It seems like ANet’s devs and the community are so disconnected, I don’t know if it’s arrogance or fear in their part, but I would really appreciate something like this with our own balance devs.

We had CDI: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/cdi

But I get the impression a few key ppl within Anet didn’t like it, so they stopped.

Haha. Last thing I would do as a Dev is talk to the players around here. If twitch chat is anything to go by, I’d rather gouge my eyes out with a spoon then go through that willingly.

Look how well the beta weekend feedback went. I’m sorry, but you’re mistaken.

We had an open chance to review, communicate, and majorly influence how a lot of skills ended up. This is something that had never happened before, and almost gave me the slightest glimmer of hope they would continue to do so in a mild manner.

Any rank system without a team to focus on balance in a timely fashion is a waste of time. They need more employees, that only touch pvp, and pvp only.

It’s not even about taking advice from the community anymore. They’re not communicating ANYTHING regarding future updates and changes across all game modes.

I really hope this is not the mentality the devs go by, some people go overboard, but before everything went downhill, you’d see very good feedback and very genuine wonder about ANet’s design philosophies in this forum and each classes’.

Did you look at the link I posted? That forum is regarded as the most immature, troll-driven place in the gaming community, yet it was a great opportunity for Riot devs give insight about what their design choices, the mistakes they made, etc. And this is something they do on a regular basis. This is how you create a loyal playerbase, and this is why LoL is the most popular game in the world, co-mu-ni-ca-tion.

This particular dev even says that taking community feedback is probably not a good idea

If this is about balance, then I’d say it can be very dangerous to rely too heavily on community eception/feedback to shape balance decisions, but it’s hard not to give it too much weight, because I have very little else other than internal data to go off.

But at least he’s upfront about it.

If you’ve been paying attention they really don’t care about what the player base thinks in general although they listen to handful of pros a little bit.
