Calling out on people’s playstyles during the game is generally the worst thing to do – because in the odd chance the reciever does not take it well, it might turn out as bad as this…

If you feel obliged, talk with people after the match, and most certainly with another tone… I have done the exact thing in the past, and more than often people are willing to accept critique if done right and at the right time

So despite your idea of punishing leavers not being completely awful – I think the Engineer in this case served you right

I disagree. “Play style” is dramatically different from “laziness” or “incompetence.” Yes, OP may have been a bit rude, but during a game there aren’t many other options.

It’s like on Spirit Watch when your other four teammates only push orb and ignore points. Is it “rude” or “inappropriate” to tell them to cap? I don’t think so.

The engi was consciously playing poorly. This isn’t a situation where he simply is a less-skilled player, or he messes up his rotations, or he’s using a sub-optimal build. Camping in elixir gun and auto attacking is not helpful, and demonstrates laziness rather than a simple lack of skill.

And his later attitude further proves that he had no intention of trying that game.

ITT: OP appears to have prioritized beasts over caps and then called someone bad.

This is a tricky situation because, well, rage-quitting is bad, but having a teammate who doesn’t want to help anymore and just rages/trolls/sabotages for the rest of the game would be even worse.

Penalties for quitting deter folks who want to abuse the system by, say, quitting any time it looks like a match they’re in isn’t going to be a faceroll (to queue up for another match faster), but they won’t actually fix the situation in this screenshot.

lol then at that point you started spamming screenshot to try to gain sympathy huh there chan ( hint the green text that tells you where the ss will be saved doesn’t show up when you only hit the print screen button once ). Its pretty evident you acted far worse to the player prior to the ss, even the name you uploaded it as shows that.

Honestly man, you insulted the guy (most likely in unranked) and expected him not to get upset? I mean come on dude… This post isn’t even worth posting because the answer is right in your screenshot. Yeah something should be done about deserters, but if you’re requesting that then something should be done about BM as well.

0 revivals does not mean anything. You will get a game when you can’t revive someone or barely anyone in your team will die. So yea, stop bashing.

yes every time you hit the print screen button the green text shows up HOWEVER the FIRST time you hit the printscreen button the green text does not show up in the the screenshot itsself. it only shows up in the following screenshots. The point is you did not take 1 screenshot here. What else is rather interesting is how did you know he was just sitting spamming autoattack while you were busy pveing and watching the ele get 2v1’d? So somewhere within the 8 minutes he got rage quit because of the two things you said to him….why is that hard to believe?

Guys, cut Srolo some slack. Srolo, it’s never a good idea to say something to a team mate that could be taken the wrong way. But really, what you said wasn’t horrible: you didn’t insult him, you didn’t criticize his build, and you didn’t really sound like you were raging. So I’ll have to back you up on that one. Be careful to stay courteous in the future.

Your are not your teammates mom and they don’t value your opnion.
If you don’t phrase your critique as delicate as possible people will think you are an elitist and ignore what you say or do the opposite.
Have you EVER seen someone react positive to negative critique in an online match?
I can’t fathom that people still don’t understand that lashing out at your teammates is the single most dumbest thing you can do in online gaming.

Ah reminds me of the good ol LoL Times. I would join a game, die early by accident and my team would kitten me out about it. I in return fed the opposite team =D Good times Good times.

Im on the other guys side tbh. Sure raging and leaving isnt the best way to do it, but when a teammate starts kittening about the way i play, especially if im not meta, I will just stop trying all together. Something about it urks me.

Not often, but happens. One ranked game nobody said a word, but our shatter(!) mesmer started AFK just because he wasn’t able to kill 1 enemy turret engi. We captured other 2 spots and was leading by 100+ points and he goes AFK and blaming engies because of rage… We ask him to help at other spots, but “I’m not playing when turret engineers in match” And we lost that match…

Criticizing a teammate will never yield positive results. Best case scenario all you’re doing is distracting them from their objective and making it more likely they’ll end up making mistakes during fights because they are busy trying to defend their choices from you. Worst case scenario well… This happens.

If you absolutely have to criticize you should begin dialogue with “Hey, can I offer you some advice?” That way you come off as someone who actually wants to help. Opening with “You’re bad” is just going to immediately put them on the defensive.

Granted it seems like he overreacted, but the whole situation could have been avoided if you hadn’t said anything. And looking at the scores you would’ve won.

Next time if you try to present a case which in which we can have more sympathy towards – just refrain yourself from being a keyboard hero, because it does not matter what you said, it matters when, in what way and context

Be part of the solution rather than the problem… I rarely see people actually ragequitting, and that is telling more than it should
