I hate the pvp in this game...
Interestingly “the map i.s. setup such” spelled without the .’s was replaced with kittens by the filter….

I was browsing the forum here (I hadn’t read any of it before I posted). I didn’t realize so many other people felt like the Mesmer, thief + downed mechanics were “kittentastic” as well. If they didn’t break your target it wouldn’t be as bad.
That said, if any random person (like myself) can play pvp for awhile and independently come to the same conclusions as the more experienced players on this forum then there’s probably some pretty glaring problems to be fixed.
I’ve pretty much done everything in PvE (which I quite enjoyed actually, the fractals addition I think was great) I’ll probably give the game a break(again) and check back in a few months assuming something else hasn’t made me not care (like starbound).

well this is a PvE game so you might wanna stick with PvE if you want to have fun while playing :P
-rank 41 guardian-
-Desolation EU-
I feel like the pvp system is just kind of immature and the game was released with the understanding that pvp was “beta” and now we are all waiting for improvements/refinements. I think the downed state is kind of cool, at first I hated it – it adds a new dimension to the game play that is unique (from my experience). I would agree that downed state suffers from some balance issues but not that bad. I agree with you that the combat system is interesting – I like it a lot – and I feel like if we are patient we will see pvp get a lot better over time. I just hope they manage to staff up their pvp team a bit more so that we can see more frequent updates. So far their mentality for updating, especially around profession balancing, has been measured as opposed to wow where they would swing the nerf/buff bats wildly creating and destroying fotm builds in a single patch. I like anets approach a lot better – the only problem with it is that usually with small tweaks you get them more often – so far that has not really been the case.

I believe it is mainly the noobs that complain about thief and mesmer downstate, so other random people like yourself.

But these are the people we need to play spvp/tpvp to get a community thats big enough, to get exciting matches on all skill levels.
I just outright find the controlling circles business to be an extremely boring thing to base a pvp match on.
There should be ONE map that has you doing this. Then the others have their own thing.

Congratulations on both attempting to be insulting and failing to comprehend the post.
I’m complaining about a general mechanic that is just simply not fun (likely at any skill level). I don’t think I said anything about them being imbalanced (on that subject I have no opinion).

I agree, I just want interesting fights. Give me a mostly flat surface where a team of 3v3 can all see each other and just have a good fight. If I want to get overrun by 6 people at a time I’ll play WvW.
Wvw isnt endless zerging. There are also many effective ways to crush zergs with a small group of players.

But it sure rewards zergs. Like the new rank system they’re putting in. World experience is equal regardless of how many people tag a dude.
One guy runs into your zerg. 10 people tag. That guy just gave everyone the same XP.
Solo a group of 3 and you get the same reward.
They’ll be tons of high ranked zerglets.
