This might get moved to the PVP forums, but in my opinion it shouldnt because im looking for a general opinion….which should belong in the general forums. What do you guys think?? Spvp has been getting developer attention BECAUSE it was so relevant….what about now that they got taken out from esports?? Look i dont pvp anymore because my life is busy and i can only be a casual, but when i look at a game with pvp….part of my judgement towards the game is “how well is their pvp structured”? because when the time comes that i have enough free time in my life to pvp I want it to be a balanced, fair, fun, impactful, and rewarding experience. Doesnt this unsettle you guys?? Even if you arent a PVPer….I mean you should care about how well the game you’re investing time and effort for is going, right? I hope they fix this the problem they have with Spvp and esport. As for WVW, they said they were working on it, but honestly its been over a year now….my guess is that it will come out with Xpac 2…maybe? How do you guys feel about it?

Yes pvp needed some serious attention and work….my issue is that it was FINALLY getting that attention….and it got dropped.

Adry the whole thing was just being held up by Anet. In reality circle dancing was never going to work as a E sport but they tried. Just imagine old gw1 pvp where it was just kill the other team it was that simple.

Would run and bow 5 teefs matter anymore? Nope
Would trap guards be as effective? (Maybe)

It would spice it up to not have to circle dance in the middle of the map and actually talk strategy of who to pick off first and have some real pvp action. Gawd i miss courtyard! ;.;

Yes you’re completely right. SPVP was very plain and required little environmental strategy. The base can still be fixed. If the maps remain, but are changed so there IS environmental strategy, and the flashy skill effects are taken away in spvp, then i believe there is a chance spvp can be relevant. I dont mean relevant to esport, I mean relevant to players.

The trick to pvp is to not take pvp seriously. When you accept it for what it is and play for personal improvement or just the lulz it can be fun. Completely ignore rating and ranks cuz they don’t mean anything if matchmaking is anything to go by.

You can climb ladder with some really terrible builds giving you the illusion that you are improving or are otherwise better than players when really you are just facing noobs even noobier than you.

I am almost always teamed with the worst builds/players at this point it is comical to me how can you get mad at a game that doesn’t even take itself seriously. It’s not their fault it’s matchmaking in favor of faster queue’s.

Do your best, keep the dream alive, and as always, E S P O R T S!!!

ps: how can you possibly be so casual you can’t even queue a 10 min pvp match? if you aren’t currently playing pvp then how can I take your opinion seriously? do you even lift bro? the world may never know

The current pvp is dead. There is solution, put effort to bring new modes but I think that Anet gave up by disappointment.

Stronghold was a new mode …. everybody hates it…… idk why …. the base concept is good just need some restylish.

It’s was AGAIN a 5v5 designed with a competitive goal.

MOst people want a simple pvp, playing with a bit of people, not only 5, like a good capture the flag that prove itselft to be just fun for pvp.

But nahh Anet continue to focus on same mistake again and gain. And no there is nothing at all.

Anyways, I find it really cute that you think all your pve problems were the result of balancing for all 3 game modes. I can make the same case for raids destroying pvp balance. And it’s pretty obvious that your a casual pve’r when I look at the message history for the forums.

Besides, there are a lot of skills that have been split for pve/pvp. So your general complaint about balance is short-sighted. I understand that splitting was something relatively new, but so are raids. There is no reason to complain about pve balance before raids since there was no challenging pve content. (Please show your casual-ness by comparing fractals to raids.)

And, to be honest, let’s be real about the pve side of gw2; Obviously the pve side isn’t dying as much as the pvp side, but the pve side of gw2 was dying because there wasn’t a huge grind around before legendary armor. Even now, legendary armor is not even a real ‘grind’ compared to other MMO’s.

And, the worst of it all is that you’re actually advocating for the death of a large part of the game in which you play. Yea, the games dying. And people like you deserve to drown on the sinking ship that is gw2. You helped cause this. Sooooo…. Be careful what you wish for.

Dont be worried, pvp cant be harmed.
