If you could go back to when you first started playing this game or when the game first came out, what class would you play first?

I think I would have actually picked engineer.
Just because of the intricate combinations that were discovered over time as people figured out how things worked.

Just looking for a thread to lighten the mood.

Not for being too strong burst wise, but I definitely wish I started with Thief. I only recently picked up Thief, maybe 6 months before HoT released, and it’s easily the most enjoyable play style overall for myself.

I would love to say ranger, but pet AI and how they work with the class in general is just way too limited to be an interesting mechanic.

Probably fresh air ele, as 2013 was when cele wasn’t buffed yet for it and there wasn’t enough power creep to make it a terrible choice yet.

Also spirit ranger would be pretty fun. I’d get to spam shortbow autoattacks while in a perpetual state of evasion and protection.

Either necro or engineer. Little did I know that these 2 classes would be OP for years to come and literally never didnt have spot in the meta. ofc you can thank 5g and noscoc for that since anet loves their abjured butt buddies

I’ve always really liked the play style of mesmer but I’ve never been able to get good at it mostly because I rage and switch back to thief whenever I get farmed by other thieves while on it.
