Idea to punish zerging
how about ccing, rezzing, counter pressuring, using defensive cooldowns or mobility to disengage ?
you cant balance the game around complains of new players. ofc you should get pusnihed for being outnumbered or rewareded for calling a target.
Nope, Zerging is already punishing in itself because now you have less people capping, thus result in less chance of your team winning against people who do cap.
However, the problem is the reward system of the game.
People actually get more points zerging with others:
killing more people, neutralizing and conquesting more points.
It is hilarious that people actually need to stay in circle long enough to get points, since you’ll see like 5+ people standing in the same circle waiting for points to pop out.
That is just plainly bad design.
I think winning should result in more reward points on itself, so people will actually care trying to win the game rather than zerging to get the most points.
Of course, to avoid exploit, the winning reward should scale base on how many opponents on the other team.
Don’t use the term “zerg” out of WvW, please. It’s laughable. A group of 5-8 enemies is not a zerg.
Outnumbering an opponent is a sure way to ensure defeat, and is a perfectly viable strategy. Its drawbacks are inherent; if you concentrate your team in one area, then they are not defending other areas.. leaving those points susceptible to capture. It balances itself.
Honnestly, the definition of a “zerg” has always been a little subjective. But it’s the first time I heard someone say it means a group of 3 or more XD A Mesmer can be a zerg all by himself now.
Still, your solution is useless. 7% less damage for a 5v1 fight?
Also, what happens for a 50v50 fight? Everyone will be doing 50% less damage cause they got 49 friends nearby? Think also about that. Not everything is 1vX
Double points for winners half points for loses…at the end of the match obviously…not during it and if you leave, no points at all…same as now, autobalanced\volunteers get win bonus ppl who just switch team with the green button still get points based on team they were before changing

7% less damage is more than you would think as it is being applied to several people and not just one. That damage adds up.
I was intending for this to be applied only in the context of sPvP, not WvW obviously.
I agree the definition if zerging is subjective. In sPvP what can be defined as a zerg is probably a much fewer number of people than in WvW.

I don’t get it. More people should always beat less people…so this is working as intended.
The game mode alone punishes zerging so this thread is made by someone who only plays 8v8 hot join.
