So, just an idea.. I’ll be naming the teams ‘red’ and ‘blue’ for making it easier to read.

When someone from red leaves the match, block a person from blue from participating, until the person who left comes back (DC)/match has ended.
The block from participating could go like this: the moment a person from red leaves, someone on blue is teleported back to the spawn area. He has to stay there, until another person from blue dies and respawns. Then he can go back in the game and the player from blue who just died has to stay in the spawn area until another one on blue dies.
When another player from red leaves, block 2 people from blue from participating.

Possible or not?

There is one major problem: the game is balanced around five-man teams. In unranked, if my team is loosing the team fights but has better mobility (maybe two thieves), if two players on my team voluntarily quit, we have a good chance of winning by rotating faster. And what do you do if one player on your team just decides to afk and run around near the spawn?

Since the patch, I have the feeling that the number of 4v5 has drastically decreased. I even started queuing solo again! You can’t ask the developers to entirely get rid of 4v5, because it’s a player-generated issue. Some people are bad sports, and we’re forced to deal with it.

I think this is about hot join. You cannot expect to ever see balance there. The entire intent of that game mode is for players to try new things. It doesn’t always take a full game to determine something is working or not working.
