Recently, I took a (short) break from university coursework in order to chat up my guildies as well as see what’s up in PVP.

One of the things I noticed was that a lot of people seem to be really vexed about running into teams with a lot of “Meta” classes. Some people had apparently been getting enemy teams with at least three reapers for the past five matches, or they’ve been getting a bunch of druids, or tempest ele’s, or what-not.

Personally I am of the opinion that PvP is basically #ThugLife and that solo queue is kind of like Russian Roulette, but they did get me thinking.

Recently we’ve seen the advent of maps that are not Conquest-based. This gave me the idea of a third possible queue option.

My idea is simple: Normal conquest with the normal conquest maps, but with a restriction that only allows one of each class per team. This would even the teams out a little bit more, and might go some way to alleviate any balance issues that have not been addressed yet.

Would such a modified conquest mode be feasible for implementation? What would we even name it?

Balance among the classes is one thing, balance among teams is another. If you’ve fixed a class balance issue, there is still a balance issue when 3 or more of the same class, (let’s say 4-5 tempests) team up.

So, definitely, I would like to see the queues restricting parties with 3 or more of the same class. How that would affect the queue times, I can’t say. Matches are made with what’s available at a given time.

I generally would agree with it but it will never happen. So yeah i would support 1 of each class in conquest. Here are reasons.

I main thief. I watched how this class got ruined by Anet and went from dueling class that was good in 1v1 but not so great in team fights to simply ranger pet status with less survival but more independence. Then Anet brought out xpac. To enhance sales they nerfed the class even more into oblivion so people were forced to reroll revs (thus buy xpac). Results were pretty disgusting.

- you had to reroll revs or get kicked from teams as thief
- in soloq people would cry rivers and harass/report you for botting if you played thief in season 1 and 2
- if team ended up with 2 thieves, non-thieves not only would verbally harass thief players nonstop but also afk/ragequit as “punishment”
- customer support did NOTHING about griefing of thief players, ever. I watched for 2 seasons how people that spammed me with most offensive crap kept playing like nothing happend
- it is also very clear that dev team has 0 interest in making thief class any decent so they can hold ground on their own like other classes. They also have 0 interest nerfing/changing revs that pretty much removed thieves from competitive pvp.

So, to at least decrease amount of player griefing max 1 of each class is necessary since the people that supposed to cure the disease (and get paid for it too) have 0 interest in doing so.

LOL I question this claim. I think the pet actually has a greater amount of independence in what they can attempt to do and not that a thief :P

people already whine about long queue times, imagine the queue times for players of popular classes if this rule was bought in?!
