If there's anything GW2 has taught me...
Like every other mmo, yes.
If beta sucks.
Game sucks.

If beta sucks.
Game sucks.
Beta didn’t exactly suck though. Though it was clear pvp would be repetitive and get boring fairly quickly.
The game that really tricked me was Aion. The beta was great.
If there’s anything that GW2 has taught me, it’s that even if an MMO is destined to be one of the greatest, the devs can find a way to screw it up.

It’s the lack of purpose. They should have started us all with crap gear and then have us work our way to the good stuff.
Instead you have some too overly completed vanity rewards to attain.

Yeah no. If I wanted a gear grind, I could play every other MMO.
If a PVE game claims to be an esport run the other way.
if something made you excited about for a long time, does not mean that then you can trust it with closed eyes.
gg anet.
If there’s anything GW2 has taught me, it’s that we are all kittens on the internet.

I learned that from WAR first, then SWtoR…
If a PVE game claims to be an esport run the other way.
What did I learn from GW2? That you need devs that care and communicate openly about their decisions. Actually… I learned that from GW1 because that veil between community and developer is what killed the game’s PvP. (Frankly I like Tyler and Evan’s up front communication and the SotG that we have going, things we sincerely lacked in GW1. Bad as the start we may have had… at least we have some of what GW1 was missing and that led to its demise as an e-sport.)
If a PVE game claims to be an esport run the other way.
Pretty sure… they didn’t claim it would launch as an e-sport, so technically they aren’t wrong. Just food for thought.
[Eon] – Blackgate
If it doesn’t happen in beta, expect it to be fixed 12 months down the road.
So what?
Let me list you some other highly successful games that made similar design choices and had a similar work ethic towards patching and balance:
Darkfall
Mortal Online
Earthrise
APB
So as you can see, GW2 is doing just fine.
What I learned from gw2 is: how people don’t appreciate good things and hold onto negativity blindly.
For example everyone forgets how:
- you need 0 grind to play pvp in gw2
- you can play any class at any moment in gw2 in pvp
- you don’t need stupid healers anymore and you’re free to choose your class as you like
Yea game is not perfect, but out of all mmos I played, its by far best. There is nothing even close to gw2 in my opinion.

Hold onto negativity blindly? I’m fairly certain everyone here has played the game and come to the conclusions based on that.
If you enjoy those features, great. I have to admit I thought it was a good thing coming into the game and some of those features are. The pvp though is repetitive and I miss direct healers.

Aion was playable in korea for over a year before we got to beta it….of course it was great….it was already in “beta” for over a year.

Among MMO’s, but if i want a team styled battleground map with capture the point style gameplay. I can turn on TF2.
People recognize the good things it has, which is why they’re still even talking about this game on the forums…..the problem its missing 100’s of things other games are doing right.
Sorry, you cant sell me a car with no wheels and expect me not to complain because it has nice leather seats and a sunroof.

The people who are only whining about the bad points are doing so cause they are not having fun. And then they list the reasons for that. You can list as many good points as you want, they don’t matter at all for those who don’t find GW2 fun to play.
I personally would rank GW2 pretty much lowest of the MMOs I’ve played.

I agree. And would add:
-you can even get bored of something you really like if you play it long enough
-one game mode in pvp gets boring faster than several game modes
-focusing on making an epsort before establishing a fun and popular game (mode) doesn’t seem to work
-throwing out all the successful and loved game modes/ranking/ladder/reward systems of your previous title is probably not the best idea
-“noob” is the most insulting word on the planet and can seemingly cause people to instantaneously combust
Mechanics of the game are great.
No ladder, no tourneys (lol if you think this what we have now counts as a tourney), no rating is what sucks.
Glory grind rank sucks even more.
Balance is fine.
The game and his mechanics are awesome, one of the greatest MMO ever, probably the best one under that aspect (imho), but it has been ruined by a kittenty development from the devs. Features we PvPers are claiming for should have been here from the beta. The game came out unfinished, and now it’s probably too late to regain credibility.
