basically killing the only half decent thief build ( unless someone here still believes thieves are top tier in tPvP).
I just hope for HUGE compensations.

7k? really… I would love to see these numbers… Any time I use it its like 4-5k max… any time I die to “illusionary unload” same thing… 7k sounds like a huge exaggeration. And thieves can spam the same skill with the same or higher numbers2-3 times in a row.
I main a Thief, and I’m fine with taking damage in stealth. However, I agree that channeling skills should stop channeling onto a stealthed player, considering that the target for that skill should be lost.
Channeled skills should continue forward in a straight path instead of tracking a stealthed player. If you don’t at least move sideways, there’s no reason you shouldn’t get hit like with any other damaging skills, but I agree that they shouldn’t continue to follow you.

A duelist can drop me to 7k, by itself. If you cannot hit 7k that’s your own issue to deal with. Being dropped to 7 by itself isn’t a big deal, I’m glass cannon, comes with the territory. Of course being a passive set-n-forget skill that hits for that much is significantly more irksome. Note ranger pets can also hit those numbers (if they want them to) but have a melee focus and the complications that nature inherently posseses. Naturally isn’t no issue if I abuse the hell out of Inf strike to break LoS, but since it and other channeled attacks in general 1) Don’t end on stealth 2) have shot animations longer than an actual dodge roll and 3) will even auto correct themself if you rapidly change direction through mobility (shadowsteps/leaps). The real action is kill it or get the hell out of range. This is again, relatively legitimate being glass cannon, a random CB sneeze will blow it apart assuming a lack of Soi or a fortunate critical.
Otherwise it itself is more irksome than anything a Mesmer does given the chance to exist. Disregarding the bleeding it can also apply or that it is currently bugged so that all of it’s shots are 100% combo finisher’s when traited (or perhaps it is intentional) and can put up 8 stacks of confusion through Chaos Storm, on top of it’s bleed while hitting that 7k if given a chance to fully prob. Naturally I’ll assume the Mesmer himself is braindead and does nothing himself so that dodging the duelist and he himself is the sole threat. Lol wot. Outside of that fighting Mesmer’s is quite fun, and I’d almost feel bad for abusing the hell out of LoS to break their AI and obstruct their attacks, and phantasm bullets.
Of course if you think I’m embellishing reality for some reason no one but yourself can imagine. This is easily dealt with. If you think the damage is fine itself, that’s a view I’d allow you to have, but if you’re questioning my honesty, my friend, you can be promptly silenced.

Traits Empowered illusions, Phantasmal Fury, and Phantasmal Strength… If this is the case then the person either A. doesn’t have deceptive evasion OR, Doesn’t have illusionary persona… So there is your weakness in this build… And maybe another reason they do that much damage is mmm are you a GC? If so there you go. Damage not only scales off the attackers power but off of the victims armor/toughness.
And currently the combo finisher is a bug… (I hope) I can agree with you there that is very OP… But once again that Mesmer would have to have VERY SPECIFIC traits to deal out that damage with the duelist… And as you said with the duelist not hitting for 7k and that’s my issue… I return with if a duelist is dropping you to half your health.. that is also your own issue.

The only thing I read in this thread that makes sense is that channeled abilities should be cancelled upon someone entering stealth. The same should go for casting targeted abilities.
Makes no sense when you are in Shadow Refuge and, you are still getting hit by Rapid Fire and it ends up doing like 6.5k damage.

The only way they could do this is if stealth became targeted at specific players and worked like interrupts… Which would kitten everyone but thieves off. (Mesmers… we don’t care we get screwed with enough as is.)

Also noticed you do sword on your thief… If you do sword pistol Please gimme pointers :P I am trying to make a thief build that never ever uses stealth.. Its ummm painful.. But I wanna make it happen.

I can’t believe a thread like this was actually made and i’m not sure if were all being trolled or not. That said ill take a bite.
It’s player’s like the OP who give decent thieves a bad name. Too many thief players see Stealth as some all-encompassing escape and as a result don’t pay attention to the field, go rambo mode and expect that stealth will save them. If you didn’t notice say Kill Shot being charged at you and stealth then that’s your fault for not being aware of the field. Thieves already have pretty high mobility and movement so if you aern’t able to get away from that in stealth then something is going wrong.

OMG the OP made my day. Stealth is one of the more if not the most ridiculous mechanic in GW2. Please go on your knee and pray that the dev´s do not make stealth here like in other games where:
- Beeing hit in stealth knocks you out of it
- You can´t stealth while in combat
- You have to be aware where you stealth because you might be spotted
Stealth in GW2 is really such a f…..cking easy mode fire and forget mechanic that you should be thankful for it every single day.
