I fear for this games future
I am scared that anet will actually listen to the majority of people on the forums complaining about one thing or another. What about the other hundreds and hundreds of players that do not come to the forum to complain? I’ve said this before, but satisfied players don’t usually come to the forums…so sadly you don’t see as many of them, and instead see only complaints basically.
the game is mostly pvp.
and because of certain bugs, its pretty broken until they get fixed.
im talking about the issues with pathing and teleporting skills.
and more importantly about the WvW problems with loading players or depicting incorrect distances between players.
(not player-side issues)
i fear all the people demanding gw2 change to be wow2 might get their way.
Most of these “I really hope ANet doesn’t listen to the whiners” threads are just thinly veiled “don’t nerf me, bro” posts.
I have a feeling they’re paying attention to what’s actually going on in game and not just listening to the “whiners” on the forums (i.e., players providing valid feedback).
You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to realize that there may be an issue when 75% of every sPvP match is either a Mesmer or a Thief with the occasional Short Bow + Zephyr Ranger tossed in there.
If you want the game to have a future, you’d better hope ANet DOES listen to the majority. I can understand not wanting the game dumbed down – I wouldn’t want that either. At the same time, when a large number of your users are not having fun or have big problems with the way the game is working, you will eventually lose them.
It’s easy to brush the posts off as a “forum minority,” but experience shows that its really not. In other games with this kind of complaining on the forums, I and others did the same thing and figured there was nothing to worry about because it was only a select group who were overrepresented on the forums because, as we’d say, “all the masses who like the game are off actually playing it, so we don’t see them on the forums as much.” When game populations started dropping, we realized that it wasn’t just some small forum crowd.
I really see a huge core of goodness in the game, which is why I play it. The PvE experience is essentially second to none, and its keeping me playing – and this is coming from a guy who isn’t a big fan of PvE in MMOs. If that core can be brought out and the much culled off from PvP, it will be great. Right now, there’s a reason a lot of folks are unhappy and it does need to get some attention sooner rather than later.

That’s wierd, in tourments all classes have their place
Anet will get concrete, useful information from data mining stats first, then compare that with what’s being reported by players like any competent company would. I think your fear for the game’s future based solely on player opinions is without warrant.

Hence my specific reference to sPvP.
tPvP is vastly different from sPvP and WvWvW.
