I'm #1 on leaderboard. Something ain't right.
ye give top leaderboard people cash so they can nolife even harder. ESPORTS
but srly. i guess rerolling to the old leaderboard with the new pvp system would be nice. The main problem with the old leaderboard was the decay system. but if we play with leagues —> monthly reset of leaderboard, it may be fine. or at least 10 times better than the current one

Just speculating here, but it may be because the system is not applying things that occurred since its new implementation.

“Half the people on the front page are in the 50%’s.”
Doesn’t this just mean the matcher does a good job of giving a match where you have a only a 50/50 chance of winning? As designed?

then people like lux who do mostly soloqs still have 70% wins so clearly theyre carrying a little harder
you should take a screenshot and post here so we know who you are
Why do you downgrade yourself?
This leaderboard is nothing but good.
It gives the community to see real players, that perform good.
If you can solo que and have such a great win loss percentage that’s better than some premades stomping solo que’s, premades avoiding other good players to manipulate the leaderboard.
This guy and Thee Faux are really good players, I haven’t seen neither of them in any ESL or WTS, and I’ve faced some of those so called ‘best engineers’, but when I face Thee Faux I’m more scared to go against him, than those so called ‘best engineers’.
Because that guy seriously carries and you have to be really good to seriously carry.
Drunknpossum whenever I face him, people on my team always think he’s in a full premade. If people think your in a premade and your solo que, that means your hella good.
So stop downgrading yourself, just because nobody wanted you on there team and you don’t compete in ESL or WTS doesn’t mean your worse than those that do compete in them.
i think new leader board is good.
sure, a player can play lots and lots of games, but if he / she does not win or even help their team to score at least 400 points when losing, then they will not climb up in the leader board at all.

Bingo, Laserbolt.6731 hit the nail on the head!!! The 50% are most likely soloque peeps and more likely above avg skilz players, the new system basically exposes the diamonds in the rough. Great way to form a team or to recruit them. Just like all other games that require team play, it can be hard for some people to join a good team or to get notice. Think of the Fifty%ers on the front pages as top college football players looking to go pro. Focusing just on win/loss ratio alone is overrated and old school.

I almost died of laughter when I read your post. First of all Solo queue is FAR different then fighting as a team, this is a team based game and NEVER should have implemented any system that is “solo” unless it is designed specifically for solo play.
That being said, the leaderboard should be team names, not individuals with some point or mmr value, so Anyone could see who the top teams are.
When it comes to this leaderboard, twitty is 100% right because, while it is Fun to roll the dice over and over and hope that your individual class and skill can carry harder then the next team it doesn’t prepare you AT ALL for playing in a team. Since ranked is designed for high end team fighting, it should mean a Lot more to beat a top tier team, then to solo in and lose against 5 premades but beat 2 teams.
In my opinion, solo queue as we know it should be abolished, and instead a game mode designed specifically for the solo mentality should be established.
One spam to rule them all!

I know it’s been said a thousand times, but come on. Half the people on the front page are in the 50%’s.
I shouldn’t be #1 on the lb cuz i have no life. Quality over quantity.
And no, for those of you who care I didn’t play the amount of games I’ve played over this very sad christmas break because i want virtual armor. I play, because i love this game and i love the community. let’s fix the basic things that need to be fixed so we don’t lose all of the player base to possum crap.
On a side note, i think you should add cash rewards to the top leaderboard spots
Not sure I follow…
Yes, you’ve played a ton of games (holy crap, I wish I had your free time), but you still have a very good win percentage. If you just had a bunch of games played, but still had a mediocre win percentage, I’d see your point, but your record proves that not only can you win a large portion of your games, but that you can do it very consistently.
That’s worth reward imo.
I find it amusing that you think win percentage has something to do with skill. ANet is playing with your ego. I almost exclusively run solo and can tell you it stacks the premades against beginners half the time. A premade full of Legendary champions stomping the snot out of a pug of mixed gladiator rank beginners is meaningless. They should only put premades against legendary champ level solo players. I can see the tears now. Yay, you scored 500-47 against someone who just walked through the portal. You so good! You should be on top of the leaderboard for hosing beginners.

His statement is that this new leaderboard rewards points for the quantity of games played. It is not possible for any player, regardless of extremely high level of skill, to be at the top of the leaderboard unless he/she plays an immense amount of games.
Your “available ladder points to be earned” has a lot to do with where you end up on the ladder, which is driven by how many games you play.
As a married professional with a 2-year old son, I can say with 100% confidence that even if I played the best GuildWars2 humanly possible, I will never end up in the top percentiles of the leaderboard because I will not have the time available to play as many games as say a college student, for example.
Leaderboards are meant to show the best players, not show who performs the best at their level and plays often. The old leaderboards were far from perfect aswell, but MMR is a much more reliable way to rank people than this system is.

Nailed it.
Most “current top 100 players” are trash tier players farming baddies/solo queuers on on their premades.
If I’ m trash tier and I play tons of games in my tier I should by no means being rewarded, because I’m not improving: I’m simply spending my time.
1 win from a newly formed team against a top team is WAAAAAAY more worthy than 100 wins of that player, due to skill levels being so different.
in current system, there’s absolutely no difference.
The new leaderboards are cool in theory, but right now they are rewarding quantity of games too much over quality. Maybe people at high MMR could gain points at a much faster rate, so if they win lots of high quality games they can easily past grinders?
I went away for a week over the holidays and I don’t see any way of my getting into the top 250 unless I farm my brains out. I feel like the leaderboard should NOT require you to play 3+ hours/night.
Nevertheless, it’s good to reward dedicated pvpers.
Yeah its not perfect but its getting better. I think we should focus on improving this system then going back to the multi account farming that was being done in the last system.
The new Leaderboard is so fundamentally broken. Regardless of my skill it’s impossible for me to reach #1 because I play less than others. I cannot physically catch their Point gain and that is stupid.
What leaderboard?

Its kinda pointless to take note of the leaderboards unless you play on a daily base with this system.
How do you combine having a proper social life, gf and career with playing a few hours a day? Its literally impossible.
So for normal human beings with a healthy social life and career; the leaderboard is not for you (unless you’re in school, uni or we)

So what’s the point to casual pvp player, he must not exists? I am casual and I play Dota 2, and I am not off from a measure of performance (MMR) because of that.

Within this system there is no place for him.
But ahh well….GW2s pvp scene is booming anyway. So who cares about those couple of casuals right?
I would consider myself a casual player and I’m doing ok in the leaderboards. Played 87 games 50 points and last I checked I was ranked 654 with 52.87% W/L

That’s your opinion, 87 games in what, 3 or 4 weeks? That’s a lot for me.

Maybe but a lot of people under me have a lot more games or just as many as me and they are in ranks 700 and lower.
“Half the people on the front page are in the 50%’s.”

Not necessarily. For example, if I have 10 matches that I win by 500 points and 10 matches that I lose by 500 points, it would show a 50 percent win ratio. But obviously that would be terrible matchmaking.
More importantly, these people aren’t overcoming their losses by making sure they beat good teams. They’re overcoming their losses by playing a ton of games.
That could happen in theory, but it’s not my reality. Sure I get some duds but most of my matches are close. My win % was around 66% until I had a horrible 17-34 record one day. I still went up 15 points because my team typically scored 400 in a loss.
I’ve played a lot of games in this season (12-13) start but most importantly I played a lot before this season but after the MMR reset. The system seems to be doing a good job for me.
