I don't get it
I agree with you, but I’ve seen a similar thread (don’t have the link). There was dev response basically saying yes, they had feedback that new players had choice overload, and they wanted to slim down choices; also that gem choice made only a small % difference in build.
Yup, I’ve been playing more pvp now, and I really think you guys screwed the pooch on this.
It seems that in PvE / WvW, I can come up with any build I want and make my equipment compensate for the changes in stats. There are so many variables with foods, jewel inserts, wearing different rings over trinkets over ammys, I can really tweek things the way I want.
PvP wasn’t like this. It was really hard to hit stat points I wanted while going for a build I wanted. Sometimes, it just wasn’t possible so, I just learned to play differently to compensate.
Now? Forget it. I just, flat out, can’t run some builds because I can’t get the equipment to compensate for the stat changes. It seems that you pick your ammy first and see just how bad your remaining stats are and try to come up with a build that isn’t so bad.
You guys did some brilliant things with the quest pathing, and consolidating skins. Please bring this diversity back.
Really? Hardly anyone else shares my view on the matter?
I think WvW and ascended gear should also be made more accessible in this way. After all, sPvP was adjusted to attract those players that are already playing other things first-hand, so why not make things more accessible for us sPvP-ers on the other end?

People might share your view if they knew what this thread was about from the title. The few people who do click on it are only doing so because they’re wondering if you’re going to complain about the thing they want to complain about.
we dun get a say in this as they forced this change down our throats.
actually, before the patch, i asked my PvE / WvW guild members around and they said the lack of stats distribution freedom in sPvP is one of the major turn off for them.
It’s almost impossible to make a power build that can deal acceptable damage and doesn’t blow up when targeted.
Hambow warriors are managing to do enough damage with a Soldier’s amulet and stacked damage increases (Mericless Hammer, Destruction of the Empowered, 10% Toughness -> Power). Celestial d/d ele with Sigil of Battle and Strength runes are also doing okay with all their might and fury. But that’s about it.
Instead of a single amulet selection, allow us to select an amulet (50% of current stats) and two rings (25% of current stats each). Keep the existing combos. That’s no more comlicated than having to realize there’s now a “PvP Build” button where you set your stats, runes, and sigils and that you need to equip PvE weapons to get the weapon type.
Until that can be coded and tested, make two new amulets: One that’s half Berserker and half Knight and another that’s half Berserker and half Celestial.
