People are complaining left and right to help your game become better and attract more players to pvp. Making a game used to be a team effort. I would ask the balance teem to re-look at their pvp because the last poll done had over a 70% dissatisfaction rate. Players are not trying to make fun of the developers at this point they are begging for changes. I don’t know why I keep trying, maybe because I love this game… But please stop treating this game like politics. Give players the changes needed to make pvp great it will make your game more money and make the player base happy along with spread the success of a well built game.
It took a big change to break the game’s state of pvp it will take a big change to fix it.
The rules must not keep changing. Similar to how there’s pro basketball, and how successful LoL / Starcraft have become, the rules stay the same and don’t change much (well at least not TOO much to the degree players need to relearn the sport). Unfortunately, as long as AN continue to adopt the absurd “shake up the meta” approach in balancing, while simultaneously changing multiple aspects of game mechanics over the span of 3+ years, GW2 will never be ready for “E-Sports”. The reason being is because it takes time for players to become masters of their art. If the rules keep changing, it breaks the momentum for “pro league” players and ruins everything “E-sport” (god I hate that word. I also hate “baseline”, “meta”, “QoL”, and the other nonsense lip service AN tends to spew out)
@ Daishi, accessibility wise, AN has taken strides to improve this but it’s still at an unacceptable level. (that is, all they did was make it F2P). There is actually quite a large paywall in place- HOT specializations. Without them, you can kiss any chance you have in competitive PvP in GW2. That’s not my definition of accessibility.
GW2 is also a terrible game to spectate. Try asking someone who’s never seen GW2 before to sit down and watch a match. It’s like watching monkeys flinging poo everywhere. No way to anticipate player actions, a kitten load of passive gameplay in the form of conditions, boons, traits etc, and it’s a pain in the kitten to watch a whole match as the camera only focuses on one player. Too much is happening on the screen, yet not enough information is given to the viewer in spectator mode. This problem is exemplified by the terrible announcers that don’t even give play-by-play breakdowns of the “professional” players. Like I said- its just monkeys flinging poo at each other.
Going beyond this- the matches are not intense from the teams perspective. No commands. No communication, or play-by-play requests (like requesting a water field, etc). There is a lot of potential to be had in zerg v zerg fights, yet AN continues to ignore the potential. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nF1UzimGnvs
Even then though, it’s still an unrefined mess that’s difficult to follow for a spectator. (note to AN: This is not a suggestion to molest WvW fights.)

Really, it just boils down to dropping the negative marketing “gw2 esports” is garnering. It’s a failed venture, and AN jumped on that boat before it was ready. Stop funding “E-Sports” and reallocate the budget to getting the game ready for such a thing, because the game at its current state is not ready.
I don’t play LoL but they almost certainly balance frequently. The problem with A-net is they don’t nerf hard enough most of the time and they are the kings of power creep.
This is coming from a player who has watched the majority of his friends guild mates and others stop logging into GW2. Infact, none of my friends that I see in real life play this game. They have moved to black desert for pve or other games for pvp.
Listen I know the forum is biased but people in game are matching these stats based on what they say about the game balance wise. The game has discontent in its own community which is bad enough rep as a game to have when attracting a player base.
I ask hard core RPG gamers if they heard of Guildwars 2 and they respond by saying “isn’t that another spin off of wow with less engaging pve and pvp?” I am not badmouthing the game. It is the way non GW1 loyalists have come into this game unless it is over glorified by players like me. And yes I tell my friends to try this game out which is another good reason why I have been begging Anet not to disappoint the community.
Lucky Leaf, Ángël, Clergyman, Side Kick -Lets make Gw2 a better game
If you don’t play LoL for like 2 months and come back after a big patch, there’s 2 new champions you don’t know about and jungle has changed, there’s new items and randomly an ap carry is played as marksman, you haven’t really had a break on MOBAs haven’t you?
