Well, hotjoin was great for newbies to understand basics (very very basic things), but after a while it is a thing that destroys Pvp from within.

It’s just mindless zerging that makes PvP ranks a bit meaningless. If devs won’t take hotjoin away, then at least give 2 rank points for a kill, 5 for capture, 5 for capturieng the orb, 5 for communing and 1 for trebutchet usage.

This would slow down rank grinding and maybe once again good players would have the higher ranks, because tournaments and tournament wins would give the better rewards.

Also, give bonus rank poins above a given rating for winning a tournament match.

But currently, hotjoin heroes will have r80 years faster than top players.

This can still be reverted.

Dont worry too much
When ‘Solo Arena’ (solo queue) will be implanted , they will w8 2-3 weeks in order the place to clear up a little with the <<Dishonor system>> and its tPvP repetedly AFK-DC offenders and then move the majority of the sPvP ppl to tPvP .
By reducing dramaticaly the glory + offering new special achiv/armors in tPvP + changing the tPvP name to a less intimiating name + puting 2 golden swords on the NPC name

Rank isn’t meant to be a display of skill. It’s for personal and aesthetic progress. It’s the same as levels in PvE only it takes 1000 times longer. Rank grinding already slows to the pace of a korean grinder.

It’s interesting to see how there is a group that feels rank progression in later on takes forever and then another post that feels the accumulation of glory should take even longer. Rank progression isn’t meant to highlight specifically good players. Thats why a leaderboard was established to begin with, and why one is coming with the solo que.

While on the forums everyone agrees, nobody will take r9 guys to an r40+ team, and there’s a reason they are looking fo r40+ to play with.

So what does that change?
Slowing down the accumulation of glory just means that r9 takes longer to climb up. If he just wants to play the game and get new armors his progress to that goal slows down. If he’s looking to jump on a tournament scene, his rank stays low longer anyways. If tournament rewards more glory, than he still needs to either solo que up the tourney either way because apparently no one will group with him…which isn’t really true since GW2 is a lot easier to get a group in than say Hall of heroes was.

Add a filter to show only 5v5 rooms. Problem solved.

In 5v5 zerging isn’t as effective as in 8v8 or 10v10.

30 points for reviving any players, and 10 points for each minute defending a base. Base assaulter and defender increased by 10 points per kill. Skirmisher removed and all kills off base are 5 points.

Hotjoin is definitely the cancer of sPvP and it encourages horrible behaviour.

In addition to suggested changes, split credit for capping a point among those capping it (i.e. 10 glory for capping a point solo, 2 glory each for 5 people capping it) or something similar.

This should hopefully discourage mindless zerging a bit more and promote splits, as opposed to 5 people capturing one node.

I’d just boo-hoo all day about how bad conquest was if I wanted the game to get better.
Sure people might find it to be decent from time to time, but conquest is the reason the vast majority of people left this game.

It kills teamwork.
Fights are skirmishes, meaning, self sufficiency is the goal… cutting out allot of the innate skill from stuff like positioning… and of course teamwork. To boot its impossible to rate a player with points (everyone knows glory means kitten as a means of saying ‘that guy played well, that one did badly’).
The game has a terrible teamwork setup, when it comes to abilities, which gets cut to negligible through this kittenty conquest, it just puts teamwork (short of in hardcore premades) down the toilet.

THIS IS AN MMO, PEOPLE PLAY IT TO PLAY WITH PEOPLE.
SURPRISE ANET.

Honestly, conquest is probably one of the worst sorts of map they could have come up with for this game. If the weapons and classes were far deeper and more elegantly made, they easily would have been able to make up for the lack of team play… but nope, the gameplay can’t carry the map choice.

There needs to be a new kill bonus introduced.
Contester (or something…): 25 glory for kills on neutral nodes. Defender should also be bumped up to 30. Neuting a node should be ~15-20
Basically, just put re-evaluate the value to each action and reward it accordingly to how much it contributes in a team’s victory.
This would give a huge push to the gameplay in hotjoins towards where it should be.
Now, values like 25, 30, and 20 are a bit high but thats roughly the scaling I feel should be in relation to the current 10 points per action, 15 points per kill. (Adjust my suggested values lower and lower all other actions accordingly to preserve the rate of aquisition)

That’s funny. Our old guild leader loved Korean grinders. We said, if you love grinding so much why don’t you play sPvP.
He replied, what do you get?
We told him, skins and gems if you are good at tPvP.
Skins? Not better gear, not gold? Just skins?

And I guess you can figure out the rest, he never played sPvP, just sent the guild into WvW.
