I just want to play ranked
This is the 3rd bad implementation of a League-System. Because of this League-System we get long que-times for bad matches. So get rid of Leagues and give us the skill based leaderboard back.
I was in q for 20 minutes before i cancelled (T7 diamond) just now, it’s pretty much unplayable rip.
Unranked is a joke too, I don’t wanna deal with skyhammer and even worse matchmaking.
You did kind of race ahead to a high tier early in the season when most people are ruby or below.
Race ahead? All I did was play the game. I started the season in Amber. (Didn’t play last season, hence the low placement.)
My goal wasn’t to hit legend, that was expected to happen at some point. I just wanted to play the game and win.
And my reward for playing and winning? LOL 1hour+ q times
Its a joke. I shouldn’t have to limit my playing to avoid q times. The game should compensate for it.
As it stands I can’t even work towards my daily ranked PvP achievements because the q times are so outrageous.

So good players are only allowed to play a few weeks per season?
The thing is I was legend around this time last season and it wasn’t this bad. I’ve already cut down on PvP a fair amount and done some AB farm, TD meta, gathering runs etc instead of PvP :/. I played 5 matches yesterday and like 10 today, hardly no lifing the thing.
Then there’s those guys who only have like 60 games with long win streaks and are already in legend, can you blame them at all? They barely played !
Of course i have no pity for those premade groups that stomp solos all the way up to legend, they deserve this but they’re a minority lol

I’ve seen a few others say this and was curious how that works (didn’t start playing until after it went away)
This is my third ranked season, and while I’m farther along than I was the previous two seasons, I just can’t help but wonder how much I’ve improved.
I find it hard to quantify since both my wins and losses seem to be by landslides (for the most part) and I think I can reasonably count the number of close matches I’ve had on one hand.
Would going back to the old system solve that?
Would going back to the old system solve that?
I think it would be a big improvement.
The Leaderboard was MMR based, so the best player where on top. (It had a few flaws but they could be fixed.) Now the league is point based so players which play much are on top.
The Matchmaking where MMR-based so you play with and against players of your skill. Now the matchmaking is mainly league based so even if there are players of your skill, you don’t play with or against them if they are not near your league.
Anet’s game is unplayable and apparently they don’t mind. No message from them at all. For me it’s like a PROD issue ! so critical in term of priority and they think it’s ok to wait for a next patch.
People log in try to q and then leave the game atm…they wait all their players move to OW i guess.
Because the system looks for people on your MMR first and pip range second.
Do you think match making would be quicker and more fair if they didn’t use mmr at all, but instead just matched you with players in the same rank/tier range. In theory it all would come down to which team did better. Downside would be getting constantly paired with and against the same people.

I started the season in sapphire, and maybe played 6-7 games a day. In about a week and a half I got legend, and since then I’ll be lucky to get a que pop in a day. Ques usually take an hour or two, and although I appreciate the more league-based matchmaking, it’s a double edged sword. MMR hell still exists too-out of the 60 or some games I can only recall being fond of maybe 2 or 3 of them where my team hasn’t been able to steamroll, resulting in a near 100% winrate when I played thief (my main) and a near 75% winrate when I just fooled around on other classses.
In short, I just don’t really know what arenanet can do about this with the current season intervals. It’s obvious there isn’t a player base sufficient for this system to be implemented as people in legend tier often can’t get good games (or games at all) in the off season and the first month or so ranked season. I would suggest maybe decreasing the length of the offseason, extending current seasons, and allowing players to fall to lower leagues.

I agree with this second paragraph. If the league system is going to stay as-is then it needs to expand its tier search every 5-10minutes. Would help so so much with queue times.
There are not enough players that progress quickly into higher divisions I guess. Last season you could get to legendary division even as average player. Now for many (solo) players this is not possible anymore because of the 50% winrate. I would take myself as a sample. I have played 150 matches this season with exactly 50% winrate. I have reached ruby tier 4 and thats it. I think more than 95% of all players are average or bellow. So I guess you have to wait a bit more until more average players progress further ;-).

So based on this logic, I’m supposed to wait another 2 weeks for more players to grind their way up?
In what way is that fair or reasonable to me or other legend players? We have to suffer so others dont get salty when they see a legend in their game?
I understand that there can be a massive skill difference between an actual legend and say a ruby. But that doesn’t mean I should have endless queue times.

I wouldn’t mind to see legend players even in ruby matches. The search algorithm just seems to have a limit in how far (divisions/tiers/pips) it can find players in a reasonable time. For sure this should be addressed somehow. But if only a few players have such long queue times it might not get any priority to solve.
Skyhammer is one of the best maps in the game now.
Nifhel is the worst map.
you can t,pvp/wvw/pve players/streamers leaving since game becomes more garbage with every update.
I think the games becoming better with every update.
@ OP if it makes you feel any better I haven’t been able to play gw2 pvp for over an hour now because I’m with teammates that that can be 2vs1’d by every player on the enemy team. It doesn’t get better at lower brackets, you just have the illusion of being able to play.

I play from Australia so the pads rubberband me hardcore that’s why I hate the map. It’s the same reason I hate those stupid mushrooms in PvE that spin me and sometimes don’t launch me up.

It would be quicker but the outcome of the matches would be pure RNG. Leagues doesn’t represent skill, since it is easier to gain pips then to lose them. Everyone who plays much can get in high leagues. So in a system which doesn’t use MMR it is pure luck which team gets the better players and most games would end in a blowout.
A much better system would be to use only MMR and to get rid of Leagues.
Why doesn’t matchmaking expand my league bracket to match me with Diamonds or Rubys after set intervals in time?
At least if the game matched me with lower division players there would be effort instead of the faceroll snooze fest unranked is.Curious to see what anybody else thinks.
The reason is that the league system is a quasi non-zero sum game for the participants where they earn pips as a kind of currency. The pips are traded back and forth and created in 3 ways.
1. At the start of the season, by placement
2. When a player gets on a three game win streak
3. When a player breaks a tree game loose streak
The problem with the people at the top of this economy is that they effectively remove pips from the economy. They are kind of like billionaire bankers feeding off the poor, taking every last dime (pip) out of the economy. If the system started to match them against Diamonds and Rubies, they could completely wipe out those leagues. The only way to get out of sapphire, would be to beat the legendary bankers, er, gamers.
It would look like an old lady trying to keep her house when Donald Trump wants to take it!

I can only imagine what season 4 is going to look like. I got my wings and stopped queueing the frustration level is just too high. I can’t say it felt like I really achieved anything, more like something that I had to endure.

And what is the point of steam rolling lower skill players, and how is this fun or engaging or challenging, for either the wining or the losing team?
Uneven and unfair matches is one of the reasons this game’s PvP player base ended up being so small.
What you are asking for is that players should play unfavourable matches where they will most certainly lose,so that you can get your pop.
I understand it sucks to wait for so long to play a match, but what you are suggesting will result in even less players playing, and even longer queues.
lose a pip,win 2 pips,lose a pip,lose a pip…………..-
-Go go Espartz.-
My solution to long queue times would be that if people would be able to queue for pvp while in WvW/PvE, the queue times wouldnt be that long because more people queueing when it isnt so tedious to stand around PvP lobby.
I know it might bring some issues like airheads having wrong weaponsets or people not accepting the queue, but those would be mostly issue of lower divisions where this stuff happens anyways
