I see so much complaining, some legitimate (sync q), others just very predictable ones IMO. Just wanted to state that despite what the topic page in pvp forum may look like, a lot of us are actually having fun right now in Solo Arena, I just had some exciting matches and match making is already getting better.

Anyone else feeling the same? I don’t want ArenaNet to get the wrong message, I’m thinking a lot of us are actually in-game playing right now when others are filling the forum with complaints that could have been easily foreseen (matchmaking needs to get better, leavers, leaderboard concerns, hotjoin invaders, random maps etc).

Totally agree, I think people are expecting something perfect. Let’s just remind ourselves, the whole point of this is to be able to queue alone without facing premades. That doesn’t mean you will get queued with 4 pros and roflstomp every match. You get what you get, and you do your best to help your team win. Don’t expect it to be more than that, and I think you will enjoy SoloQ as much as I am

Finally I’m motivated to play GW2 without a team, had a blast yesterday with some very intense matches.

As someone who has odd work hours, and can only log in a bit here, a bit there, this has been wonderful! I mean it’s not perfect some times of night, when it’s low pop’ I am sure some team synching could happen, but this is a far cry better then being automatically teamed up against some pre-made team ready to rock via the team queue, for me this is the best option.

Really I noticed the team who is most vocal wins, I have found just at get go of match quickly cut pasting a few “tips” into team chat; this goes a long way to a win.

“if no enemy is near, it only takes one to cap”
“points mean nothing”
“hold mid +1, let me roam”

I mean just being upfront and vocal with your team can go a long way.

Absolutely love it so far! I mean of course there are some quality of life improvements (I don’t think you should be able to have anyone from your immediately previous game in your subsequent one), but minus those couple issues it’s been great fun!

Yeah I agree—most of the players are actually in game PLAYING instead of the select few whining in the forums about how much they are disappointed in it.

i like it to , just a few things that still need some attention.

like having 3 of the same professions on enemy team, while non of that profusion on your own team.

and they need to do anything possible to keep the premade folks out of it. haven’t gotn that many problems with it yet tho . sometimes you play a few games against more or less same players , but never a real premade like it used to .

Me too! It’s the most i’ve enjoyed GW2 since it came out.

Agreed. Good to see some positive response too on the forums for once. Everyone I’ve spoken to in-game is very happy with it as well.

There are only two positive things

1.Not being matched against pugs/premades.
2.Playing with great players that you wouldn’t have the chance to do with the old system.

And there are a lot of negatives thing which in turn drag the whole excitement down to a different levels. Even among all those positive things, number 2 is pretty much based on luck. Team up with newbies, well bad luck. Anyway, I don’t want to ruin the happy mood in here. I do I fact love soloQ as well. However, akittens current state, it is being more stressful than enjoyment.

Of course having random maps is nice and being able to play Skyhammer and Spirit Watch is also a nice think. The only problem I have is that we apparently start with a new rating(at least the leaderboards start with 0 matches played and I don’t think they start leaderboards with 0 and use the rating from the old leaderboard – rating only).

I don’t think they will change this… so it will just take some time…

I’m having fun.

I’m not expecting anything perfect at all. But synch queuing A-net has to come up with some kind of elegant solution for or it just ruins the whole thing. Its ludicrous to say well just deal with it if you get a synched team. People with quit this game if they dont fix it. Solo q is fine when it works the way it’s suppossed to and produces random match ups based on rating. Is that too much to ask? Thats what we were promised.

You are right Kwll. That is what we were promised, and what we are not getting at the moment.

I hope they come up with a competent matching system to deliver what was promised.

I’ve been having fun but the matchmaking can be a little frustrating.

I am enjoying solo queue. I just wish players would try to maintain a positive attitude during matches or if that’s not possible stay silent. The r2 Dungeon Master with no tourny experience is not suddenly getting better when he/she is being yelled at.

People need to learn to be kind.

Its not even that syncers are ruining that many matches. It’s that they will invalidate the solo queue leaderboard. It takes away the chance of any normal solo q player playing the right way of every being ranked very highly.

and for the devs^^ – i realy wish you guys can give in leaderboards or maby ingame more statistics than overall played/won

SoloQ seems good. Just needs probably a flag system preventing you to have the exact same teammates on your next game and this so called sync’ing will slowly fade away. Now on to incentivizing players to come back and repopulate PvP

Note: In LoL, the whole forum outcry about Elo Hell and "SoloQ always manages to get noobs on my team and not on the enemies! Buah cry buah " lasted two kittening years. So get confortable because they wont shut up.

This last patch was a home run. Solo queue is a lot more enjoyable than what we had before. Even better is that we can queue from anywhere in the world. I don’t have to sit in Heart of the Mists if I wanna try a tournament, I can go explore the world while I wait. The only way I would make it better is if it returned me to where I was before I entered instead of Heart of the Mists.

The PvP side of the game is becoming incredibly user friendly now. They are doing fantastic work.

Really, the que synching is an issue, and the matchmaking algorithm might need either larger sample sizes or a bit of tweaking, but YES.

Thanx to A-net for finally coming through with soloque. Now if we could just delete hot join in favor of an unrated tPvP system we would be on the right track… That and if we had more than a few hundred players…
