Idea: Post sPvP rank when posting
I´m sorry to dissapoint you, but PvP-rank is definitly not a good indicator of PvP-Experience. Reaching Rank 80 is very easy (got mine in like 2-3 month with casual playing) and while you at least understood the easiest mechanics there is still a hell lot to learn. Playing thief as main myself I not just need to know how to play thief, but also rotations and the other classes. Furthermore you need to play a lot to gain the experience about certain situtions, how to handle them, etc.
Rank 80 on the old System would worth a lot more (no one reached it until the change )
For me an approximate threshold would be like 2000 games on your class with a decent Win/Lose ratio.
And of course played a lot lately to be up tp date.
Edit: Yeah, forgot the Rankfarm-servers… Explains everything, right?

I know a large amount of players that they’re rank really don’t fit they’re ability.
I’m R80 and frequently I fight against R80 players (in that sometimes the MMR work) and seriously: sometimes when I see a really bad player reach to stomp me in a teamfight with the Dragon Finisher I end like “What? That n00b is at my same rank? Seriously?”
Then I remember that there’s a large amount of insane players that play in specific Hot Join chambers where they stay all the day farming points for the rewards (level rewards of sPvP have a chance to find ascended and exotic equipment and T6 crafting components)
Then, no, the rank isn’t actually a good way to know if a player is a good one or a bad one.
Well plus with those tombs, you can be a great player on one class, and have just instant 80’d a new one your trying out right?
Now posting your MMR when you post, that would be maybe more indicative?
Ah, yes forgot about the rank farmers. That explains some of the AWFUL people I’ve ran into with titles like mist walker. And yes, playing different builds for different classes makes a big difference with player skill.
I main thief, and I see so many people who I KNOW have to be new to thief and just don’t know how to rock a thief yet, and are upset about it. High skill ceiling, but so easy to be terribad with. When I started pvp’ing, I laughed at thieves because the saturation of terrible thieves in low ranks. Now they can be hard to deal with. And you can see the difference on the forums with ones who are good, and ones who stink.
(Side note: I don’t care if thief is a ‘good’ class in sPvP. It’s SO MUCH FUN)
The new league icons we get with HoT next to the character name should also be visible in the forum. I feel like this would be way better than rank.
Obviously just incase the new league system works (high skilled players in high leagues, low skilled players in low leagues, no insane grind)

+1 for this idea. Could restore some legitimacy to the forum.

Not really. Higher league = play with team. Lower league = solo
It is much easier to win as part of a team (and therefore gain MMR) than as a solo player.

I agree, with a Soloqueue could have sense but in this state is only who has the better team.
I don’t like this idea because it would encourage attacks against a person instead of attacks against his/her argument. There isn’t any meaningful discussion to be had if everyone discredits each other because of low leaderboard standings or rank, etc.
Ranks need to be per class in my opinion, similar to Starcraft 2 were you have separate levels for Zerg, Terran, and Protoss. I play Random, so my levels are around 30 to all races, but overall I’m level 90+. Why play random you ask. Because it’s kittening fun, and you get to see the game as a whole and know what tactics your enemies could use. The same way I don’t play only one job class in GW2, although I have more experience with necros than the other classes.
Ranks mean absolutely nothing. You can play with an incredibly low mmr and still hit dragon.
R80
Rank really does not mean anything except that you’ve played a decent amount of games or took advantage of special events.
2015-2016
Fort Aspenwood
You could lose literally every game ever and still hit rank 80. Just takes longer.
Dolyak rank. I like to 10v10 on spirit watch.
