How can you kill something which is already dead?

If they dont’ save this game next patch it’s already buried.

Players are just looking for ANYWHERE to go, it’s not so much that X game is GW2 killer, just X game is going to be taking GW2 refugees!

Hell I’ve even been back to playing BF4 which is a game I tired of long time ago.

Boobs n Soul boasts competitive pvp, but I’m not sure there’s any mmo on the market right now so vastly superior to gw2 that it would just steal their whole playerbase.

We did this with Archeage. wait for the playerbase usurping to actually happen rather than predict it, they may launch terribly, who knows?

the only ones left are those casual players who spent real money on stupid skins so anet is happy with that , they never gave a single kitten about the players who anet doesnt get money from (rip english?) , also there are the ones who are happy with their new builds in pvp

ESO is now buy to play, tried that game and is awesome , so i guess alot of people will join , and blade and soul will come soon

B&S has mass pvp too. I don’t know anything about that because 1vs1 was too amazing for me to try mass pvp.

I dont believe anyone thinks it’s going to “ruin gw2.” However, I am one of the people who will be moving to it. My reasons being.

-Competitive 1v1 (don’t have to rely on 4 other people)
-Frequent balance
-An established esports presence in other counties.
-Active combat. (ie passives aren’t running wild like gw2)
-Condis (dots) are not a massive source of damage

and my #1 reason..
-No more Arena Net!

I’ve said this a while back, and I’ll say it again.
BnS is made by the people over ArenaNet, NCSoft.

If you think ANet is incompetent, then surely you’d think their managing entity is also incompetent. Else they would’ve forced some changes around here by now, right?

This is what I don’t understand with the ANet bashers.

And “Oh it’s established in Korea”.

You overestimate Korean MMOs.

In ten years of playing MMOs I’ve never found a Korean MMO worth sticking to. It always ends up in flames, one way or another. Not to mention that BnS is even older than GW2, with the only shining point of it being the combat. It’s pretty mediocre in every other aspect by today’s standards.

“It’s already enstablished in Korea” is actually a point against it. Korean standards are very different from western ones, and pretty much every single major MMO in Korea flopped in the west so far.

It has to start somewhere. It has to start sometime.
What better place than here? What better time than now?

Aion was a good game. It lasted 3 years then a year falling down. Dunno what is your point… maybe you thought all mmo’s are like WoW and last for eternity.

Point aside, GW2 is not gonna get killed by any games. Anet is doing it themselves.

As for NCsoft. I like their mmos. I’ve played Aion from 2008 to about 2012. GW2 from 2012 to 2016. 4 years average seems nice to me.

Big Competitors are Trion… which did not do good as of lately (Rift had a decent payment model, yet Trion tried to once again go for a different payment model with Archeage, which resulted in a faillure as we know).

My point is, publisher doesn’t equal developer. When you look at the publisher, you look at it in order to know if the company is wealthy enough and how they operate (payment model of their games). As for NCSoft West, they clearly took the path of B2P or F2P with an optional subscription along with a gem store without pay to win content. Which satisfy me. To me the payment model is great since I can buy the costumes I love and I feel like I have more of a choice when spending my money. Instead of spending my money to simply play the game.

You look at the Developer team when it comes to balance. Team Bloodlust has been doing a great job on balance as it is and NcSoft West only need to port that over to the West. On the other hand, Anet is killing GW2 themselves.

I only started looking at other games to play after HoT release… I even installed back the Elder Scroll Skyrim and modded it while I wait for the next game.

Disgusted because this is not the game I felt love in with… In the recent patches there was basically only two changes what satisfied me Stackable Luck and more Currencies in the Wallet…

They try to destroy their own game… They try to make their loyal players hate the game…
It’s the feeling when you sneeze and somebody who hates you says “Bless you!” but with an aggressive tone….

You know that he responded… It sounded nicely… But in your guts you feel it was an offence wrapped in gold…

I don’t know what ANET is doing… GW2 is by far the best MMO I’d ever played but…

Why?

Did all the wow kids join GW2 now? You guys start to sound exactly the same as what ive read on the wow forums when GW2 or fill in any other random new MMO came out.

Back on topic….

BnS is great in terms on combat. Imo better than anything we have on the MMO market right now (havent played BDO yet tho). Its basicly a mix of old school fighting games and an MMO.

The PvE world itself is a bit meh. Aion BNS Tera feel all quite similar in terms of world design, questing hell even the minimap + that map overlay is designed in same way.

There are games considered as giants and esports in the East that both you or me have never heard of. Because it’s considered as success for their audience doesn’t mean it will have nearly the same success in the West. I’d even say that the customers on both markets have such different expectations from games that while game is considered a fail and stupid for one market it will be great for the other one. Especially when it comes to MMOs.

Are you guys kidding me? Is this the wow forum now or what? MMOs are typically broad and a mix of good + sucky elements. So saying game a is better than b makes u sound like such a kitten. A couple of the things i liked/didnt like about BnS.

BnS combat is far superior if compared to GW2. Its deep and skillbased across the board. Its basicly a combo of old school fighting games like super smash bros, soul calibur etc mixed with an MMO.

There is no way you can pick up a class/build and be succesfull within a few hours like in GW2. So i guess its a bit less casual which is a bit of a pro and con at the same time, depending on what type of player you are i guess.

The PvE zones are the typical boring korean MMO drab, quite comparable to Tera, Aion and such. So the biggest challenge will be leveling up.

Ya, GW2 would NEVER do that.

Oh, wait…

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/play-for-free-today

LOL your statement hardly make any point when Wildstar relaunches itself without any significant changes to gameplay and contents while GW2 went F2P and Anet simply sell HoT expansion and attracts F2P players that like the core game to buy it.

You have 0 understanding of game design if you think they couldn’t make it a good game because the art team was too focused on T&A.

Oooh so BnS has good design? Tell me a fresh design of the gameplay that BnS has over Guild Wars 2 which make it a good game, since you seems to call yourself a person that understand game design.

1. Doesn’t change the fact that GW2 went F2P to try and draw in more players in the same way.

2. Design is about game mechanics and how well it plays, not how it looks or what characters are wearing. No one cares if you’re offended by boobs. That has nothing to do with how well the game plays. Sorry that you can’t seem to tell the difference between art style and game play.

1. Even when GW2 changes to F2P, it hardly prove any points that your game affect anything to GW2. Both TESO and Wildstar only managed to holdout their P2P model for barely a year or a bitty bit. Beside, all you said was those games went F2P, wooh, that’s it.

2. Your statement hardly answer my question of fresh gameplays beside boobs to attract players. My first Korean MMORPG was MU Online and Ragnarok Online till now and they have better PvP gameplay than that.

i am korean but i don’t think bns would win gw2 becuz all korean mmo lacks in “depth” as a game, they don’t even allow many weapon variations for a class and etc. But you will see bns is more balanced than this game since it is very easy for them to balance things out due to those build limitation which results in lack of depth.

2. Reaching level cap takes about 3-7 days tops, depening how much you play. While doing it, you’ll automatically get your gear you need, which you can upgrade yourself by playing and put drops into the wep.

I always meant to play BnS when it released, so that hasn’t changed. But I’m still skeptical. I can only assume “drops into the wep” is PvE only thing, and if “drop” is some sort of gem/upgrade slot, I can also only assume that as you put more in, your chance of failure increases, and failure once removes all “drops” from a weap. Or something equally time-wastey.

I could be wrong. I’ll be trying the game regardless. But it won’t be killing GW2.

I’m not sure they will introduce the pvp balance mode (no gear) when it’s released, if they dont … well, you need to grind very much for your gear to be able to compete.

There’s the full story. I don’t know why they wouldn’t release a PvP Balance Mode. But if they don’t, it’ll probably be yet another disappointing gear-chase game that could have been fun.

So how much of a pay-to-win RNG-crafting grind-fest is BnS going to be? 1v1 competition goes out the window when you introduce gear as an important factor in fights.

1. its not p2w
2. gear does NOT matter in PvP, only your level does (because you need your skill points to put in tree, so its suggested to be lv45, which is cap for now)
3. it has very awesome 1v1/3v3 arenas

What are all the benefits from the NCStore/Premium membership tiers? And how long does it take to get to level cap?

1. All the benefits are a bit much to explain but in big lines: less meditation duration (which is same as GW2 selfrez when downed), less cd on big teleport, less cd on sprint (you cant sprint in pvp once in combat so no p2w), more character slots, …

You are wrong indeed.
Basically what you’ll be putting into your Main Weapon are other weapons you dropped from mobs etc. By doing so your Weapon will slowly level up. Success rate is always 100%; it just goes slower the higher the level is. Every 5th level you’ll need a specific item to go through 10th level. Starting at the 10th level you’ll need another specific weapon (which are easily obtainable from dungeons/vendors) to upgrade your weapon into another weapon (only every 10 levels). And it goes on like that..

And yes, its a PvE only thing as stats in PvP does not matter, like GW2. Only your level does for your skilltree points.

However, if you’re not yet lv 45, you won’t be paired vs lv45 either

You’re wrong. In the official EU/NA release you dont need any gear but level 45 to have full adventage of PvP.

I know so because I played all the alpha’s and CBT’s.
And I also played the Russian client for a while, which has the problem you stated, or atleast it did.

You’re talking about Russian/Chinese Client, which is totally different on that matter.
Also, pvp is always ping-dependant, no matter the game.

B&S will have EU servers (in Hamburg, same as GW2) and NA (Texas/Boston, same as GW2)

Also 3v3 arena is quite competitive with a team and TS, which brings alot of coordination.

Thanks for all the info, I looked at some articles about the game as well and really hope that the design is as you say/it seems. I’m looking forward to exploring a new game, and my disappointment in TERA still lingers.

I’m pretty sure BnS will end up like dragon nest…It’ll be still popular in eastern asia but it’ll flop in NA after a while. DN had amazing combat and the game still screwed up hard :S

I truly don’t care if it’s “better” or “worst” than GW2… as far as I’m concerned I have been a loyal player for a good two-three years… yet I’ve never had so little fun in a game as I currently have.
When I stop having fun, I go elsewhere, that’s that. B&S currently got my attention after FFXIV and after a brief comeback to GW2 for league system (and I certainly will try season 2), but for now, I need a break from the horrible game Anet is currently giving us and I need the breath of fresh air B&S can give me.
Will it be good? I don’t know… it probably won’t be better, but at that point, it’s not even what’s taking me away from GW2
Anet managed that on its own, it truly didn’t need the help of any other game to achieve that.

So was Aion. Anyone here playing that?
How about Maplestory?

Should I go on, or are we about done?

Are we?
If you read on glassdoor forums any of the developers that left ArenaNet the majority of the cons for working in company have to do with kittened senior management of Anet. Oh and also, Anet and NcSoft have split (or are in the process of splitting).

So when a company on its own starts making that poor decisions, then clearly people are gonna bash them and rightfully so

@Vieux P @Cynz

Lets break it down.

Guild Wars 2
– PvP requires absolutely no investment from the player.
– There is no way to gain a stat advantage over other players.

Blade and Soul
– Requires player investment to PvP (grinding to max level to PvP).
– PvP is secondary. Their English website advertises dueling and that’s it. It is news to me they even have organized PvP much less the much vaunted “solo que.”

Black Desert
– Requires player investment to PvP (both level and gear grind).
– Forced PvP and stealing from other players.
– Steeper death penalties then having to run back to where you died.

A lot of people will leave this game and enjoy those games… None of them are on here talking about how they are going to leave though. The people who are saying they will leave are the same people who whine about every perceived imbalance in the game and are up in arms every time Arena.net introduces something that players have to work for. What are they going to do when they run into their first animation canceler? Whine to daddy that the game is unfair like they do with every class but Thief / Warrior in this game?

You white knight’s are foolish, Do you know why they removed solo queue? it’s simple the queue times for there league player’s where to long. And why where they so long? Because both ESO and wildstar pulled player’s away. This is going to happen again with 3 new upcoming games. (bns / BD / CU) which means your queue times are going to increase yet again.

If you honestly believe pvp is the “fasters growing mode” you are not counting one important aspect. They killed WvW. this is where the majority of the new pvp players you see are from. they won’t last long in this mode because it’s based on AI over player interaction.

Again. No one is saying this game is going to die. we are saying expect longer ques.

- I wouldnt call 3 days playing “grinding to max level”, because yes, that’s all it takes to be lv45.
- If its news to you they have organized PvP then you did not do any research. BnS has been in the esports scene in Korea, China and Japan since 2013. I cannot believe if you even searched, it wouldn’t be found.

BnS excists out of 1v1 and 3v3 arenas, you can queue Solo or as a party through Team Queue’ing. The game also has leagues; Bronze Star, Silver Star and Golden (not sure if there’s any higher since highest on EU/NA Alpha/CBT’s was Gold Star.

Dueling is done outside PvP, in PvE. Here’s where “best gear” wins.
Same with Faction Wars, which is done in an Area found in PvE but its kind of the same as WvW.

Also, rank in the game is based per character, not account.
So basically BnS is even more organised than GW2.

If you want to see organised PvP right now, one of the best BnS PvP’ers is streaming right now: http://www.twitch.tv/lsjjws3

Yes, the same people who complain about Gunflame and can’t contest a point with a Dragon Hunter on it will totally do well in a competitive 1v1 bracket.

I am not saying Blade and Soul PvP won’t be or isn’t good… I’m saying all these whiners who can’t hack it here certainly can’t hack it in Blade and Soul or Black Desert by virtue of the kinds of games they are.
