After all, a lot of problems contribute to people creating teams. Whether to abuse the system or not, having a team of friends gives a decent advantage. But then again, the only time you will be able to play with your friends is unranked or hotjoin. It’s a solo fight to the top and you might fight your friends along the way.


Before you say, “JUST ADD A SPLIT IT’S THAT EASY” well not really. How do you split it? Should there be a SoloQ and TeamQ League? Or should the split share the same league latter? What about the MMR? Should SoloQ or TeamQ have the same MMR? What happens when a player goes to Legendary in TeamQ but has not once played a single SoloQ game, should they be treated like legendary? There is really no perfect system without making an entirely new league, which means even more grinding.

This is such a good idea! It makes leagues fair for all and more of a test of skill with far less frustration.

They should still also include a guild league or something along those lines too. But i 100% think leagues should be solo queue only

It’s a ridiculous idea. Given a single queue systems, it would make much more sense to disallow solo or even partial pre-made queuing for ranked. The best scenario would be a ranked solo queue and a ranked team queue with the option for solo players and partial premades (duos, trios) to enter team queue if they so desire. The hypothetical solo queue should have it’s own league divisions separate for team queue league divisions. That would keep the waters clean and give some integrity to that little icon beside your character name. As it stands today, only Diamond and Legendary are any indication of team skill.

  • Conquest is a team sport.
  • The concept of a Guild team is a new construct added with HoT to pair with League play. The whole League system is by design all about the guild team’s taking rank and the best earning a spot on the leader boards.
  • The whole point of Leagues isto funnel up to Legendary divison which is all about Guild Team play with the top 8 (will there even be that many) to form the Guild Challenger League

The design is that the Guild Challenger League will eventually face off against the top eight ESL Pro League teams in a year end tournament. That was all stated. Of course when your top eight Guild Challenger League teams all open to be ESL Pro League teams I suppose it will just cancel itself out.

I know what you are saying Sam but you are looking at it all wrong.

  • Conquest is a team sport, but it doesn’t mean sports are only designed for organized teams. Just look at League of Legends.
  • While the League system is designed for top GUILD teams to compete in the ESL. What does that mean for SoloQ players? Hell, I’m almost Diamond and I’ve been SoloQing my way through a good part of Ruby. What happens when top players get to Legendary 1 all by themselves? They aren’t given a team either.

The idea is you make your team from the open players in the leagues, then compete in the ESL. Having a League will help teams figure out and test players who are in legendary or high diamond. Once again, League of Legends works the same way, can’t join most teams unless you Diamond 1+. If you have a team, great! If you don’t, well, getting a very high rank will drastically increase your chances for a good team.

Of course Dedicated SoloQ is a stupid idea that is only around because people are Raging.

So could someone who is a defender of this idea please try to explain how it would work?
1. Everyone in PvP would Queue in SoloQ.
2. If someone wanted to play with a friend how would they fill the other 3 spots?
3. Ohh wait you can’t have a team of 4??
4. Okay only teams of 5 are allowed into TeamQ.
5. Now only the Pros play there with never proccing queue times except happy hour.
6. Lets nerf the SoloQ rewards so that people join TeamQ.
7. Now lets call it ranked Queue instead.

It is a stupid idea that they tried already before. The correct solution is to nerf the rewards for team so that diamonds in an average ruby group receive 0 pips for a win.

I am just so tired of people repeating incorrect logic just thinking short term.

I misunderstood, but I understand now. You are proposing a way to restructure Leagues in a way that doesn’t involve splitting the queues and you think making everyone solo queue would be a solution.

Well I agree it would be one way to clean the waters, but I don’t like it. Conquest is a team sport and there is a lot of fun to be had being on voice coms with a team, working strategy, etc… The game was designed around that and is played at it’s best when it’s played like that. But the majority don’t play it like that.

Foe me, really the only answer is a separate ranked solo queue and a ranked team queue. The Guild Challenger League is suppose to be entire separate from ESL. Again, they stated the two would eventually face off. It’s all such a cluster-kitten now that who knows what their plans are.

People do like playing with their friends in PvP but splitting the leagues will take time to make.

I’m talking about before LoL became a massive esports like it is now. But even then, I don’t think team ranked even matters that much in LoL even now.

I mean for example if there is a trio on the other side and full solos, full solos shouldn’t lose pips. Never, independently from final score.

They don´t have to split tqueue /squeue.

Just implement a button with the following phrase before match starts.

Do you want to stay in the same team if u win?

[]yes
[]no

Yes gives u the chance to perform again with a motivated team which wants to win and doesnt sabotage the game.

They could even implement a button after the match again with the question. Do u still want to perform with this team?

[]Yes
[]No

Big advantage is:

It gives u more room for maneuver. You can get a “light” version of premade and i think a lot of solo queue want this.

They don´t want to create a premade which takes to long and u don´t have to play with them at least 2-3 hours a day maybe everyday.

It could also be the start of new premades.

OK let’s think that trough. You can’t play with a friend or two, can’t talk or laugh while waiting in the queue. You have no one to cheer you up when a match goes south. I’m not sure if many would call that less frustration and more fun, I for sure would call that horrible.

Well i kinda feel it ‘s already this way now … cause i barely don’t see any full premade when i’m duoQing. And the level of the full premade is kinda low when i face it with pugs.

So okay, how about that one ? They implement Soloq and Team q, duo, trios, quadros and full premades goes into Team Que. For 4 man premades there can be a feature i’ve been talking about, solo q guy can join them if he wants to. Trios and duos matched together always.

Everyone’s happy.

About Que times etc, aka why it haven’t worked out back then. Atm with the release of HoT, leagues, back pack, guild hall rewards, more people play SPvP, be it rewards or fun, but it starts to drop due to disbalance of current meta and flawed league system.

Never understood really why ppl like playing solo,pvp its a 5 man team,even if you solo you are still a part of a 5 kan team so you are not actually solo…just a way to blame other players if you lose a game…..

What i would like to see is a ranked arena of 1 vs 1 with 1 point to fight over….then a soloQ would actualy be a soloQ since ppl wana play the game solo and not as a team.

Even if you soloQ you are part of a team of 5 ppl….so in mo way the game reflects your actual skill as a pvper,but a 1 vs 1 ranked arena would do that

Matching pure pugs against premades is illogical. So there must be a reason why Anet have decided to implement and keep this system. The only reasonable explanation I can think of is that there are many more people who pug than those in teams. So pugs are fodder for teams so that they don’t have long queue times, and no doubt to encourage people to form teams so their esport grows bigger. It’s a way to try and force people to play PvP in a particular way to help achieve their agenda of making GW2 an esport brand by making the pug experience frustrating.

Anet is really, really, trying to push Esports through lots of money. It gives them the advertising they need. The rest can come later. New Esport teams have a more efficient way of getting into it by getting fast queues with a learning curve from the fodder. Owning pugs as a premade gives newcomer teams a great feeling, they dont know if they are really pugs, but they beat a team of 5.

ArenaNet cares, they just don’t have their priorities straight and they are scared to talk to anyone. It’s almost like a bunch of highschoolers tackling a big project with no teacher, nothing gets done and whatever does get done turns out to be a big mess.

Removing the ability to team queue will only be a hotfix to some of the outstanding problems.
